I have an Epic 4G Touch, hence this question being in the Epic 4G Touch forum.
When I press the power button to turn on the display, it takes the phone anywhere between 1-3 seconds for the screen to turn on. The same thing happens when I'm on a phone call and the screen is off because of the proximity sensor. When I move the phone away from my head (say to use the dial pad), it again takes the screen 1-3 seconds before it turns on.
This seems like it's a bit longer than what it should be. What can I do to improve the situation?
I don't use any task killer apps (because they're bad for your OS), and I don't really have much running in the background. I use Minimalistic Text widgets and Llama, but I think that's all I've downloaded that runs in the background.

do a search on here its been discussed a few times already
it's because of the SD Card. It's a known issue. Some people don't mind, some people do. I'm the latter, it's annoyingly laggy.

Tried searching. I saw the topic for some other phones, but I figured this might be phone specific. If you're aware of a relevant thread maybe you could point me to it?

So you're saying without the SD card that doesn't happen? Got any sources or further reading? Sounds like a huge bummer if this is the case...

Ok here is a link where they discuss the sdcard issue
Here is one where they actually did a lil study on it
Here is a google search link with some from different forums.
Its out there my friend I have been reading up on this phone since I got it and there is not a question you can think of that someone has not already asked. You got to look much deeper than page 1 of any of the forums just to see whats going on.... lol Hope that helps man

Try GoSms with GoLocker I put both of them on my phone after I formatted my sdcard and moved my lockscreen background pic to my internal sd and it cut down on the lag

I use a pattern lock screen. Does GoLocker work with that?
Also, I read through those other threads you mentioned and people claimed that a class 10 micro SD card helped a lot with the lag, so I ordered a PNY class 10 off of Amazon.
I'll post results here when I get it.

My EVO is down, my replacement is in transit. I was wondering how to determine which screen panel the new one has when I get it. I read that the new panels look washed out and have a line of dead pixels. Which panel is the new and which is the old so I can research the differences between the two.

You've got to ADB in, download the evoinfo.txt file with this command:
adb shell dmesg > evoinfo.txt
It'll list the screen type in there somewhere.

lol i just answered that too
When looking at the lock screen my phone doesn't display the date. Its cut off. All I see is Mon. May and the very top of the actual date. Anyone else have this problem? Wasn't like this any other time.

it does sort the apps menu... hit menu, edit , sort , save... and the lockscreen thing is easily fixed by swapping fonts

well yes they are... lock screens can make or break a phone. even windows 8 will have a customizable lock screen. Widget locker comes the closet to the best but samesung is awsome lock but needs widgets....

since I can't ask in the ROM-Thread (fewer than 10 posts), I'll open this one.
1. Is there a way to disable vibrating when using the four soft buttons?
2. Can I change the "whole-screen-recent-apps-list" to the AOSP one? In the AOSP list I can select other apps to close without scrolling (it just has to be on the screen).
3. I'm using Tasker to enable airplane mode when connecting to a power cord and disabling airplane mode when the cord is plugged out. This worked 100% on stock 2.3. But with the Viper ROM it just works about every third time. Does anyone have a clue how this comes?

But i think this is best asked in the ROM thread. As i saw you were using ViperDHD rom go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1960734&highlight=viper
As your problems are not general DHD problems but might be ROM problems.
And btw "searching everywhere else" for some just means asking a friend. But it can also be someone has devoted 72 hours of googling and sifting trough XDA, we just dont know.
But i do hope you can get some answers, I would've searched for you but at the moment im working on something myself. (Figuring out howto chage the status bar to my liking. )

I really like reading ebooks on my phone but when I'm scrolling down it keeps going back or forward a page. it drives me nuts. I already have motion turned off and it doesn't seem to be the app (ezpdf)..
Any way to disable this annoying "feature"?

So yeah, basically I'm having problems with my phone slowing down and lagging quite badly when I change CPU frequencies and I want to do a full restore as if the phone was fresh from the factory so I can start again. How do I do this?

It IS the same method to reset that device though.
With the device off, power and volume down should get you to the menu you're looking for. From there find the factory defaults menu. I can't for the life of me remember what stock recovery looks like.
