[Q] Epic touch 4g ESN

I bought an S2 on craigslist (probably sounds familiar) for $100 only to find out that it was too good to be true. The phone wasn't stolen (I later confirmed this with sprint), but the jackass didn't pay his bill. Anyways, I'm somewhat familiar with rooting (rooted my E3D), so I was curious what steps I would have to take in order to get this bad boy working (sorry someone else was irresponsible sprint, but I'm not). I have a couple of junk sprint phones laying around the house, so I'm ready to experiment. Also, does anyone think it would be possible to flash it over to US Cellular? Any advice would be appreciated!
Flash it to Cricket or Metro, it's not getting activated on Sprint until the bill is paid.
I think Boost mobile is another option too.
There are posts here and there about porting the E4GT over to third party carriers, some are very detailed. Search for 'E4GT Boost Mobile' or whatever carrier and see what comes up.

Or you could resell to one of the developers here so they can test software without having to fry their own phone.

I doubt it. I didn't have to search hard to NOT find a single thing linked to this phone and US Cell so bets are that they are not a CDMA carrier.

I found this on multiple sources; US Cellular (3G - CDMA2000 800/1900 MHz)
I'm thinking it would be possible since they're on the same frequencies, but I'm a noob when it comes to flashing.

Got me there then. But, there still isn't any information concerning porting a Sprint E4GT over to US Cellular that I can find. Unless you can find a howto guide out there somewhere, it's going to be next to impossible to do. Maybe somebody will chip in here and let you know.

The lack (ok, extinction of) results on google is what prompted me to post on here. Glad it's got some attention, hopefully someone has a solution for me...
Please tread very lightly when talking about flashing cdma to another carrier. I know it can be done and is done everyday but talk about esn spoofing and such is illegal and can not be discussed on xda.
I know someone has a blog relating to the matter.. but linking or discussing the matter is forbidden on xda..

Dialer code request...

Someone in the ATT S4 forum posted something interesting about a bloat switch. They posted a link to a post talking about a dialer code on a SGH-I317M that basically shows a screen of available carrier bloatware installations and allows for a phones firmware to be switched to a specific carrier market. The post does a good job of explaining this...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34524458&postcount=24 .
I was wondering if anyone was willing to try and see if this code works on the T-Mobile S4 *#272*IMEI# and if so, could someone post a screenshot of what it says. Of course, you have to assume responsibility for trying...if it blows your phone up, it's not my fault!
If it doesn't work, does anyone know of a code on this phone that will show this information?
I think it could be useful for people that want to use their T-Mobile S4 on the AT&T network or people that want to use their AT&T S4 on T-Mobile's network.
It seems counter productive to actually install bloat onto a phone but it could be useful for some and might help with wifi hotspot programs and other things that might be exclusive to each network.
Thanks.
This user PM'd me. Please don't PM me for support. I thought I'd post my reply publicly, as it may be useful to someone searching in the future.

Incidentally, the code does nothing. You don't need any AT&T software to use the device on AT&T and it is highly unlikely that the bootloader being locked/unlocked is at all dependent on such a simple software switch. It would be difficult and dangerous for it to be so.
You will need a SIM unlock regardless of CSC. If you purchase the device outright and it does not prove to be unlocked, T-Mobile should give you a code.

As I stated in another thread, I cannot confirm AT&T LTE band support (unlikely) but you can use their HSPA+ bands.

Help with ordering S4

I want to order S4 but I want 32gb or 64gb and I am not sure if I should order T-mobile or AT&T model. I am on AT&T but I was thinking of going to T-mobile but I like to see how good is there LTE service, as of now it is not in NEW York so I can’t test it. I think if I get the T-mobile one I can use it on AT&T for now and then switch. Also I wanted to know if I can run the App2ExtSD Hack on theS4. Please let me know..Thanks!!
i think these are all questions and therefore belong in QA section...
in regards to your question:
App2ExtSD Hack doesn't yet work

AT&T Note 2 in Munich, Germany

I'm headed to Munich for 6weeks for work, and I'd like to be able to use my phone while there. But, I refuse to pay at&t obscene amounts of money for local usage. I have the US issued AT&T model, not an international variant (as far as I know).
1: will my phone work with any of the providers there?
2: can someone please recommend a pre-pay provider or plan, or ones to steer clear of? At minimum phone and sms, but ideally with data access.
I also have an htc inspire 4g, whose tiny screen makes me cry, in case this phone won't work.
Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
When I moved here I used T-Mobile as my prepaid service. Also base aka eplus. Stay away from those two. Super slow. I am now on o2 which I have found to be best of all but I'm not sure if they do prepaid. I'd check o2 and T-Mobile first. Also. What are you doing for work in Munich. If your looking for stuff to do. Shoot me a pm and I can give you some suggestions on where to go.

Thank you for your response!
I was looking at tmobile today, but it's all in German, and Google translate wasn't helpful; I figured I'd go in person when I got there. I'll check out o2.
Have you had any issues with your note2 and the telcos, sms/data/calls?
I'm working in our munich office on a short-term project. I've been checking out travel info sites for things to do. I'll definitely shoot you a pm this week with some questions I have forming.
Thanks again!

Bad IMEI N900T Question

I've searched around for a definitive answer on this, but haven't found one.
I see a lot of N900T's advertised as unlocked with a bad IMEI. Does this mean that since it's unlocked I can use the phone with AT&T in the USA, just not with TMo? Does it depend on the specific N900T at hand or is there a uniform rule?
Thankful for any and all help.
Yes, you can use it on AT&T without issue. I am doing this for a few months. But, there is a chance AT&T and T-Mobile will someday share blacklists and it could be blocked by both networks.

What this means is the imei is block by tmobile. It will not connect to its network.
Now att and tmobile have started to share networks. So its possible that it will be block by att also.
Over sea carries dont share the same list. (at lest not for now.) so there good to go,
Also note that there is no way to remove the device from the blacklist. Also just because its fine right now on att it doesnt mean it wont get updated down the road.
Then you will be left with a phone that you cant use.
I stop buying phones online because its harder to trust people and when something goes wrong you get the bad part of it.
I know for a fact they have been sharing the same list for atleast a year or so if im correct. You might be able to use it,but chances are it wont work. sorry to burst your bubble. just sell it on ebay and you might be able to get more money off it! good luck
