[How To] use Rom Manager to backup roms in MAGLDR - HD2 Android NAND Development

Hi Friends,
I have searched here on xda and hasnt found an guide on this so wanted to share with you. I was looking to backup my rom using the rom manager and I was on MAGLDR 1.13. Usually when you flash clockwork mod recovery from within the rom manager it damages the recovery in MAGLDR. so here are the steps to get it going:
1. Install the rom manager from market
2. Flash the clockwork mod recovery within the rom manager (this breaks our recovery)
3. Download the latest recovery image from here
4. Then extract the file (recovery_leo.img) in the root of C: (that is where it comes handy)
5. Connect your device to pc and check whether is shown under
Code:
adb devices
command
6. Then go the command prompt and enter the following commands:
Code:
adb shell
su
flash_image recovery c:\recovery_leo.img(the image file which we extracted)
7. Then go back to ROM MANAGER on your phone and select backup current rom(as soon as you do it your phone will reboots)
8. Press and hold the powerdown on the MAGLDR screen to access the MAGLDR menu and scroll to the AD Recovery option by using the volume buttons then press the green call key.
9. Voila!! It will start backup and then reboot back you to the rom. There you have your backup from the ROM MANAGER.
PS: The same thing can be done via the CWM's Backup & Restore menu just wanted to share what I have found.

that's a good shortcut for backing up roms , it will save time going into CWM and manually selecting the nandroid backup. So pretty much this suspends the command for a backup in the rom manager until you boot into CWM from MGLRD.
Awesome, if only we could figure out a way to automate the command to reboot and select AD Recovery that would be perfect.

for that we need the source code for MAGLDR

CM6 Bootloader Loop Error! EVO 4G

I Have An Evo 4G, Rooted With UnrEVOked Forever. Used Rom Manager to Install Clockmod Recovery And To Install Cyanogen Mod 6. Before This, I Put a PC36IMG zip that had Splash1 in it, from the unrevoked site and instead of saying HTC EVO 4G in a bright white screen, its UNREVOKED with bright white screen. it then goes into a cyanogen mod bootloader animation that i got off the market called Boot changer lite or something? and it loops over and over showing either the cyanogen mod title, or it just gets to the cyan dude with a skateboard but freezes. i tried putting different PC36IMG files and using clockmod recovery to push it on sd and load it, but it says
-- Installing: /sdcard/PC36IMG.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing Update...
Installation Aborted.
HELP ME PLEASE!!!
Flash a stock rooted ROM from http://goo-inside.me/evo/stock/ and then using ROM Manager, flash the alternate recovery (Amon_RA Recovery 1.8.0), then download CyanogenMod 6.1.2 ( http://goo-inside.me/cm/supersonic/stable/ ), copy it to the root of your SD card, remove any PC36IMG.zip, boot into recovery, and flash the ZIP from there.
how do i use rom manager when my screen is looping the boot animation over and over? i can flash stock rooted rom using clockwork recovery 3.0.0.2, and flash the recovery amon_RA? im sorry i am a noob and i would ask for step by step, not very detailed but to where i can know what to do first, if you have time?
1) Flash the stock rooted 3.70.651.1 ROM from my link above (here it is again), via ClockworkMod Recovery.
I'm going to assume you have an older phone with the older partition structure. For more information, and to tell what structure you have, check out this thread once you complete Step 1, before you do Step 2. I'm also going to assume you have the Android SDK installed and set up. If you do, just open your Command Prompt, cd to your SDK\platform-tools folder, and run the command "adb shell cat /proc/mtd" (without the quotes). If you see an erase size of 20000, then continue. If you see 40000, STOP and let us know.
DO NOT CONTINUE IF YOU HAVE THE NEW PARTITION ERASE SIZE OF 40000!
2) Once you boot up into the ROM, download ROM Manager from the Market, if it's not already included in the ROM. You will of course have to add your Google account in order to access the Market.
3) Open ROM Manager, scroll to the bottom, and tap "Flash Alternate Recovery"
4a) Once it has finished flashing, download CyanogenMod 6.1.2 using your browser at the above link (here's the link again). You'll want the file update-cm-6.1.2-Supersonic-signed.zip.
4b) Also download the attached FORMAT_ALL.zip. This will help ensure you don't have any files from Sense accidentally carry over into CM.
4c) Finally, download the latest HDPI Google Apps package from here (the latest one has a link at the top of the page, and is the gapps-hdpi-20101114-signed.zip file).
5a) If you downloaded via your phone, use a file manager of your choice (I like Root Explorer, but there's free ones like OI File Manager in the Market) to move the three ZIPs from /sdcard/download/ to /sdcard/ (aka, the root of your SD card).
5b) If you downloaded via your computer, attach your phone to your computer via USB, turn on Disk mode, and copy the three ZIP files to the root of your SD card.
6) Power off your phone, then hold down Volume Down and Power to turn it back on. If you're taken to a white screen with skating Androids on the bottom (aka, hboot), then press Volume Down until RECOVERY is highlighted, then press the power button.
7) You should now be at a black screen with yellow text. This is Amon_RA recovery. Press Volume Down until you highlight Backup/Restore, and press Power. Press Volume Down and highly Nand Backup, and press Power again. Press Power one more time to confirm the start of the backup. It'll then take a few minutes to perform the backup (depending on how fast your SD card is).
8) Once it's done, you'll be back at the Backup/Restore menu. Make sure Return is highlighted, then press Power. Press Volume Down until Flash zip from sdcard is highlighted, then press Power to select it. Use Volume Down to highlight FORMAT_ALL.zip and press Power twice to select it, then confirm the flash.
9) Once that's done, scroll back to Flash zip from sdcard, then select update-cm-6.1.2-Supersonic-signed.zip. Press Power twice to select then confirm it.
10) Finally, go back to the Flash zip from sdcard menu one last time, highlight gapps-hdpi-20101114-signed.zip, and press power twice to select and confirm.
11) Finally, select Reboot phone now, and wait. The first boot will be a few minutes (it has to rebuild its caches), but after it's loaded, the Tutorial "Welcome to your PC36100" screen will show up. Congratulations, you have CyanogenMod!
thanks aloottt mate! cm6 is runnning amazing, but where can i get my gapps back? just the gapps, i downloaded "youtube" and "mail!" but i click the app and it says Force Close Everytime? i have angry birds and all from custom downloads and theyre fine, just the gapps is what i want. can i get the market at least? or a substitute like appbrain?
If you followed the directions I gave, it tells you to download the gapps package, and flash it. Make sure you flash the HDPI package only, not the MDPI or MDPI-tiny.

[KERNEL] [2.6.35.10] [FIXED] T-Mobile US G2 Kernel from Test Leak

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!
Wait, let me say that again... use at your own risk! I am not responsible for bricked devices, loss of sanity, or nuclear holocaust!!
This is the extracted Kernel boot.img file from the G2 test leak 2.13.531.5 Gingerbread ROM. This boot.img has only been tested on Ultimate Droid 3.3.0 which resulted in some force closes. I can only suggest using this Kernel on ROMs built from the test leak (i.e. upcoming Virtuous, etc.). Multiple attempts were made to format this boot.img into a CWM flashable zip, however MANY attempts were failed with corrupt .init files and the system folder not mounting on on boot, ultimately resulting in the phone hanging on the HTC logo screen. This kernel has not been tested on the latest Cyanogenmod 7.0.3 build, so as stated before, flash at your own risk.
You WILL have to flash this kernel using fastboot, instructions are below for those who are unfamiliar. These instructions are for Mac / *NIX computers, however I do believe the Windows process is very similar. Read thru the instructions and understand them before beginning!!
1.) Extract the img file from the zip file, and rename it to "boot.img" (No quotes)
2.) Reboot into recovery and perform a nandroid backup. (DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!!)
4.) Reboot device into fastboot, NOT HBOOT! (If you are unsure, boot into the bootload by powering off the device, then powering on the device by holding Volume Down & Power buttons, then selecting FASTBOOT from the menu and pressing Power to select).
5.) Ensure USB Debugging Mode is enabled on your device and connect it via USB to your computer.
6.) Open a terminal prompt and navigate to the folder where the "boot.img" file you extracted is.
7.) Type "fastboot flash boot boot.img" (NO quotes)
8.) DO NOT INTERRUPT THE PROCESS!!Once it has completed, type "fastboot reboot" (NO quotes).
I have enlisted the help of pershoot and koush on resolving the CWM flashable zip issue, and I will post it once all issues have been ironed out. If the kernel works for you, enjoy! If not... follow the directions below.
1.) Reboot device into CWM RECOVERY.
2.) Select "Backup & Restore".
3.) Select "Advanced Restore".
4.) Select your backup that you were instructed to created.
5.) Select "Restore boot"
6.) Select "Yes"
7.) Do NOT interrupt process, once completed, reboot device from CWM main menu.
The above instructions will restore your phone to the previously working state without having to do a complete restore.

Enjoy!
I should also note that this boot.img file is UNTOUCHED! No alterations or changes were made to it!

Apparently the file did not upload correctly to multiupload. Not sure how it happened but I apologize for this and will have it fixed as soon as I get home from work.

Link is fixed. Had to put it on Megaupload only for the moment as that was all I could do from my phone. Sorry for the inconvenience folks.

Hi everyone! I'm a Newbie Here
I have a Blu Dash and I was able to install CWM by using the following thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40433602&postcount=122
I've been using this image by the Android Screen Monitor (asm.jar)
But when I install this new method I'm not able to see anything in the smartphone's screen.
When I apply update.zip, the smartphone reboot
So, I back to the previous way
What could I be missing?

Layman's guide to installing cm11 (kitkat) ouya firmware

LAYMAN'S GUIDE TO INSTALLING CM11 KITKAT FIRMWARE ON THE OUYA
Download the zip file in this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYwZ_l31-G8 youtube video description, follow this guide or follow my directions taken from his guide and made slightly different, all thanks go to the original creator without him i could not write this, i have done as i and others wished to know how to install cynogenmod CM11 firmware kitkat software on their ouya console.
STEP 1. This i cannot really guide you on in depth, you must have already installed clockworkmod recovery 6.0.3.2 if you do not have it you cannot do this firmware flash, you can download and use a tool called ouya oneclickrecovery.zip you extract it on your pc and run the .bat file in the folder for windows you extracted if on xp like me,but you must have fastboot and also adb drivers installed and once you make sure the ouya has clockworkmod recovery on it and you go into recovery and made a valid backup made in clockworkmod recovery,i suggest you go into the root of
your ouya (the main storage where sdcard and other folders reside)
and copy the clockworkmod folder with the backup in to an external drive,my guess here is you could copy the backup folder to restore from if you go back to ouya later.
STEP 2.Copy cm-11-20140510-UNOFFICIAL-ouya.zip, gapps-kk-20140105-signed.zip, ouyabootmenu-mlq-v2.0.4.zip, OuyaCWMrecovery6.0.3.2.img, recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.7-ouya.zip, if you watch the video you can follow that guide but i will not be installing ouya-keylayouts.zip so i'm skipping that. Just copy all those files to your ouya sdcard not an external sd card the ouyas internal sdcard, you must have these to do the firmware flash.
STEP 3.Now once clockwork is on and you are backed up reboot into recovery i just use rom manager app and choose reboot recovery option for this task it's easier, you will need to download that.Once in recovery you can go to step 4.
STEP 4.in recovery mode (clockworkmod recovery 6.0.3.2 ) choose install from zip option then installzip from sdcard and go to download find clockworkmod 6.0.4.7.zip file and select it scroll down to yes and click it when it says completed successfully go to reboot and click on no if asked after clicking reboot, you now are back to the ouya main screen go to rom manager app again choose reboot into recovery option, you should now be in the newer blue tone clockworkmod recovery menu version 6.0.4.7
STEP 5.choose wipe factory data reset then go back by scrolling down and selecting go back
STEP 6.Now select wipe cache and wipe the cache then go down to go back and click that, your back to the main recovery menu again
STEP 7.Now go to advanced and choose wipe dalvik cache and wipe it and go down to go back and choose that to land at the main recovery menu again
STEP 8.Click install from zip and choose install from sdcard then choose download folder then choose ouyabootmenu-mlq-v2.0.4.zip and install it then choose go back
STEP 9.Click install from zip and choose install from sdcard then choose download folder then choose cm-11-20140510-UNOFFICIAL-ouya.zip and install it then choose go back
STEP 10.Click install from zip and choose install from sdcard then choose download folder then gapps-kk-20140105-signed.zip and install it then choose go back
STEP 11.Now choose reboot system and say nop to the following question, the system will now reboot and a menu appears, this is bootmenu do not touch anything. You will now boot into Cynogenmod C11 kikat firmware
STEP 12.Follow the setup procedure you need wifi for this i believe but don't quote me?
Job Done PHEW!
UPDATE: If you already have rooted and installed clockworkmod recovery then simply download the file linked at the top and extract it,then start at STEP 2.
A COULE OF ADDED NOTES: I had setup xbmc with addons prior to the cm11 installation and i moved it to an external drive upon returning from cm11 to stock ouya firmware i found: If you simply install the xbmc apk you used before because you moved the app all the attributing files are kept to the external drive and upon reinstallation the files are put back and therefore no reinstalling addons or downloading them is necissary.
ALSO NOTED: I found backing up the previous system before before CM11 installation does not allow you to restore from it,i think it's because android secure gets wiped or something?
ALSO NOTED IS: CM11 is not perfect but it is damn good to say the least, some bugs are browser closes at sudden intervals but does reopen to the last page still logged in?
Also if vpn unlimited is activated it reopens wifi as primary connection, this then disables the client working with ethernet plugged in until i disable wifi, also when vpn unlimited is automaticaly re-enabling the wifi the settings menu becomes inaccessible.
MORE IMPORTANTLY: To prevent the visual bugs or 99% of them turn on Disable HW overlays in developer options, enable developer options by going to settings/about tablet/hang over build number and click multiple times until developer options enabled message comes up.
Updated 20/10/2017
The youtube video no longer exists I realize this due to recently getting a new ouya yesterday it arrived, I already bricked then unbricked it and then modded it a couple of times before trying with my guide here which I had forgotten existed to be honest, in t but using this new package aposed to the package from the youtube linked above I got it going well again just swap the files in the guide to the ones in the below webpage, just hit the big red download button on the page to download.
https://www.s-config.com/cyanogen-mod-and-the-ouya/
Also you can also use this link to simply root the ouya to on it's own it's a .apk file an android application that you execute clicking on it from the download folder, for access to download folder use a ouya file manager like filepwn I believe it is , package of the kingo root app is here: https://mega.nz/#!Zcxw0Q7a!Vc-Fw7eOhekU98-phgSdHjj_vNyztV2EdOIvWoY26Qk
This lot is becoming hard to acquire now so get them and hold them for a rainy day is my advice here.
Good guide. It should help a lot of people get the most out if their OUYA.

A little more help on step one please...
Nice guide, but it seems that the first step if one of the most important, could you be a little more specific? Thanks for this guide I was like crazy searching for something like this
