Hi.
I've been a long time lurker on here but never registered as I've always found answers to my questions.... until now! lol
I've always seemed to have the problem of the stock HTC browser getting it's self into a reload/refresh loop until the point at which the web site you were browsing becomes completely unusable.
I've had this problem since over had the phone regardless of the ROM I've been running. The only thing I've noticed it always seems to be in websites with a lot of advertisements.
Anyone else had this problem? I could use another browser but I do like the HTC one.

If you think its advert related, try installing adfree to block them.
Hi
Thanks for the advice, I've installed and run addfree and it doesn't seem to have worked.
Another thing I forgot to mention earlier was when the page reloads it seems to move it's self to the right little by little until it disappears and you are left with a completely white page.

FYI, With Adfree, if you are s-on still - you have to use the symlink to /data/data option
yeah I'm s-off.
One bad site for reloading is the tech radar site it continually reloads as soon as i get on there. Wish I could sort it it's really doing my head in

Hi,
Noticed the default browser seems a little less stable after upgrading to Froyo.
On some pages it just dies. Can open the page fine in Opera Mini.
Emailed HTC support and they suggest a hard reset.
Didn't expect that to work and I was right.
Anyone else seen this?
Here is a page which causes a crash for me. Please try it and see if it does the
same on your Desire.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-11079055
Thanks
Peter
I've seen it crash out on some pages. Sometimes just the scroll is completely disabled and unable to be used. A bit annoying to say the least and I've found no fix to it yet.
I have noticed it too, it seems it happens when on a bbc (could be others too) site with more than one flash video content window on the same page.
Yes crashes for me too... seems to be related to Javascript - the page will load if you disable it...
Only seems to happen on BBC pages... only half joking when I say its a deliberate anti-Android measure from the Apple-loving BBC...

Same here. Especially when being brought to the browser via HTC Peep or Seismic.
Same here, have had lots of crashes to desktop with stock froyo when loading www.bbc.co.uk/football
Thanks all. HTC's response of send your Desire back for a repair now seems like a poor answer from them. Did anyone notice this happening before the 2.2 Froyo update?
Or perhaps someone on 2.1 can see if that link crashes now.
This has been happening ever since the 2.2 upgrade.
Wonder if HTC will acknowledge its the firmware, not the hardware. Was fine before. Also, if you disable javascript, load the page, then re-enable it and refresh it'll often play the video without crashing, but as soon as you navigate to another page and try to play another video, it's back to the homescreen!
Odd that they would prefer to get me to send a handset back rather than say... sorry.. it's a bug. S/W bugs happen. As long as they get fixed not a big deal (well no in the mobile phone sector). Planes
I have responded say that I don't believe it's a hardware problem. Opera loads the page fine. See what they come back with.
www.bbc.co.uk/f1 was causing the default browser to quit, but today it is working fine.

I've only seen this on BBC pages so far - there were a couple of threads in the Q&A section about this a few days back (here), but to date I know of no solution other than disabling the plugins.
I've just come back from a month travelling the states and since the official froyo release hadn't come out when I left I have been using Android 2.1 daily whilst in the USA to keep up with the football news at bbc.co.uk/football and never had a problem. Since I got back to the UK and upgraded to 2.2 I have problems accessing this page without getting a crash back to the homepage.
Therefore, I am certain that this is a problem caused by the official 2.2 rom
it's good to know I'm not the only one having these problems on the BBC site. I've been running 2.2 since the OTA launch and have been having no problems until now.
The problem seems to have started (at least for me) some time this week, as I was able to stream some of the BBC F1 content on Wednesday(25/08). It was only when I was trying to access content yesterday (27/08) that this problem started.
Is this happening just with the BBC, or are there other sites that have this issue?
I first noticed this problem on Monday 23rd August (when i updated to Froyo) and haven't encountered it on any other sites yet.
I have also tried the stock OTA 2.2 and a rooted custom 2.2 rom (leedroid) and both of them would crash on the bbc site
I seem to have fixed it for now. I just cleared data from the internet application and no more crashes on BBC pages. You will lose bookmarks so make sure these are syncd with HTC sync 3 first. This may be a temp fix, so let's see how long it lasts.

It's caused by flash overload as was mentioned above.
With the stock browser open go to Menu / More / Settings / Enable Plugins and use the arrow to select 'on demand' from the list.
Flash objects on the page will be replaced by a green arrow and will only load when clicked.
The pages should load ok now. If you have several windows open and try to load a heavy flash object the browser will force close.
It's not a perma fix but plugins 'On Demand' allows you to browse at least.
That's not necessarily always the case here. I only use on-demand and many BBC and such sites are crashing the browser in 2.2 whereas they aren't in 2.1. Now all those pages have embedded Flash content and there is never a crash on a Flash-less page so it might well be an Adobe Flash issue. I had no crashes before the last Adobe update.

How do you disable Javascript?
In the browser Settings there's an option to enable/disable it from there...

It's not just the bbc site,I've got this website where I watch live football online via my desire.it was fine before yesterday, but now when trying to view some of the matches it just crashes and returns me to my homescreen.it was a good thing I didn't do a factory reset,it would've been a waste time.

Hi, when I first got my Desire Z back in the first UK batch the FOX News application never ran, it just crashed when I launched it, I deleted it, tried redownloading it, even had a friend "app share" it with me but it never worked. I hard resetted my Desire Z for another reason so I thought I'd try to download it again but the same error occurs (see picture). Does this happen to anyone else?
(Also a previous search of "FOX News" on the XDA Dev forums forces me to ask you to leave out the Nazi/Beck/Hannity opinions!) I just want to know if it's my phone! Thanks!
I have a G2 and on stock rom it ran fine for me.
When I started using Virtuous and Cyanogen, one of them it worked on and the other it FC'd when you ran it.
I am on Virtuous right now but I am using their News app with the FoxNews RSS feed as a widget on one of my screens so I didn't bother to look at the app in a while.
If I get a chance later I will install the app on Virtuous and see if it crashes on launch.
Gday all, Hope everyone is having a better day then I am. Well I recently updated the HD Revolution to 2.0.5 I believe the latest is at the moment running Android 2.2, Managed to get rid of the expired launcherpro that was on the HD Theme I am thinking that's what's caused the problem. But I looked further into it and I did a fresh install of just the Rom and not the theme and for some reason now I can't seem to get the market to recognise superuser because that is one of the apps that will not update and is not picked up in the market as installed if anyone is having or have had the same problem can you please let me know its annoying the hell out of me and this needs to be fixed thanks
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Also I realise my super user is not installed correctly and when I try installing it again because it is not in my app manager or in the uninstaller as well this is also happening to setcpu but it does not appear anywhere let alone does not even show up in my app draw unlike superuser where it is in the app draw
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Hey again Well i Have come along way since my last post I have managed to fix a few problems that I had but now the weird thing is that for some reason superuser is now showing up everywhere but not in the app manager list and when i go to market to get the App because the market place still thinks its not installed it fails to install it says it cannot get a certificate of some kind but i looked it up and it told me to uninstall the app but I can't uninstall an app that i can't find if anyone has the solution Thanks in advanced
Edit: Well I have fixed superuser and setcpu and the other problems i have described is done but now i have stuffed something up i ran a non Australian Vodafone well it was not the Ace version of the stock rom anyway it was RUU well when i installed the RUU by accident it left a Splash logo before the boot animation and to describe what I am talking about instead of the HTC green logo its now got some rubbish squares in a line and a T in the middle sort of like this -------T----- but its squares if anyone knows how to change the logo i would really appreciate it
Thank you
Anyone noticed with chrome that occasionally the tab becomes 'stuck' and stays blank regardless of what site (or even bookmarks) you bring up.
Workaround is easy, open a new tab, presto.
But annoying, wondering if anyone seen this and/or come up with a fix.
This happened on stock 1.28, 1.29, now ARHD 7.1 (2.05 base) so I'm pretty sure its not caused by custom ROM.
i have it too

Yea happened to me too but it only started when I started to use viper. The problem wasn't present during the Pokemon days

Yep happens to me on stock, really annoying when viewing content heavy pages, keeping me on Firefox and the stock browser currently

yeah thinking of going back to stock browser until this is fixed!
Same happened to me on my one x as well. Just random blank pages... super annoying but just need to reload a new tab...
Doesn't happen on stock.

Im on the stock browser. This used to happen to me but since the chrome update, its gotten better.
It's got better since the update but this never use to happen when I was using my galaxy s 1.
On stock rom

Yes! Had enough and just reported bug today then coincidentally I see this.
One X to rule them all
Noticed it first time 2 updates ago, getting stuck at blank screen, especially on heavy pages with lot of pictures. Firefox better?
I get this with chrome on my galaxy tab too... Not sure it's anything to do with the One X. Don't think it used to happen with chrome beta so think it's due to some dodgy update.

I get this problem on my one x. It doesn't seem to do it with web pages but occasionally it'll stay blank when I try and open my bookmarks. The only way round it is to close that tab and open a new one. Hope they fix this soon

I'm getting this issue also. Using ICS Browser+ until it's fixed!
It's an issue which is addressed in the Known Issues list of Chrome for Android:
Pages are blank, distorted, or flickering on my HTC One V, HTC One X, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC Sensation XL, and Huawei MediaPad.
This is a known issue with the graphics driver on specific devices. We have reported this issue to hardware manufacturers and software vendors and are working to fix it. As a workaround, try rotating your device or refreshing the page to resolve temporary rendering issues.

So... I guess it's up to HTC to resolve this, hopefully in their next update.

Yet another reason my next phone will be a Nexus
Same here. They have implemented many good features and I love Crome user experience, but the blank pages are so anoying.
I have had it so bad that even a new tab does not resovle the issue and I am forced to use stock browse. I got all stock.
happens on my nexus 7 as well it's not just confined to the one X.
Chrome-dome
Yeah I get this issue too... It's a bugger!
Hopefully it'll get resolved one day as I use Chrome as my main browser, I like the stock browser as it's pretty nippy but can't seem to swing moving over to FF.
To fix this, you can also: Press home button, press (or hold recent apps button, bring up the recent apps screen, swipe away chrome to close it, reopen Chrome and all your pages will reload and work again.
Happens on the TF101 Asus Transformer too. Used to be all the time 1 month ago, now its only occasionally on both devices.
I can just open up a 2nd tab and move along. I don't have the issue every time but when I do get the blank tab I just open up another tab and then I can go.
Hi,
I got my One X last week and have been playing with it this week and one thing that annoys me is that when your on the internet and then open another tab and then go back to the first one it refshes and is very annoying when filling in a form or something.
Also it keeps coming up with Authorise HTC Sense - to authorisr faceboon and when I click it, it says turn on background sync but doesnt do anything as far as I know everything is logged in and ready but not sure.
Hope one if you guys can help
Thanks
Stock sense browser is rubbish, use third party browser like 'Dolphin Browser'
