Beejive is on the android
NewsRack is an RSS reader, Android has an RSS reader built into its system by default, and there are many others available out there.
iBooks is an eBook reader, we have alot of eBook readers out there, the EVO comes with Kindle.
Live Cams We have an app in the market called Live Cams Free, which allows you to view broadcasted cameras around the world.
Netflix is not available on all android devices yet, EVO owners are still crossing our fingers for the app soon.
I guarantee you, any apps available for the iphone are also available for android. it may not be the exact same app, but it will do the same thing.
Did you know that the "One Note" app has the shopping list and tasks list online?
Cool
This is definitely a nice and entertaining commercial. Microsoft should come up with more of these.
I didn't even think of using OneNote this way. Neat idea.
Man I loved this comercial, really nice way to use the OneNote Sync
What all does a person need to utilize this feature? Do you need to buy the overwhelmingly expensive desktop software? What is it...MS Exchange or something like that?

If you already have a windows phone, your OneNote files sync to Skydrive so you can view and edit them online via http://office.live.com. If you have Office 2010 desktop software, OneNote also syncs there.
I use it extensively to manage my college life.
Not bad. But I consider that with my web-based notebooks I can sync to all of my phones, even iOS. I use Evernote and it does the same thing as well as providing access on my other phones.

Onenote on the desktop comes with certain packages of Office 2010 (or 2007) but not with the Mac version.
BUt you don't have to download it.. just use the Office Web Apps from your Windows Live account.
Amazing stuff from Microsoft!

Man, I was hoping it was going to be cool... without the usual vender tie downs and non-cross platform mess.
Guess evernote will still be the goto recommend for folks interested in this kinda tech with no restrictions and expensive software tie ins.

What do you mean? If you have a hotmail/live account, you have Office Web apps.. you don't need to download/buy anything at all. It's like google documents but infinitely more useful and functional.
I don't see how evernote is better in anyway.. (except that it is available on android ..not sure onenote is yet..)
(as you can tell, I'm a huge fan of onenote.. the main reason I will be sticking to WP for a while)

Enjoy, mate. I use Evernote, which gives me access on all of my phones, not just my WP7. And Evernote updates faster.
Evernote syncs, but the app sucks compared to onenote.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
While Evernote isn't the best web-based notebook, it's at least easier to figure out than One Note. It took me a bit to know how to make a new note and all of the things relating to it. And One Note isn't as intuitive as the web-based variety. Catch Notes is the best web-based notebook. But there isn't a WP7 version yet, so I went with Evernote until Catch Note makes a WP7 version.
To be honest, I don't like it how OneNote HAS to sync to the cloud (unless I'm doing something wrong). Sometimes I seriously have no reception - what then? For this reason, I actually use Word for note-taking.
Evernote is better.foe organizing.notes anyways. OneNote had this forever in the iOS version..
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
I will give you the ONE very good reason why I use OneNote and not Evernote.
Because OneNote is built in- it's made by the same people who make the OS, meaning I'm guaranteed compatibility whatever Windows device I have, and there is much more chance of the online services being reliable going forward.
I HATE third party software on mobile devices. It is the absolute bain of my life, it's very rarely done well and 90% of it is utter crap. This is why I chose Windows Phone.
I can see why you might want something that syncs to 5 different OS's, but in reality 99% of the population are very unlikely to need, care about, or have, three mobile devices, so for them OneNote is an excellent option (and the desktop software is immensely powerful, too)
That's fine many people prefer that convenience. However I'd you need superior note taking and organization tagging etc Evernote is far ahead of one note. One note still isn't really optimized for mobile yet, but it will get there.

You don't have to sync to the cloud. You can as well store your notes on the device. Just open the office app and swipe to the right. You can choose Skydrive, Phone, Sharepoint..

Hello everyone,
I already know the answer to this but do you think there is a way to hack the google books apk to force it to read ePub files? I am currently using adilko as my ereader and its okay but I just love the page turning animation and smoothness of google books. Adilkos animations don't come close to google books.
Anyone know if this can be done?
Does anyone know of any other readers that have a great page turning animation?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda app-developers app
I've looked into it and I'm pretty sure there's no way of importing an epub into the Books app. I'm no expert so I don't know how much XDA hacking sweetness would have to go into making it happen if it's even possible in the first place.
I agree though. The animations and stability of Google Books is sweet. Importing and using books from the cloud would be awesome.
the Nook app is the best ive found. not as smooth as google books is, but the the customization, look, and sideloading make it the one i use the most.
I agree with ianflo. Nook seems to be (one of) the best for sideloaded epub viewing.
Personally I have been using Aldiko for my book reading needs. Works quite well if I do say so myself.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Been using Mantano reader myself, page turning, while not as good as google books, as pretty close to it. Side loading is easy, just browse to whereever you stored the epubs on your device and import.
Its an almost perfect reader, just needs a TOC button.
Two things. First, I need to make sure my favorite epub reader is mentioned, fbreader.
Second, does google books support side-loading any format? If so, calibre may be able to transform epubs to that format. It's a Windows tool for managing ebook libraries.
Calibre is a multiplatform program, runs quite well on Linux btw. http://calibre-ebook.com/download
As for sideloading on google books, nope, the files are stored somewhere, where haven't a clue, in what format, ditto.
So I tried nook' its OK its not all that great. I downloaded one of their free books how do you side load epub files for the nook?
Mantanos free version does not include the page turn effect and the pay is like 6 bucks. A bit pricey if you ask me. I currently use aldiko and fbreader. They are both great but the page turn animation is lacking big time.
There has to be a way to side load these files through Google books no? Even if you convert the file using caliber?
Edit: figured out how to sideload to the nook app.

I just recently switched from aldiko to moon+ reader. I don't use the page turn animation so I'm not sure how smooth it is, but the app as a whole is just fantastic. So much control over every part of the app it's just great.
It also has a nice sync feature using dropbox. I can put my N7 down and when I go out and open the same book on my phone it syncs the page to where I last left off.
I bought the pro version after about 10 minutes of use on the free one.
I have been preaching for a way to load epubs into google books for a long time now. All the other book reader apps have some kind of compromise or niggle that annoys me. I don't understand why google doesn't just open it up to sideloading.

Got my Nexus7 last week and while researching Kindle and Nook book rental options...I found out Google / Google Books is making an effort... See below
“In 2004, The New York Public Library was one of several libraries taking part in this ground-breaking digital venture with Google; others included the libraries at Michigan, Stanford, Harvard, and Oxford Universities. Since 2004, other libraries and institutions have signed partnership agreements including Princeton University, Cornell University, the University of California system, and the Committee for Institutional Cooperation (CIC). They even have a nice list of Google's Library Partners, from around the world too.
Been using Moon+ Reader for a couple months now, tons of features, page turn is like pulling the corner of a page and flipping it as opposed to Googles dragging the middle of the page, page turn works nice, though not quite as pretty as googles, although it is more dynamic in that it is not the same every time you turn a page. If you hold as you slide finger and move finger down as pulling you will see page react accordingly, or just tap side and flip animation. You can import and sort books according to directories which is awesome, I have a different directory for every author and sort works very well. Like the above reader said I used it for a few minutes and purchased the Pro immediately, it just works well.
Also like the person above mentioned the cloud sync is amazing. I have an S3, Galaxy Nexus, and N7, use each of them at different times, and whatever I'm reading is left off in the same spot on the next device I use.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flyersoft.moonreader&feature=related_apps
Another app worth mentioning for ePub & PDF books is the Kobo app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kobobooks.android&hl=en
I have tried nearly every reader out there and the best by far for me was cool reader. The front end is not as nice as some others but the ability to configure is great.

You can't but you should be able to read them if you download the Nook app for Android.
Gotta mention Mantano Premium reader here. The Page turn animation is pretty much the same as the iOS animation, and just as smooth. Feels as smooth as it can possibly be. I've tried dozens of book reader apps and all have been disappointing except for Mantano. It's a little pricey but I consider it a core must have for a tablet so it's definitely worth it. Packed full of other features too.

As far as I know the only way to get photos on your idevice is through iTunes.. you probably won't be able to directly send photos to your ipad from your S2

There is method I use.
I have the same devices you have the sgs2 and the ipad. I have dropbox installed on both devices and I have "Camera Upload" turned on. So whenever I take a picture with my s2 or ipad, the picture automatically uploads into dropbox. and from there, I have pictures on both devices to which I can download. Once you load the dropbox app on the ipad to watch the pictures, you can then select to download the pictures into the ipad itself. it is quite convenient. This is good only if you have enough storage in dropbox to save all those pictures and videos.
Also, you can do this with G+ (google plus) app as they have the instant upload feature also but I believe they give you more storage space.
Edit: A quick google shows that the only app that you can use to transfer files between ios and android is "Bump" app.
i will check into that I have heard that some of the apps will downgrade the pics so the 8mp pics will get reduced in size do you have that issue with drop box?

What a pain in the ^#^%$ a$$. I do really hate apple. So here is what I did i Dumped all the Photos and Videos off of my phone to my PC. about 22 GB's worth of data. Then I had to install iTunes on my PC. Then once I had it configured I pointed it to the folder I wanted to sync it to. It took about 3 hours to complete. Then I get a message that the the video files would not copy since the format if my videos is not compatible (the format used my SG2) so I had to download Any video converter to rip the videos to a apple friendly format since the [email protected] is so limited. They have some amazing marketing I cannot for the life of me understand the popularity of such a limiting product. Thank you all for your suggestions, I did look at bump but it will only allow you to a few pics at a time and will not allow for full resolution photos to be transmitted it will scale them down.

I've haven't tried to transfer movies on an idevice recently.. You can print to HP and Epson printers straight from the Note 10.1 via WiFi. Youj will need to use apps which support the "print" function and those are few and far between, but the stock browser does.
Printhand (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dynamixsoftware.printhand.premium) allows printing via any app which has a share function. I am quite fond of Printhand and have used it since my Moto Xoom days.

That's the big challenge with Android for productivity, lack of consistency. Unless you're using a printer you know works along with an app that supports it you basically spin the wheel and take your chances. I've been at client locations and tried to print something that worked on previous work and home printers and nada. And the print function works differently across different apps that do support it. It is what it is.
This is being implemented in 4.4 but it's going to take a while before all the various printer manufacturers update (or introduce) apps to support it.
Printing framework
Android apps can now print any type of content over Wi-Fi or cloud-hosted services such as Google Cloud Print. In print-enabled apps, users can discover available printers, change paper sizes, choose specific pages to print, and print almost any kind of document, image, or file.
Android 4.4 introduces native platform support for printing, along with APIs for managing printing and adding new types of printer support. The platform provides a print manager that mediates between apps requesting printing and installed print services that handle print requests. The print manager provides shared services and a system UI for printing, giving users consistent control over printing from any app. The print manager also ensures the security of content as it's passed across processes, from an app to a print service.
You can add printing support to your apps or develop print services to support specific types of printers.
Printer manufacturers can use new APIs to develop their own print services — pluggable components that add vendor-specific logic and services for communicating with specific types of printers. They can build print services and distribute them through Google Play, making it easy for users to find and install them on their devices. Just as with other apps, you can update print services over-the-air at any time.
Thanks guys, I gave printbot a shot.
