Ok so i flashed the dk28 modem via the flashable zip in clockwork and says successful then i tried flashing noobnls odex 2.2 rom and says it completes then i reboot then it goes to the samsung screen then reboots from there to the samsung screen to stock recovery, im still able to get in clock work and im flashing stock 2.1 rom back now and it worked.
Any ideas what can be causing this to hapen while trying to flash this?
Also without odin how can i get back to d118 modem? i tried the flashable zip that firon made but doesnt seem to work. i get an error 7 or something and im stuck with dk28?
I didn't even know they had a flashable modem.zip for Clockwork.
Did you try just using Odin?

Well it flashed fine and when i reboot my phone to d118 stock zip, it says i have dk28 baseband version.
When i flashed the rom it flashed like it should of and then i reboot sat at the samsung screen a couple of seconds then it rebooted again to samsung screen then stock purple recovery.
i think im going to do a bunch a wipes odin back to d118 stock complete, however i dont know what is the best to use to save all my apps and settings and what not?
Anyone have the best suggestion?
Is it possible just to flash the d118 modem back via odin? rather then everything?

Yes just open up the full di18 tar file and pull the modem file out. Then you use that with the pit file to flash to in Odin. Why don't you just use Odin to flash the dk28 rom instead of the update.zip? Using that method caused to many problems cause it wasn't a fresh install. I know you want something to backup all your apps but it's always better to do a fresh install. You can always to do a NAND backup and then do an advanced restore of data.

Ok I will do that, i was reading up on odin and btw how do i open the tar file when its an md5 file do i change the extension to tar and open it with winrar?
update ok that worked, now in odin do i put the modem in the phone section cause the pda section wont take the bin file.
Ok so i got the modem.bin out of the tar file, do i put that in the phone section in odin and that will take my modem back to d118 and thats all odin will do if i just put the modem there and the pit file? It will just flash the modem right?
I have a question:
I'm presently runningthe Nocturnal Venum AOKP rom (which is awesome
I might add) but this question actually has impications on all the
ICS 4.03 & 4.04 roms. After Flashing the rom and whatever else you
flash through the EL26 CWM(5.027) based kernel and rebooting you
loose that CWM and must get CWM from the Play Store.
My question is this; Say I want to flash a new modem must I Odin
the EL26 kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514665
using the method per kbizzle and then flash new modem and reflash
ICS kernel? This is important to know as the only unrecoverable brick I
have manufactured is with the flashing that goes between gingerbread
based recovery to ICS rom and attenpting to go back. I admit I'm a 50
something year old noob with building pc's as my experience before
getting into the android game so I wont pretend I'm something I'm
not! I have flased better than 100 roms and am learning more with
each possible bricking roll of the dice flashing I do and I have
bricked my share. Is their a CWM in the works for flashing modems
and so on in the works? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
to flash a modem, simply flash the .bin file in Odin. no need to use recovery and it doesn't add to the Odin count.
DO NOT USE CWM FROM THE PLAY STORE!!!!
Odin el26 cwm, clear dalvik cache, flash whatever mod you're wanting to flash, flash AOSP ICS kernel, reboot.
worked like a charm
I was having the same problem flashing modems on Nocturnal Venum. Didnt know we had to flash the kernel along with it. Needless to say working great now
It would be in your best interest to flash using ODIN. You won't have to go back to a GB kernel to flash a modem with ODIN.
You can flash with CWM, but I wouldn't in the AOKP/AOSP situation you're in.
Flashing new ICS modem
OK cnstarz,
That's what I needed to know and appreciate your prompt response! You raise another question which is was using or wanting to use CWM for nandroid backup but as it wouldn't flash modem, the nandroid backup is also out of the question. I plan on using the rom I'm on now as a daily driver but like to try others out and know that I have to basically Odin back to gingerbread to either try another gingerbread rom or to do another ICS rom. So, my guess is I have no nandroid option or is there?
Again thanks for your help.
I have installed several roms with no issues in the past, but I seem to have gotten myself turned around. I had no issues with ICS roms, but I can't quite remember what process I was using. I am wanting to install CM10, and I tried using ODIN 1.85 to install the EL26 tar, but when my phone rebooted into CWM, I wasn't sure what to do from there. I am using ODIN to go back to GB (Odin One Click) right now, and then I am going to flash CM10...could anyone provide me any direction? I am reverting to GB from stock ICS. I read in the wiki that flashing to GB from ICS with a bad USB cable can cause brick? Was the flash necessary, or could I have just stuck with flashing the EL26 tar file, and done a factory wipe/reset, dalvik cache wipe, etc from there. I have no idea why I am so confused. Thanks for the help.
I guess the bigger question may be as well...do I need to flash back to stock GB before flashing any rom, or is flashing the EL26 CWM tar file in ODIN 1.85 sufficient, and then reboot into that recovery (vol up + power) and wipe and flash zips from there?
Thanks!
Using the el26+cwm kernel for recovery is OK, it's not necessary to revert the entire rom to GB. You just won't be able to boot to your ics rom when having el26 installed since a GB kernel won't boot an ICS rom.

Ok so I decided to flash the jellybean based Goodness rom on my epic 4g touch. Before I flashed the rom everything on my phone was working great but now I have 2 issues. First my data on my phone is not working unless I have 4g which I rarely have. So I decided to restore my phone from a previous backup but when I went to reboot into recovery CWM recovery was gone. Does anyone know why first my data on my phone is gone and how I can get CWM back on my phone? I am on FI27 and if you need any other info let me know.
First you need to make sure that you have a jellybean modem installed with goodness rom fk09 thru fl16 recent. Second after flashing jellybean leak there isnt a custom recovery as of yet we use el26 or el29 direct boot one click to flash add ons or what not. So I would suggest el26 direct boot then flash goodness again and get a copy of the fl16 modem and kernel before you flash and flash all together then you should be good. Some have reported that they had to flash the stock leak then el26 then flash rom modem kernel.

If you can still boot Goodness, use Mobile Odin and flash their suggested kernel and later the modem. I think Goodness was fk23. I did that same thing too many times and forgot to odin my CWM before I decided I'd install a couple zips and found I was at a stock CWM.

Wow guys thanks for your help but its likebu guys are talking another language. Would it be possible for u to tell me what to do step by step? If u need any info let me know

You can still boot your phone with "Goodness" rom correct? I may be spanked because there is other ways, i'm sure but I would download one of the tar files in my last post and probably the FK23 tar (first link).
Download FK23 Modem here NOW!! http://rwilco12.androidfilehost.com/ModemSite/MODEMS/JB/ZIP/FK23.zip Zip is for flashing in CWM..
If you don't have Mobile Odin, I would download it and keep it in your arsenal for when you're away from your PC and Purchase Pro later.
Download the tar, open Mobile Odin and click Kernel. Find the tar file which should be in your Download directory then scroll to the bottom and flash. Always let Odin check the MD5.
Reboot and you'll have your CWM and FK23 Kernel, While in CWM install the modem zip you should have downloaded in the link above.
See how that works and with CWM of course you'll be able to try the other modems and see what works best. My mobile Odin does flash modems (could be because of it being the Pro version) and not sure why I've seen others say it doesnt. Must like me!!
Bluesrulez did make me aware that, if your market hangs while downloading, then it is more than likely due to the repack kernel you will be flashing. May have to try another kernel afterwards but just in case.
Yes u must b on job modem. There r other safe custom recoveries like Christy 41gs v6 ics. I backed up and flashed everything with agats fk23 repacked kernal. Worked fine 4 me. U can't use an ics modem to flash stock job ROMs and such. The aosp 4.2.1 ROM is the only 1 I know that uses a ics fi27modem.
Worked for me...
Worked like a charm for me once I got the Pro version Mobile Odin....thanks.
I need some tips on flashing EL26 or EL29 recovery kernals from GB27 rom.
When flashed (odin, mobile odin, and zip) my phone gets stuck on the first Samsung E4GT logo. No recovery is added, volume up and power only reboots device to same logo.
Ive done this flash before and never had an issue. I dont know what could be the issue.
Would flashing a stock GB or ICS rom and pretty much starting from scratch be a good idea?
I guess my question is are there issues with flashing from GB27 to EL26/29? Do I need to be on a specific kernal? My only fear is if I flash a stock GB rom I wont have a kernal to flash anything else.
Could there be something wrong with my phone? It really seems to me flashing from my current rom isnt compatable.
Please send me some tips and advice on what roms to flash to get back to an el26 so I can proceed with my goal in all this which is flashing the new SHOstock rom with multi window.
Thank you and I appreciate any help!

It wouldn't hurt starting from scratch. It sounds like your current Rom is having some sort of conflict with the EL26/EL29 CWM kernels. Have you tried flashing a gb27 cwm recovery? That will allow you to flash a new rom. They are stable as dd's now and I use them all the time. Try Garwynn or Agat's gb27, they both come with Agat's custom recovery which has cwm. If that doesn't take, might as well save all your important stuff and give a fresh start a try . Good luck.

I have agats gb27 loaded and can flash from it. I need chris 44g el26 or 29 kernel to flash a specific rom. Rom does not load correctly in agats. Many people had issues and per instructions, user 26/29. I will try to start from scratch.

You can use the stock rooted restore gb08 that's what I used to fix that problem. Try following ny guide to get it running perfect after you Odin the stock rooted.

I gave flashing stock GB08 rooted a shot. I then flashed EL29 and EL26. Still does the same thing.
Doesnt boot to CWM.
If I flash a Gingerbread rom, since my EL26/29 isnt working, will I be able to access my current GB27 state I am in now without issue?
My AGAT GB27 is doing me well to retrieve all my current backups.
I dont want to go back to Gingerbread and not have a recovery to use because it uses EL26/29. So I would be screwed, correct?
Thanks!
I am trying to flash EL29 Gingerbread Stock Rom with Root.
This doesnt work as well. Odin freezes on the flash at FactoryFS.img.
Does anyone know why it would freeze on this file?
I've tried multiple tar files, different ports, different cords, two versions of odin.
I let it sit for 30 minutes and nothing. What caused the factoryfs.img file to freeze?
What hardware in the phone could cause this issue?
Any help wouldbe appreciated. All I want is EL26/[email protected]#$ WHYYYY!
If you flash el26 or 29 over ICS or JB your phone will not boot past splash screen. I always use el26 with odin from PC, kernel is flashed from pda slot. Reboot the phone and hold then keep holding power +vol up for like 30 seconds and you will boot into el26 recovery.
If you want to switch from from Touchwiz JB to AOSP or older GB/ICS rom you need to flash a ICS 1 click first like FI27 then flash el26 kernel and flash rom. If you are trying to flash the rooted el29 one click rom it should work. Maybe bad cable. I only flash with blackberry microusb cables.
el26 el29
IM stuck in flash screen. I have el26/el29 in tar.md5 I need them in zip format to flash on Odin. I don't have computer access. Stock cwm-El26.tar and El29 direct boot cwm.tar ?? Any way to get them in zip so I can flash in Odin.

You are confused my friend. Odin uses .tar or .tar.md5 files and CWM recovery uses .zip files. And if you're stuck at splash screen after flashing el29 it's because you can't boot el26 or el29 unless you have that build rom on your phone. They are used for recovery only. Pull battery, reinsert, reboot into recovery, and flash the rom of your choice from there!(e4gt only of course)
