[Q] CWM/Radio/Nandroid Issues - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've been having GPS issues, yeah I know, flash the radio I got told, used fake flash CWM 2.x to do it, somehow it didn't work... (said "successful" but radio version in "about phone" didn't change)
BUT apart from that, more importantly, since then whenever I use ROM Manager (v4.8.0.2) and select "Backup Current ROM" it
boots into CWM 5.0.2.0
Starts backing everything up
Get's to near the end and says "ERROR in backing up \sdcard\.android_secure"
Then it says please see the log
Then when I reboot into CM7 in Rom Manager the backup is there...
My question: I have enough SD Card space, and Nandroid backups went fine until I tried flashing the new radio...does this error I'm getting affect me being able to flash that Nandroid backup, is it corrupted? Or can I just ignore the error?
Thanks!

First of all format ur sd card in fat32 format using ur PC...then try again and if problem persists try another SD card....
For radio one try to flash new version or downgrade to older one...u can get it from shipped-rom.com or I'll attach it after few hours...

The SD card doesn't need formatting cause it worked fine like a day ago...? And it's in FAT32 already...
Shipped-ROMs doesn't offer radios, just RUU's which I don't really want, my ROM is fine it's just the radio...

Try a nandroid back up in normal phone recovery instead of using rom manager and see if it completes with no errors.

Hmmm that's odd, it worked fine doing it that way...thanks Maybe it was that the Revolutionary CWM is 4.x and Rom Manager is 5.x although why it stopped before is beyond me...it's working fine thru normal recovery though

@mattDN93-hey bro just download this radio version from http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Wildfire:_Support_Downloads
just reflash 3.35.20.10 it using cmw...if u r getting error just let me know i'll tell u another method...
i had tried this one nd my gps started working...

need help fast! stuck on incredible screen

So my phone now will only reboot up to the HTC Incredible white screen. I'm not even sure what the issue is, all i did last before it got stuck was erase data on an old sd card i had in the phone. Then I just did a reboot and it froze on the white screen.
I'm running GB evervolv 2.3.2 with 2.6.37.4 incredikernel.
I can get into HBOOT but when i click on recovery it takes me into fastboot everytime.
What can i do to fix this????
Sorry please move this thread to the Q&A section, i thought that's where I was posting it, my bad.
Go to the Clockwork Recovery thread and download the update for a different version and try getting that to flash via bootloader. That way you can at least get into recovery if you need to flash new. Just to clear it up, did you use your phone to delete stuff off the old card, by using Astro or ES file explorer? I know ES file explorer has root access so is there a chance you could've deleted a system file on accident? All it takes is a click of the SD card icon and you're in root instead of SDcard. Also this is probably a thread more for the Q&A subforum, just an fyi
i deleted an old sd card that i don't even use for my phone, i was just putting it in there to clear out whatever was left on it. so i could use it new.
And it still bootloops even when you put your normal SD card back in?
yup, i dunno what it's deal is.
I remember an older version of cm7 on the nook color warned against formating sd cards because it accidentaly formats the boot partition, this may be a bug that exists in the rom your using.
at least you can get into hboot, you should be able to download ruu image and flash it in hboot. this would get you back to stock, then root and install clockwork, and then restore your latest nandroid.
Flash this recovery in hboot
http://downloads.unrevoked.com/forever/recovery/clockworkmod/PB31IMG.ZIP
It should at least give you a working recovery.
i have to rename things as update.zip in order for hboot to flash them right??

NO leave it PB31IMG.ZIP.
hboot can only see that name. if you rename it hboot will not see it at all.
also make sure your card is formatted as FAT32
got it into recovery so i'm just wiping and restoring, thanks for the help!
ok now i'm getting a bootloop on the cm7 boot screen...i just went to flash that new instead of my nandroid because the nandroid was from an older rom.
Did you wipe everything? Davik, Cache, Data, etc?
wiped data and cache...didn't do davik because i've never had to in the past. but i'll give it a try.
would i need to update CMW from version 2.0+ to 3 in order for cm7 to work? because it's still bootlooping
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO ME!
i was on MIUI 1.3.25 (the newest GB release) and i was formatting an sd card and when i restarted my phone i got stuck at the splash screen! i have been able to boot back into cwm recovery but even when i wipe and flash, nothing works.
i booted into recovery and tried to restart from there - failed
i reflashed 3.18 (wiped cache/dalvik) - failed
i wiped all data and reflashed 3.18 - failed
wiped all, flashed 3.25, fixed permissions - stuck at splash screen again
restored an old MIUI (v1.1.15) - stuck at splash screen
pleaseee let me know if you figure this out
edit:
i ran the RUU and got stock to start working. i'm about to root and try flashing something

Are you getting errors when you wipe?like when you wipe data does it say error can't mount or anything like that.... I have a feeling you may have to flash an Ruu and then reroot
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
no, no errors. but i flashed the RUU and rerooted and everything works just fine. I flashed MIUI again and it worked perfect
thanks!
I figured that's what you would have to do glad you are back running

I always mount my sdcard in a linux and format/fix/repartion, or at least let Clockwork Recovery do it. I have never found a Sense, Vanilla, or AOSP ROM that handled SD partition operations very well, without at least a little tragedy.

This tends to be things go as far as ROMs partitioning my sd, always back it up externally and format/partition before transferring stuck back over to it while in phone.

[Q] Cant backup with CWM

I am trying to make a backup with CWM but it keeps hanging around 40-60% and than I have to pull the battery, because it wont do anything.
What I've done:
-S-OFF with ALFArevX beta
- installed CWM by having PC49.zip on sdcard and then go in HBOOT so it would ask to update
-ive rooted my phone with another .zip through CWM
and what should I have done with al the drivers i have downloaded on my pc to make it S-OFF, because i just left them in seperate folders
So... what do i have to do, to be able to make a backup with CWM and what did I do wrong>
EDIT: BTW what are the chances of making a full brick?
thankyou
it is when you are trying to make a nandroid backup, are you? if it is , make sure you have free space in your sd card (around 250-300mb)
yes it is when im trying to do a nandroid backup. i still have 960mb free space, so that couldnt be the problem, right?
Reflash different version of recovery and try again. And if your memory card can be formattable from connection in disk mode from PC, then there are no memory card read/write errors.
BTW, chances of brick are when flashing hboot and radio.

i have already tried with 3.0.0.6 and i used the one that is downloadable with rom manager, both didnt work. i havent tried to format sd, ill try that later maybe.
is CWM 4 fine to use or something experimental? if its fine, i will try to use that one

Using the latest 4.x recovery. And haven't had any issues. Of course I haven't had any issues with recoveries I used. But I haven't used the 3.0.0.6 one.
You can also use the 3.2.x recovery which fixes the offline charging (if you feel the 4.x recovery is experimental).

[Q] Can't boot my Desire with any ROM

Hi,
I am having some real problems with my Desire. I was using T-Mod (Leedroid) but thought I'd try out the RCMix ROM this arvo so I did all my backups and a Nandroid backup. I was using CWM 2.5.0.7 and this was fine before but I tried to flash RCMix on and it didn't work. I then tried to upgrade CWM to 3.2.0.8 unsuccessfully. I even tried upgrading from ext3 to ext4 and I formatted my 16GB SD card but that didn't help either.
I have not been able to upgrade anything yet and my phone will not even boot up stock. It is not letting me do any installs of zips, it says no files found and it won't let me do any Nandroid restores either.
So I am stuck with a useless phone that I can't even temporarily use because it won't boot past the Telstra boot screen. I can only get into bootloader and recovery. I have wiped everything but can't get anything to work. I am S-ON.
Can anybody help me? I'm at a loss and have been googling and trying things for hours upon hours tonight. It would be great just to even get back to stock....
Format your SD card (copy content to PC first!), go to fastboot and then try RUU from Telstra...
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using Tapatalk
The Telstra RUU didn't work because it's too old. I'm downloading the downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1 right now, so I'll try that and see what happens.
Any ideas why CWM can't see the zip files on my sd card?
Corrupted data perhaps...? Try formating your sd (all partitions - if any ext3/4) and rebuild your partitions... It should work...by your intel, it must be an sd card problem, have you tried another one...?
Sent from my cool Desire
I tried formatting it a few times. I tried both ext3 and also ext4 but it still couldn't see the zip files. I also formatted the FAT32 part. I used Gparted to do it with the FAT32 partition at the left and ext3/4 on the right. I tried it at 2GB but it didn't like it so I tried 1.8GB and then it recognised the ext3/4 part but still can't see the zip files.
Just finished downloading the downgrade so will try that now.
Perhaps something is wrong with my sdcard..?
The downgrade failed but I've managed to flash RCMix on with a different 2GB sdcard. I have tried to use the other card again but CWM still can't find any files on it for some reason. Gparted is also not loading it anymore so perhaps that 16GB sdcard is dead. Looks like I'm going to need to buy a new 16GB sdcard so I can store my music on there again as 1GB is being used for the ext3 partition.
Does this sound about right, that the sdcard is dead?
I can still use and access it in windows, it just won't work on the phone.
I found that if the cards file system is on the way out cwm nicely wipes it for me. If after several formats its the same, it may well be a dead card
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
yeah ok, I've formatted it numerous times and it still won't read any zips. I wasted so much time when all I had to do was use another sdcard....sucks so much.
Also how do I permanently upgrade CWM from 2.5.0.7? I have to keep fake flashing 3.2.0.8 at the moment.
I was thinking when I get my new sdcard that I'll try and do S-OFF. Is it worth it? Should I bother?
Oh god yeah. Fake flash has so many flaws. S-off and fastboot flash recovery.img. see fastboot faq in my signature
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
ok thanks, I'll try S-OFF and flash a new recovery.img when I get a new sdcard.
Which version of CWM is best to use? I was going to use 3.2.0.8 because that's what was said to use with RCMix.
I use 5.0.2.0 for some time now and I haven't had any problems at all.

Cool thanks. I can't use 2.5.0.7 though as apparently it won't work well with the ROM I'm using.

And why not? You get errors?
I did have some issues but never mind all that now. I bought a new 16gb card today and am now S-OFF thanks to the revolutionary method and have flashed cwm 5.0.2.0, a new splash img and boot animation. Now to set up the rest of my phone. I'm a happy chappy!

[Q] ClockworkMod not backing up sd-ext

Hi everyone!
From some time on, my Clockworkmod (v 2.5.0.7) backups do not create a correct sd-ext.img file. The file results as being a 0Kb file. Quite bizarre, as I am running a data2sd ROM! Once the backups were working correctly, but now if I try to do a Nandroid restore, the Md5sum mismatch and I cannot proceed further. And that's ok, because otherwise I would not have a correct restore!
The ROM is working well on my phone and I can see no problems at all in my day-to-day use.
Nonetheless, I have had a lot of problems with my actual sd card lately, and I have wiped and reinstalled the rom from scratch quite a few times. Can I have messed up something?
If I insert a brand new sd card (which I'm planning to buy anyway), in your opinion the problem might be solved?
upgrade CM to the newest version (I think 5.0.2.0 is the newest one) and see the result. Upgrade can be done using Rom Manager.

Thanks but for the ROM I'm using version 2.5.0.7 is recommended. And no-one else is experiencing my same problems. I'd like to know why... if possible!

I think you can try to use rmd recovery or 4ext recovery.
With data2sd it means you use sibere script and maybe also droidzone rom.
And if im not wrong, droidzone is using 4ext recovery.
And i use rmd recovery and never get problem to backup and restore data2w or data2ext rom (never tried data2sd yet, but it should works too..

[Q] cm7 flashing problem

error saying that E:cant open/sdcard/cm7.zip (bad)
installation aborted
First make sure your phone is S-OFF AND ROOTED. If it is then the .zip file might be corrupt or something, so just download it again.
Well I think it's something like that anyway.
it is s-off and im already running cm7 but i want to reflash and i dont think there's a problem with the zip file
I think you are using wrong recovery
Let me guess it is yellow from XDA?
You must use blue CWM from Alquez
Got the same problem yesterday.
What I did was updated cwm from general section and it worked
im using blue one....can u send the link nihal??
here's it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213229
so 1st put it in ur sd card then go in recovery and then it'll ask u to apdate automatically on the 1st screen where it shows hboot version and all so after updating remove this and then add the rom files and then just install the rom after clearing those cache's and all.
im using this oly but still cant flash even after clean wipe
can u give more info and some pics
sorry cant upload pic...while i try flashing it says opening package then updating package then E : Can't open /sdcard/Roms/update-cm-7.zip ( bad) then Installation aborted....i googled it and many have the same problem

More info like GSM or CDMA, where you got the rom you are trying to use, etc...
Are you CDMA or GSM.
What CM7 are you trying to use?
Did you try the latest nightly build for GSM here:
From clockwork mod to clean install wipe factory data then mounts format system then flash zip from sd then choose the nightly=Clean install.
Try reformatting your microSd card.
SD Formatter 3.1 for SD/SDHC/SDXC
I've tried everything ..Im usin gsm...I want cm7 not nightly ...I've formatted sd card n tried n still doesn't work ...I've also tried flashing cm7 nightly but same error...
