[Q] Remove Triangle Breaks 4G/Wi-Fi - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Maybe i did something wrong but i followed all the instructions and videos for removing the triangle and when I flash bubby's stock kernal it breaks 4g & wi-fi. I tried redownloading the files thinking they were corrupt. I can sucessfully reach root just trying to remove the triangle. I have since gone back to stock and rooted about twice still the same result
Any ideas??
When 4G or Wi-Fi is turned on it will stay on obtaining IP address and eventually lock up to a black screen have to pull out battery

Can't commit on breaking 4g, no 4g in my area. I was able to remove the triangle but I flashed something else and it came back. I also didn't like that the Odin count was not reset. At $3 shipped, a jigg seemed a better option. I could not buy the resistors cheaper because I had to buy a pack of them.

I had the exact same problem appear after flashing chris41g's stock pulled + CWM kernel. I was coming from the LoSt kernel / stock ROM prior to flashing it.
I was able to just Odin the LoSt kernel and it seems to be working again.
I can't help you at all but I can confirm the same thing happened to me when going from rooted + custom kernel to a stock pulled kernel like you did. (bubby's kernel from the "removing the triangle" thread and chris41g's kernel which I flashed are very similar from what I understand... though I am a noob...)

If you odin this, it will bring everything back. Had the same problem. I just didnt do a factory reset and all my data etc is intact.

[Q] Help with KIES emergency recovery

Hey guys,
I've been working on rooting the new Captivate Glide, and unfortunately my kernel flash with ODIN failed (inexplicably). Now the device is complaining I need to perform an emergency recovery, but of course the device isn't listed in the KIES panel.
Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, but I searched and didn't find anything.
Can anyone explain how KIES works? What is a recovery code? Do I need to get one from Samsung? Is there any other way to force it to perform the recovery on my semi-bricked phone?
Wrong forum ...
There isn't a forum for him yet, so this is the best he could do.
Try going to download mode and flashing again! Try again, until it works, redownload the kernel.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda premium
Actually, strangely enough ... I entered 3e recovery (out of desperation) and rebooted, and it cleared the flag, allowing it to boot up normally.
I checked the kernel timestamp (cat /proc/version) and it appears to still be the stock kernel, so the NAND update completely failed.
I still would like to figure out how to force a KIES recovery, but at least for the moment I'm back up and running (till I take my next shot ).
Kies is garbage, don't worry about it.
It's just like Odin only there are a retarded amount of checks to make sure it's a supported phone...which usually fail if you're on anything other than stock or your imei has changed to a generic one, or any other reason it wants to make up to fall.
To root you should be able to flash the fugu kernel, which will cause a bootloop, then flash that stock kernel again, then once that boots you should have root.

Frustrating. The n900 flashing tool was so excellent (and cross-platform). Wonder why Samsung would release such a piece of junk.
Anyway, I'm back in business now and still working on it.
I'd love to try one of the other kernels, but since I don't have any recovery path (stock kernel / image / firmware), I'm really nervous now.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic Sprint - Help Unrooting

Okay so I just bought this phone from craigslist. It was rooted when I got it. I factory reset the data but then restarted the phone and got stuck in a boot loop. So, I decided to unroot it and put it back to it's original state. I downloaded the original stock kernal - acs-eb30-stock-kernal-pulled.tar - and I loaded it on via Odin. I then followed the command prompt steps to fully unroot the phone and it was successful. I'm not stuck in a boot loop anymore however I can't access the main home page, the settings, get a wifi connection, anything really. It just keeps asking me to put in my google account settings but I can't connect to wifi. I can't get to the home screen page. It's almost like maybe that was the wrong kernal? I was looking for the stock kernal and people were saying it's EG30 not EB30. Any suggestions?
That's probably for another Samsung phone. There was never a EB30 for this phone. It shipped with EG30.
I suggest you use the EK02 ODIN One-Click in my signature. Use the full version that resets your user data.

Steps please (to remove ROOT and flash with Stock ROM)
Hi,
I have a similar issue. I rooted my phone (Sprint Samsung Galaxy 2 (also called Epic Touch) after I got it in early 2011.
Now I want to remove the root to sell it so it seems I need to "flash a stock ROM". I am not exactly sure how to do that. Can anyone give me steps?
Where do I get ODIN?
Where do I get the stock ROM for this phone?
How do I flash with that Stock ROM using Odin?
Thanks so much in advance. :good:

[Q] BEST method for restoring FULL FACTORY STOCK?

I attempted to restore my fiance's S3 to full factory stock about a month ago now, after I received a prompt for the ~82MB OTA update, and she didn't... She was tired of me taking her phone and keeping it out of her hot little hands whilst I made nandroids and flashed the latest updates to BlazerROM, and she didn't have a problem with stock ROM, so I figured I'd put it back for her.
Well, I did, and I KNOW I left CWRecovery in, and not sure if I left root or not, but she STILL has not received the OTA update which still bugs me... So I need to know what is the BEST method for FULL STOCK RECOVERY? I don't want her missing out when the Jelly Bean official drops, and I may flash mine back when it hits just to test it out...
I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1935973
Which directed me to QBKing's site, but also warned that the video was now somewhat dated...
Am I assume that by saving her text messages and contacts, and flashing the ODIN .tar listed on this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919919 and just letting her re-install her apps, is an effective way to return to FULL and UNMODIFIED stock? Should I run Triangle-Away before proceeding? Will this return the device status to Unmodified (or whatever it says) as opposed to "Custom" in the Status page, as it currently shows for her, in case of warranty needs?
Sorry to be "That Guy", but some of the other topics where a bit vague and lacked details, so I figure if we can get something Semi-Detailed and answering most of the big/general questions, perhaps this could serve as a Go-To thread for others who wish to do this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099
Thread youve mentioned above also works fine. If using odin method, run triangle away beforehand. Neither method will wipe data. Depending on the rom you're coming from, it may not be necessary. If you flash without wiping and the rom fails to boot(hangs on glowing samsung logo), go back to recovery and factory reset. Itll boot right up

JUST TO CLARIFY!
On your thread you updated just this morning with the flash-counter reset included, just run in CWR, and all is good, if not, then factory reset, and all is good? Or factory reset, reflash, all is good?
EDIT: FLashed
In download mode;
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SPH-L710
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (not sure what that one is haven't done more than root with oden and flash)
System status troubles me... ODEN flash, or let it full reboot? I went into download to check before first initial boot after flash. will allow full boot and see what happens...
EDIT 2: Well, android system status shows Normal... Girl woke up and took her phone back, so will check oden later.
Yup the one updated today is just that. Flash and reboot. Youll be 100% stock
The system status in odin will probably fix itself after booting. If not a factory reset should do it

[Q] Random Reboots

I rooted and ran a couple diff custom ROMs: cm10.1.3 and infamous alpha, both with oc kernels (never set mhz past 2051). Began getting random reboots, alot while running the Alpha ROM, and a couple while running cm10.1.3 which I thought was weird because its a RC. should be stable, right? Anyway, got tired of RRs, so I decided to unroot and got stock, till I had some free time.to tinker with it. Well guess what, getting RRs EVEN IN UNROOTED STOCK. Any ideas?
I'm not exactly sure what steps you have taken to get back to Stock, where you're still having random reboots, but I'll let you know what I've done in the past to get to Stock which resolved the issues:
- Factory reset device from device. Save and/or move your Internal files/data prior as you'll be wiping Internal. I'd remove my extSdCard prior to Factory reset and after moving files to it.
- ODIN Samsung Stock Firmware
http://samsung-updates.com/details/9595/Galaxy_S_4_T-Mobile/SGH-M919/TMB/M919UVUAMDL.html
- After the device boots, you'll probably get stuck on the Samsung splash boot screen. After a few minutes - -
- pull the battery, replace the battery but Don't power the device on
- Place device in Stock Recovery mode by pressing Power and Vol up buttons at the same time.
Release the buttons when you see the blue letters appear in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
- Scroll to Factory reset using the volume buttons.
(During the above process, you'll see the Android on its side with a Red X on him/her.)
- press the power button to lock in Factory reset
Let the Recovery scroll through its script
(during this process the Android will come to life )
- After the script is completed which takes less than a minute or so, scroll to reboot and select it with the power button.
- the device will now boot.
Important: while the device is booting, the screen will stay on the T-Mobilessplash screen for what will seem forever. Don't panic. The screen will show T-Mobile across the screen for about 15 or so minutes. Could be a little more or a little less. The device will then continue and complete the booting cycle.
Some notes:
1) during the above process, I have removed my extSdCard card as I didn't want tottake a chanceiit would be wiped. ODIN doesn't wipe extSdCard card but I don'tbneed it during theiprocess so I remove it in case Murphy decides to pay a visit.
2) during ROM flashes, I've experienced almost every issue youccan imagine. This occurred while using TWRP 2.5.0.2, but only when flashing ROMs with Aroma. For months prior, I had zero issues.
The problems I was experiencing were:
Random reboots, splash screen freezes, bootloops, installation of choices in Aroma which only partially installed, issues which didn't seem to havesan answer, and when you found the solution, that solution wouldn't work when the issue appeared again.
- constantly ODINing back to stock
- sometimes in Recovery, I couldn't get past the TWRP lockscreen, and only wiping Internal SD resolved the issue so I could do a Factory reset. I was doing this so often, that I left all files on my extSdCard so Iewouldn't lose my data when I had to wipe internal. It was faster this way as I didn't have to keep moving stuff back & forth.
After endless hours of troubleshooting and aggravation, I changed Recoveries.
I installed Philz Touch Recovery, and I have had Zero issues since installing it about 3 or so weeks ago, which have included multiple ROM flashes with Aroma.
I didn't want to switch Recoveries as I was very used to TWRP, but I just couldn't deal with the new found issues I was having so I made the switch and haven't looked back. Some people don't have issues with TWRP, but I wasn't one of them
Hopefully you can relate to some of my experiences which I have written above, which may help you to resolve some of the issues you're experiencing.
Yes. Thats the file I used and also the steps. I dont know what the deal is.

If you:
Wiped Internal SD
ODINd Stock Firmware
which flashed successfully
and are still having random rebooting.....
I can only suggest:
Check your device settings, if you haven't done so already to insure you're running:
Stock ROM
Stock modem/radio
And that all settings are stock.
If everything checks out, I can only suggest to:
Download the Samsung Stock Firmware file again
Check the md5 checksum
ODIN Samsung Stock Firmware again
And see how it goes.
So it turns out, if once you flash the stock firmware through odin, you just have to let it "settle in" for a couple days and all the problems go away. Thanks man.

Glad everything worked out for you.
Don't shy away from custom ROMs though, as you'll be missing out on some good stuff
As a note, there can be many thinks which can contribute to issues after the installation of a Custom ROM, Kernels, etc. such as:
Bad downloads, corrupted files, app conflicts, dirty flashes instead of Full wipes, etc., etc.
Another issue can be related to the Recovery you are using.
I had many, many issues regarding flashing ROMs which installed with Aroma.
Prior to ROMs w/Aroma, I had Zero issues.
I suggest using Philz Touch Recovery.
In case you don't have it installed and want to try it, I'll post a link to the download page.
Flash the proper file for your specific carrier.
Install the tar file with ODIN or
Flash the zip file with your Recovery......
Well, I come from sgs2. On that device, I could flash everything through cmw, and just use darkside super wipe and darkside cache wipe. No problem. Every rom from cm to amatuer custom blibbidy blobbidy, no problem. When I rooted my s4, I went straight to twrp because everyone said it was better. I flashed cm10.1.3 rc - rr. Infamous alpha v.7, which was supposed to be stable - rr. I went back to stock, rooted again, and kept stock tw, and only flashed ktoonz kernel, which is supposed to be one of the best for this device. Everything ran great, but guess what - rr. So I gave up. Went back totally stock. Working a lot of hours at work right now. We slow down after thanksgiving, so I'll probably start flashing again around that time. Thanks for thw help though
cheers.

Sprint GS3 wifi not turning on

Hello. When my device was updated to KitKat, the WiFi stopped turning on. It doesn't fail to connect, it just will not turn on at all. I tried an app called "WiFi Fixer", which didn't work, but in the "Known Issues" section it said this was caused by the "Android framework not interacting with the WiFi driver" and said to flash a custom ROM.
I rooted, installed TWRP, and flashed CM 12.1 successfully. The WiFi still wouldn't turn on. I then decided it was probably a hardware issue that coincidentally showed itself at the same time as the update. So then, I installed Cheetah Mobile launcher, and one of their themes, and was resigned to not having WiFi.
I got bored with the CM theme, and installed the Dark Material theme. At this point the phone started acting buggy, not waking from wakelock, force closing, and randomly rebooting. So i then deleted cache and dalvick cache, and re-flashed from the CM 12.1 zip i had saved on my SD. The bugs would not stop, almost making my phone unusable. The only bright side of this was that my WiFi was turning on and working! I thought maybe the hardware problem had fixed itself somehow, but I still wanted to have a usable phone. I kept re-flashing from the existing CM 12.1 zip, the WiFi kept working, but the buggy behavior wouldn't go away.
I figured that maybe the CM 12.1 zip on my SD was corrupted, so I downloaded another copy from CyanogenMod, installed it on my SD, and erased the old copy. Then, I wiped everything and re-flashed with the new zip. The buggy behavior went away, but WiFi stopped working again! I'm thoroughly confused now.
If it's a hardware issue, why does it come and go with ROMs/ themes? I thought it may be a kernel issue, so I flashed Ktoonsez K747 kernel, which is working fine, but I still don't have WiFi. Did the themes I installed earlier change the kernel in some way to make my WiFi work temporarily? Is there a fix for this? Is it a known problem? I researched the forums but the only answers I found for similar problems were from earlier versions (2013) of Android/ CyanogenMod ROMs.
At this point, I'm willing to give anything a try, I've even opened the phone, inspected, un-plugged, and replugged the WiFi antenna. If it was a hardware issue, would I expect to see any damage, like a fried circuit or something? Is there any test to check if it's hardware vs. software? Can I buy a replacement antenna?
I'm pretty broke and can't afford a new phone, which is why I'm trying to resuscitate this one When it works, it's sufficient for my use.
Please help, I really want WiFi back! Thanks in advance for any advice.
Full odin back to stock. Best solution.
Get odin here at the bottom of the page. The firmware is there too. If you create a free account the download goes much faster.
Also, re flashing the same cm12.1 over and over won't help. Have you tried the newest nightly? After odin back to stock, if you want cm, use the latest.
If you don't have a pc, you can try flashfire, but I haven't tried it.

Thanks, I'm downloading it now. Does it matter that this is an older build? I started with L710VPUDOH1, but this download is a previous version, L710VPUDNJ2.
I found this, which has the L710VPUDOH1 build in a zip...
Google > "L710VPUDOH1 opensource samsung" > first result (I'm too new on XDA to post outside links!)
within the zip is Kernel.tar and Platform. tar. which I have done nothing with, as I'm not sure if it's what I need. Do you think I should flash these? or just go with the NJ2 build?
Thank you for your insight, and taking the time to help me!

No. For many reasons. First, its not the rom, its just the update. No one has made a flashable rom zip. Second, official updates won't flash in custom recovery and it would never flash because you're rooted.
So basically its not the full rom, its the official update zip, just a patch.
Gotta flash a .tar. Unless your on the triband model, nj2 should be fine

Flashed back to stock, and updated to OH1 successfully, but still no wifi. It's greyed out and won't turn on
I would think it was a hardware problem, except that it all started when my phone updated to 4.4.2. I've found many others with this problem online, but no fixes. Can I flash back to 4.3? or can I flash a new modem/radio(?) file. I thought I saw one in my searches but can't seem to find it now

No, do not try to flash 4.3. You will hard brick, and your phone will be a paperweight. Same thing if you try flashing any pre Knox modems/radios.
Are you flashing something else with this? It's something on your device if a tar flash in odin didn't fix it. Did you factory reset after odin?

this just happended to me the other night actually, did you find solution? Apparently just taking out the battery and resetting solved it for a lot of people, but not me. I will tell you what did work though! (keeps randomly doing it again but at least i can gfet it to work aghain even if only for a littlw bit)
First check with root explorer if you have this fike "data\misc\wifi\wpa_supplicant.conf "
I guess it has something to do withthis file, and your android not writing to the right spot, but i honestly have no idea so ill continue. what i did (i saw i didnt have the file either) i dialed *#0011# then hit menu, and then hit wifi, and turned off the bottom switch "wifi power save mode". I exited service menu tried wifi a couple times still same thing, so i went back into service menu and reenabled the switch, then i turned off the phone by pulliung out battery. I logged into my custom recovery and checked out the file explorer in twrp, and voila there that mysery file was! So i cleared dalvick and cache, rebooted into rom, (wicked x v8.2) and attempted wifi and it was working again. so take whatever conclusion youd like but im too tired to keep my eyes open at the moment and good luck, pissed me off cuz wifi was all i had no service, of course

I really wish I could get it to work. Also, you said it keeps happening... so the file keeps dissappearing on you? Thanks for the response.
