re-flash Amon Ra, then try it again
You could also try the new amon ra recovery that was released the other day. Works fine over here!

If read it it says your only have 500mb left on your SD so it aborted. Backups take anywhere between 400-800 MB depending what you back up. So go into your SD card and go to the nandroid folder. That is where they are stored. Delete old unnecessary backups to free up space and try to have atleast 1gb of space before attempting a backup. I learned this from experience had the same problem
Edit: btw I have been using amon-ra 2.3 since January when I rooted and no problems so I would recommend going back and not using the new one linked above (never used it so I dont know how well it works). Use what you want tho. I'm just throwing in my 2 cents haha

sorry my first post is me with cap in hand but im in need of some help please.
had my dhd for 4 days now, done a bit of research and set about flashing a new rom to it, i rooted, h boot and s-off'd the device and flashed a CyanogenMod 7 rom to it, i got everything set up the way i wanted it and though it would be good idea to make a nandroid back-up, i had already done one of the stock rom and used it to restore when the first image i used was pants but this time i got a "cant mount /system/!" error.
i can mount the card on my pc through the phone and have tried cleaning the contacts on the memory card but its not helping, i tried copying my previous back up to my pc and emptyed the clockworkmod folder but it didnt help. can any one help please as i really dont like not being able to back up my system and dont like the idea of maybe not being able to restore an image either!
this is what was in the error log.

I did some reading before I posed this. I am in the process of testing roms and I did a backup of my original sprint rom and kings rom nightly. I used the backup before for kings and it worked. I read that it can be the battery to low or not enough space on my sd card but thats not my case. I copied and pasted below of what the log said.. When reading my own post I meant to say restoring problems... Sorry

I'm having a hard time getting an HTC Desire (A8181) upgraded to Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 and I need some help. I've done successful upgrades of Desires in the past using either Gold Card's/RUU's or unrevoked/Rom Manager.
In this case the Desire is running vanilla Android 2.2. This was an upgrade from the original operator (O2 UK) 2.1 build via Gold Card/RUU.
I've run unrEVOked 3.3.2 on it. This reported that it had completed successfully and I have Superuser Permissions in the list of apps and its showing when apps request root access.
I've installed Rom Manager v4.5.0.1 and running ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.0.
All attempts to run any ROM installs/ROM Backups or Fix Permissions fail. A typical Recovery log looks like the following:
Code:
Starting recovery on Wed Oct 12 16:50:07 2011
can't open /dev/tty0: No such file or directory
framebuffer: fd 3 (480 x 800)

As nothing seems to work I've looked at the Superuser Permissions app and have tried to upgrade it from the Market, This fails with a "Package file not signed correctly" error.
After this I've run Superuser Update Fixer which reports that the signatures don't match. But when I run the app to implement the fix it crashes after having been granted root permissions. The Force option is not selectable so I seem to be stuck.
Can anyone advise on how I should proceed from here?
Thanks
Alan
I am not sure what those codes are but if you notice that the first few lines said the following..
Code:
Starting recovery on Wed Oct 12 16:50:07 2011
can't open /dev/tty0: No such file or directory
framebuffer: fd 3 (480 x 800)
[B]ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7[/B]
It's running tha different recovery from what you said you've upgraded to.
I say ditch ROM manager and do the upgrade manually. Run recovery by powering down and accessing it via long pressing Volume down+Power. Wait for it to load then select Recovery on the menu. Do a nandbackup for safe measure.
Wipe system, dalvik, and cache. Flash the new ROM which you need to download and save to the root of your SD card prior to doing the steps above.
Thanks for the help.
A manual upgrade has worked O.K.
I still seem to have an outstanding problem in that having installed the Google apps Market almost immediately upgraded itself and is unstable. It runs for a few seconds and then crashes.
I can installed apps remotely, but I'd like to fix this one.

remove /system/app/marketupdater.apk from the zip before flashing. Dont unzip the zip, just open it in winrar or something, edit and exit with the x.
Just for info...
I've been out over lunch time. When back on a data network Market has upgraded itself again and is looking stable.
Thanks for the responses.
Alan
