Made a horrible mistake and accidentally put an i9100 tar through Odin on this Epic Touch. Now, no connection through USB, home button not working, menu button not working, no cellular, and wifi not working.
Any way to bring this back to life?

If you can't get into download mode manually a USB jig is probably your last chance....but then you're fine.
i wonder if that was my issue. When i boot the phone up with the yellow Triangle it says Samsung Galaxy S II GT-i9100
does that mean i used the wrong tar??

No, that happens if you use any kernel that isn't the shipped stock kernel. Clear that with a USB jig.
I can fix it.
Shoot me a pm if you have any questions. Long story short is an I9100 sbl disables the SPH-D710 USB controller. I will use JTAG to rewrite the correct sbl to your phone.

Do you know it was an i9100 tar? Cus that splash screen is easily cleared, without a USB jig, and only means you've flashed an unofficial kernel. Are you able to go into Odin mode?

Not if I9100 bootloaders were flashed.

OK so here is the story...
I accidentally flashed the 2.3.5 firmware for the Samsung gs2 i9100 thinking it was for the sph-d710... Obviously that didn't work out very well. Now the phone won't boot. I can get it into download mode but odin will no longer recognize it. I have tried the i9100 drivers, and the sph-d710 drivers. No luck, it will boot into recovery mode also, but unfortunately because the firmware is for the i9100 which has an "ok" button and the sph-d710 doesn't I can't get it to do a hard reset. Short of dropping it in a bucket of water and using insurance is there anything I can do?
Yes I know I am a moron...
Well as for the ok button, have you tried using the home button instead? And have you ever used Odin before?

Boots into recovery mode only, but i cant select anything
ET4G
I did the exact thing as you did. The only difference is that I unplugged the USB connection which caused my phone to brick completely. The moment I realized I was using the wrong firmware I disconnected my ET4G. My phone was useless, I couldn’t boot up in Odin or recovery. What I did I took it to the Sprint store and I told them that I did not know what happened to the phone and they replaced my phone for free.
Honestly, I've flashed i9000 before and I'm sorry to say but youre screwed. Send it in to mobile tech videos for jtag repair. mine wouldn't boot or recognize at all for weeks untilI finally gave up.

There are several threads about sa vs gt and whether there are three versions etc.
Is anyone a model expert?
When my phone boots I get a gt I9100 splash (w yellow triangle - on fc18).
However once booted I go to about phone and it says sph-d710. A mod at Android Central said these are two different phones. What gives?
What are the SGS2 models? Difference?
I believe I9100 is the generic model number for all galaxy S2's but yes both are different phones. I9100 is generally referred as the original international galaxy s2

The gt-i9100 is the GSM international sgs2 the sph-d710 is the sprint epic 4g touch galaxy s2, they are 2 completely different devices in the same family. Your splash screen is like that from flashing a rom and increasing your download count thru Odin

Ok so I have a sph-d710 and the splash screen saying gt i9100 is just an image baked into the rom I flashed.
(And of course the yellow triangle is the increase my odin count. ): )
Good to know I might have flashed a wrong rom in the future for 9100.
The splash screen trips with the Odin count for some reason Idk what causes it I haven't gotten it yet but if you have a USB jig it will get rid of the gt i9100 splash, yellow triangle and reset the Odin count to 0

It only trips when.flashing thru Odin? Cuz i flashed a kernel in recovery and it hasn't shown up, I actually was kind of curious why my counter or the.triangle hasn't popped on me yet cuz I'm not real careful about preventing it, cuz i made a jig plus most damage to the device I can repair myself so I dont have insurance or TEP on it

That is correct, yellow triangle and ODIN Flash Count only increase when ODIN flashing a kernel not signed by samsung.
Auto Root, Mobile ODIN, and CWM do not trigger the yellow triangle nor do the increase the flash count.

Yes, It was my nephew's s3. He was blindly flashed it, now He asked me to help him, and I am asking any one in here know how to get it power up and into download mode.
I think that flashing the wrong radio version could fry the whole thing dead permanently.
However, if you can get ADB to recognize the device you may be able to get it working. See if you can get adb to recognize the device at all, if you can there may be hope.

Sorry many that have flashed international have been hard bricked if they can't return on. Mskip has a toolkit but if it won't turn on then it's hard to flash though.

Does any screen come up? If it's hard bricked, just bring it to the store, and show them. They'll probably try a new battery, and if they can't boot it up, then they may replace it.
Worst case, they say they won't replace it cause you messed with it, and you're back where you started.

Cause the USB dongle will put you straight to download mode. From there you can flash the proper ROM.
Anyway, if you can't get in to download mode, can't boot up to anything, and especially if ADB can't find your phone, then you might have just gotten yourself a very expensive paperweight.

I did the same thing, quit wasting time, you need a Jtag service period, if you can't get into download mode, Odin and Adb IS NOT going to work. It will not see the device. Go into device manager, if you see this QHSUSB DLOAD, you are seriously bricked, only Jtag can help it. The usbjig will NOT work with this issue, I have tried.

Hi,
I just bought a Pebble Blue S3 from craigslist without checking it out properly. (I know, shame on me). The phone is in physically mint condition, the water damage tab is not red and there are no signs of dropping.
The phone's screen does NOT turn on. When I hold the power button to have it load up normally, I can hear the T-mobile jingle and then a constant blue indicator would stay on the top left corner.
I have tried flashing it back to stock through download mode (Power, volume down, and home --> volume up mode) and it seems to make no difference to the screen's issue.
Flashing it back to stock might have made it worse because I can't even access the phone's internal memory through USB anymore.
Any help towards fixing my screen would be great!
Thanks.
So out of curiosity how much did you pay for a phone that you did not check to see if it turned on?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I paid $250 for it, came with original box and accessories. I thought it was too good to be true, and it seems that way. At worse I can probably break even and sell it as-is.

What does windows report it as in device manager?
If you can get to download mode it may not be hard bricked.
You could flash twrp recovery with idin, then boot recovery and try flashing something from thrre.
Also twrp has a builtin file manager so you can try to see if you can find sny problems that way. (Look for logfiles)

Here is the thread for TWRP. But you get to download mode by starting with the device completely powered off, then pressing the volume down, home and power button at the same time until it powers on. I dont understand what you meant by "I was able to access download mode by clicking around in the dark"
Button mashing I guess?
And just fyi, to boot recovery from power off
Hold volume up, home and power. When you see blue text flash on top of the screen release.
Also, flashing recovery in Odin will trip the flash counter. Prob doesn't matter considering the situation, but just so you know.

If you can get the phone in download mode, odin back to stock. Then boot into recovery using power +home + vol up and do a factory reset. This step is important. I borked my phone with a bad jb install and using odin on its own doesnt completely reset the phone. Using the factory reset fixed this in my situation

I've had Samsung service my SGS1 that I bought off Kijiji while it was still within its one-year warranty. It doesn't just apply to the original owner, just call them and tell them it was a gift, they'll ask for the phone's IMEI, and then they'll be able to tell if it is still within its warranty period.

I accidentally flashed a siyah kernel (v 4.0.1) intended for the Internation Galaxy SII (i9100) onto my T-Mobile Galaxy SII (SGH-T989). For some reason i overlooked "FOR i9100" and now that i've flashed it there is no sign of life.
It was rooted with the AOKP Milestone Build 6 ROM flashed and working perfectly until i flashed the kernel
No vibration when holding the Power Button, Power&Vol+&Vol-, connecting a USB Jig, a USB wall charger, nor a regular USB. It isn't recognized in ODIN nor Kies when I try these different combinations of buttons and connections.
I have it connected to the USB wall charger and letting it sit for a while, still just a black screen.
