So I am trying to root my G2, and following cyanogen's wiki with using adb, i am having an issue with permission. I am running OS X 10.6.5, using terminal I open adb, and can find my device but when i go to push anything it doesnt allow me to saying "Permission denied".
I also tried to on my Windows 7 Laptop and i am having issues when not being able to detect my phone, I read something about USB Drivers but I can't find the download.
Any help/suggestions would be great.
On your Mac, try:
Adb remount
Then push.

For the USB drivers for Win 7 (and other Windows versions), download the HTC Sync software from the support section of HTC's website. The drivers are included in there. I am putting together a guide on adb, it's over on the dev forum on the DZ side.

Hey guys, sorry for this noob question, but I just couldn't find any recent answers . So I was wondering, are there any recent methods (guides) to installing the ADB drivers and everything? The reason I ask is because I was looking at the custom splash screens and they were saying to "adb push spalsh1 ..." or something. I tried it and it said that the command adb couldn't be found or something like that. And I thought that maybe that only worked for the older adb drivers since the 2.3 SDK is out. Sorry for sounding so confused, its because I am. Lol. Thanks in advance.
HTC sync acts as the drivers for our phones. Just make sure its installed on ur pc along with the Android sdk and that usb debug is checked in ur phone settings.

Thanks! I just had to press HTC Sync on the phone so that I could do the adb commands!

This has been quoted from the AAHK thread. I'm just copying it and in future, you could do this your self since absolutely EVERYTHING on xda has been explained about a million times before.
Q: Do I need to plug in the phone?
A: Kickban. If you know how to enable usb debugging without a USB connection, then I'll change this policy. In the meantime, asking such a question just makes me think you have not read anything and/or have dedicated yourself to being an idiot

i've tried that too... followed each n every step perfectly but it didnt work, i wasn't able to connect it to pc..... any other options???
What operating system on pc? You may need to unistall current drivers then reinstall the right one when connected, make sure debugging is turned on on the phone. You can also get drivers by installing pdanet, are you manually installing the drivers or letting windows do it? If you have windows can you dual boot a linux distro, no drivers needed then
Not to be rude but if you followed the guides to a t then all should be well

Chances are windows picks the wrong drivers no matter what you have downloaded. Not a pc right now so a walk through may not be accurate. But first download drivers from cyanogen wiki, xda wiki, or strawetals pdf guide. Just google search those and you'll find them. Know where they are downloaded to.
Now click start (windows circle) rightclick on computer, go to properties. Choose device manager and plug in phone while it is powered on, se what pops up as drivers. Right click on the driver and choose update, manual, browse to where you installed the drivers. Do the same with phone in bootloader mode.
Also make sure to have phone in debugging mode
There is also a windows program called usbdeview (or something like that) that will show you all drivers installed, here you can uninstall the wrong ones

y do u need htc sync again ????
if ur expecting tht u connect ur phone to d htc sync nd it will gift u with official ICS ,, then ur wrong !! there aint no official update !
>if u have htc sync installed + Android SDK .... go to cmd (run as admin) ,, make platform-tools as ur directory (inside SDK with cmd) & simply type * adb devices *
It will most probably show u ur phones serial number !!
after that follow cyanogen.wiki root method & install ICS Rom !!
Also , if ur already on a different custom ROM , HTC Sync willl NOT recognize ur device !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Guys
Ive installed Cyanogen 10.1 on m HTC One X all went fine no issues with install etc. However since I have installed im unable to get my PC to identify my htc one x for an ADB connection. I have updated all software from SDK Manager its no longer asking for downloads however the device is never found by ADB. I used the all in one toolkit to root and install the rom but this is now coming up with the same error. I have read that some phone need an edited driver once updated to cyanogen 10.1 does anyone have the modified inf file for the one X all i can find is one for the Samsung which doesnt work I already give it a shot .
Any help appriciated as i spend a good few hours trying to work this one out last night.
You have to enable USB debugging and allow ADB in developer options... Both are by default disabled on CyanogenMod

Hi Mate
Thanks for the responce sorry should have said I have already enabled Developer Options within Cyanogen and have enabled usb debugging and the new one required for 4.2 which is ADB over network but ADB still still error no device found. Its seem to be something to do with the driver as I originally used the HTC drivers to flash and now I have a generic rom i.e. not one configured by HTC the PC doesnt appear to correctly identify the device. I have reinstalled the drivers a numbr of times and have also tried using the Google driver but my PC states this is not correct for the device and refuses to install it.
Well... I have the stock HTC drivers and they work for every single rom I have tried yet, weather AOSP or Sense...
Have you tired a different PC ?
