Hi,
I recently flashed the upgrade to Android 2.3.3 and it has upgraded my HBOOT to 1.02 so I cannot root my phone
I tried following a guide for downgrading a different HBOOT with Evo but it obviously didn't work!
Any suggestions?

Apologies if I have. I assumed this would be more of a development issue than general Q&A
have u tried unrev0ked? latest version?
if u still unable to root, just try running older RUU.. getting back to 2.2 and then Root.
Edit: and this isn't the right forum to ask Q like this

i'll be relatively kind: try harder.
there have been ruder responses than mine, but trust me, many people have asked how to root 2.3.3...............

Maybe we should all resolve NOT to answer any qn asked in DEV. We can answer when it is moved? Just a suggestion.
I have reported it. I have considered that approach before but as it had already been answered correctly and incorrectly, I thought it only best to help.

Hi folks!
I need some help to choose my new recovery.
ATM i have the an S-OFF desire with Clockworkmod 2.5.1.2, that lead me to the USB brick (and a lot of swear) pretty often when i do a nandroid backup.
Now i see there are a lot of new recovery, with a lot of feature and so on.
What I will choose? I see RMD, new version of AmonRA, CWM, 4EXT etc.
I can flash it with Android Flasher?

You have searched the forum?? Yet you post in the wrong area?
Your asking a question, yet not in the QUESTION AND ANSWER?
And there is so much info on recoveries! I'd say seach again

Hi,
How can I root GN android 4.2.2.
my device is already unlocked. I tried GN toolkit but the latest android is not available.
your help is highly appreciated.
Root it like every other nexus device:
fastboot flash a custom recovery
reboot recovery
flash supersu.zip
Learn adb and fastboot. Toolkits are just about the worst thing XDA has ever birthed. If you can't learn to use a basic command prompt you definitely shouldn't be rooting or otherwise modifying your device.

with the release of 4.2.2, it has become evident that 99% of the people here arent interested in learning anything. you should see the Nexus 7 section. The mods wont even do anything over there.

would you mind to check the rom request thread on questions and answers secion, you might be interested in making that rom, because i belevieve that that kind of rom would be the most successful one out there for wfs.
Hi guys, I was looking at rooting my phone. However there are some issues I have with it that hopefully you guys can rectify.
How can I update?
What is the most popular rom?
Is it worth rooting?
My main reason for rooting is getting rid of the bloatware from samsung and optus on my phone. I also want to customize Nova launcher with icon themes but I can do that without a root. What other things can I do with my phone with a root?
Is rooting hard? And how do I backup my phone before I do it? Searching around on here I came across an app called Titanium Backup but you have to be rooted to backup with that?
There is so many more questions I want to ask, but I will leave it at this for now.
Thank you!
Can anyone please help me?

Bumping your topic after a couple of house inst going help. Could just end up getting topic closed/deleted. This is not your phones tech support desk and nobody here owes you an answer so when you create a topic be patient. Also not putting "help me please" as topic title would help, just be precise and descriptive about what topic is about.
To answer questions..
1. You flash rom through custom recovery.
2. There is no such thing as a "best" rom and asking this question is against rules.
3. Yes.
I would highly recommend you do some reading/research.

3) Ok.
Should I change my kernel to a different one than stock? My friends said it helps performance and battery life, but I don't know how stable they are. Could someone suggest a good one?
Last time I rooted my old phone I did a bad job of it, I lost all my stuff and I don't want it to happen this time.
If I buy Titanium Backup could this prevent this? I want to be able to update the ROM how can I do this, and what rom would you suggest in this case?
Thank you.

I already answered this earlier, please try and read.
Some ROM's like Cyanogenmod for example have inbuilt rom downloaders which will enable you to download next version and then flash it automatically.
However process is same, simply download new rom, reboot into rescue and then flash next version. No wipe is needed if its same base/version. You only need to wipe if going to new rom/base etc. Wipe will only wipe data partition on internal, your external is untouched.

If anyone is interested in doing this see the sticky in the n7105 thread the guy shows you how to install a custom recovery and install supersu 2.0 through that.
It is also great to try different roms, you can backup and install multiple roms to your liking.

The 816 can have its bootloader unlocked, thanks to HTCs website and some guides that can be found here. There are more roms around if you look hard enough. Some of the roms are not posted onto these forms, but most of the popular ones will be here. S-OFF/ON would be nice so we dont have to void our warranties by unlocking the bootloader, but without S OFF, its alot harder to brick your device, which is nice
