Htc amaze camera app - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Has anyone installed the amaze camera app on there tmo gs2. I tried but it said on recovery that it was only for pyramid device.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App

Why would want to install that on your sgs2? The camera and camera app on our phones is awesome! You just need to know how to tweak the settings for each picture you take.
If you really want that app try this: return your sgs2 and get an amaze instead.

I Respectfully disagree . Amaze camera is better than my nikon camera . And I NEVER touched settings . Left it in auto and it was perfect picture every time . SGS2 camera has lot of "noise" and 8MP is not wide it's like 4:3 . You want 16:9 shot you have to change to 6MP. . Very disappointed with camera , but I don't know if its software or hardware that makes it so bad but in my opinion it is bad . But PHONE it's F*ing billion times better than amaze . Amaze was getting hot in my hand when using and battery was going FAST . I agree we need that amaze app camera on SGS2 . Matteo don't say "return" when you are near SGS2 . It's gonna hear you !!!

If I might ask for your advice - what would the best settings be for good pictures? It seems to me that when I leave the camera in the settings it defaults to (what it came from the store set at), my pictures are not as sharp as I think they should be? I know its a matter of opinion, but to me, it's almost like its not focusing "all the way"? I hope this makes sense? Anyway, any suggestions on settings for general pictures?? Thank you all in advance!

Agreed. Amaze camera can take multiple clearer photos faster, BUT Tmo Gs2 cold boots Camera faster. So if you're in a hurry to get a photo of some freak on the bus the GS2 will get the job done faster
(hilarious sig by the way, people say im borderline crazy sorta kinda)

The miui camera is pretty damn good. It's not the amaze camera, but it's better than our stock. It's in this section.

+ 1 for this. I posted a link already for the miui amaze camera apk which already works on our phone. Tested last night in low light vs the stock app and it confirms how crappy the stock app really is.

I gave it a try, and while it does seem to take clearer pics, the camcorder doesn't work. I'd like to have both, even if one is inferior. (Did I just say that??)

I agree. I have both phones and I find that the Amaze camera is really damn good. I expected more from my SG2 camera.

It will take the pic faster but pic would be worthless. blurry crappy taken picture and honestly its not that much speed difference in cold boot. the amaze takes way better pictures with out going into setting and adjusting. I have both gs2 and amaze. Camera goes to the amaze.

Dk28 ???

after trying EB13 and finding all the bugs that it has i went with Dk28 which is working GREAT wayyyy better than EB13, video cam works on low light, GPS is accurate i just find everything to work good. oh and my battery life has been extended i went 13 hrs without charging my phone... why is it important to have an official OS?
English is not my first language but i try.
I'm not so sure why so many ppl are *****in about eb13 sucking.its perfect for me.I get gps lock before the actual map loads (about half a second).not so sure about battery life because I wasn't away from home that long to check but it seems impressive to me.just as god a before if not better.and I don't have a problem with my camera. I must have gotten lucky. I used the samsung updater tool method.

Like I said before, why would Google bother releasing 4.0.3 for the Galaxy Nexus ota if the bugfixes are almost nil in it for the Galaxy Nexus?

I'm in no way a photographer or anything like that. But I definitely have to agree with you on this. I'm on CM9 and the pics doesn't seem to be as crisp as the pics on the GB roms.
You are correct, though there is someone out there bound to argue the oppisite. I myself have been through many differnt ICS (of all builds) and GB ROMs...
and can attest that this is the very reason that I am currently back on GB, running flawlessly, the incompatable apps, the camera not functioning as crisp, and notifications bugs finally did me in. My battery life is so much better with [EL29 base] anyways.

Are you guys talking about AOSP ICS? Never ran ICS on this phone yet but I noticed it with the galaxy s. I was never thought much of it because I saw it as a port from the nexus side. So software is not optimized for the hardware. Plus our ICS AOSP ports came from a galaxy nexus that has only 5 megapixel. Correct me if I'm wrong. It's just how I saw it.

[Bounty] TouchWiz camera apk on CM10/AOSP/AOKP

I've seen posts like this for various projects of other devices so I figured I would give it a shot here.
If someone can get the Touchwiz camera apk (with the necessary touchwiz framework files) working on CM10 or AOSP, I will give them $20. The camera apk is literally the one thing preventing me from switching to CM10 or other AOSP/AOKP roms.
Everyone else is free to pitch in as well. Together, perhaps we can raise a worthwile & tempting bounty to encourage a skilled developer to get this working. If no one can do it, then we're not losing any money. If someone can pull it off, then it will be worth every penny. The Galaxy S II camera was ported to AOSP on the Fascinate so I believe this could be possible with the GS3.
Current bounty: $20.00
How about multi-view on CM 10/AOKP?

Put me down for another 20 US dollars, the stock Samsung camera is why I always go back to a TW ROM, but I would love to use AOKP.
Its probably possible to do but very very difficult as it needs tw framework. As anything is possible on android put me down for $20 as well. Stock cm/aokp camera is good and could never steer me away from cm/aokp roms but sammy cam would be an awesome addition!

If not for the Touchwiz Camera and Gallery I would have switched to AOSP/AOPK/CM10 a long time ago too
The Touchwiz camera and Gallery are so much nicer, and have a lot more features and options and look
so much more professional the differences are like day and night!
One of the main selling points of our S3 phone is the excellent camera and gallery app!!!
Everytime I try AOSP/AOKP/CM10 the camera and gallery looks as if they are a home made BETA or a downgrade!!!
Good luck in your endeavor!!!
(I have been told it cannot be done but I don't believe it. )

there is a video from a past android bbq where steve kondik (cyanogen) makes a presentation about cyanogenmod. You can find it somewhere on the internet. I advise you watch that to learn why the TW camera isn't functional with aosp.
If you want to learn to code, then you can check out the project called cornerstone, which is an open source multiview that was created for ics

Good News - STOCK CAMERA PORT [KK] - [CM-AOSP...]

Hello OG PRO community!
Good news.
I've contacted @Jishnu Surâ„¢ to know if his stock camera ports could be finished by correcting the things that does not work.
He answered me he has already done so, and gave me this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...g-camera-port-stock-aosp-cm-catalysm-t2598999
I had previously installed @ballshanglow 13MP Camera on Pace Plus 4.4.3 (by disabling the stock 8MP one) and just installed Jishnu's one as described in his N5 thread.
At first glance, everything seems to be working alright. However, i think we can check out and report him if anything need to be fixed/improved/implemented.
Enjoy!!!

Lol okay. Its only been widely discussed around here on any phone I've ever had. The clarity and crispness just isn't there on AOSP cameras. The options and photo processing of say Samsung or Sony, etc just plain aren't as good. If glancing at a picture to see how good it is is all the judgment that's being used here then I'd agree
