[Q] htc desire cdma runnymede - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Please excuse my ignorance but is their a runnymede rom available for the desire cdma? It shows up in rom manager but it won't download the rom list. Again. I am sorry if there are already a million threads about this. I have been dealing with what I thought was unbricking my phone from installing or trying to install the runnymede for the gsm. Should have read a little farther first. what a pain in the ass that was.

Anyone? Surely someone knows the answer. But if the answer is yes, how to get it would be nice. I only find it for the gsm so far. :-(

Just be cool. You waited only 20 minutes.

sorry. i've been really anxious to get this since found it on rom manager. So now i just wanna know how. lol. my apologize.

something tells me you can answer this your just being an ass and making me wait. For the effort it took for you to tell me to be cool you could have simply answered my question. I like these forums and would like to become part of this "community" I like to help people though, not toy with them. I'm not a child.

Hi calm down getting angry wouldn't help try this it also work for cmda
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318370

sorry to appear angry, i'm not i just get annoyed by childish games. Rom manager finally let me download it and i downloaded 4.6 it's been trying to boot for a while now. I'm gonna go get something to eat and run a few places and come back and see if it booted yet. Thank you for you help though and again sorry if i appeared to be angry.

Forget rom manager, it only gives u few choices.
Head to desire development forum and get RunnymedeMod007 by michaelm007. Thats what i use as daily rom.

It will not boot, just stays on the htc screen. It said requirments latest radio but I can't find the latest radio for the cdma only for the gsm. I'm going to partition my sd card for app to sd in a min. any advice?

There are currently no Runnymede ROMs that work for the CDMA Desire. I've tried running most ROMs with Sense 3.0 and higher on my CDMA, with and without patches that claim to make the ROMs work for CDMA. Currently, none are tailored to the CDMA version of the phone.

Im sorry, not sure about cdma only desire.. I use GSM.
However i saw a beta patch for cdma for that rom in addons.
Btw u need a ext partition on sd card or rom won't boot. Also first boot takes around 15-20min while all u see is htc screen.
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium

Yeah, I've used the CDMA beta patch. I got BlissMod007 to boot and work for the most part. The only big thing I could find that didn't work was the wi-fi, which is rather important. It's still a pretty impressive patch, considering most other features work. However, without wi-fi, I don't see it as a viable ROM to run all the time. If they release new versions of the CDMA patch, or a version strictly for the CDMA Desire, I'll be sure to try it.

yeah after working on it trying every way around it i could think of i still can't get it to work. I need to delete a line from the rom that starts with assert failed: getprop('ro.product.device') =="bravo" E:Error in /sdcard/Pays ... i can delete it but it never stays gone. I don't know what to do, i guess i'm giving up for now.

Extract the zip for the ROM somewhere on your computer. Then go into "META-INF -> com -> google -> android". Open the file updater-script in Notepad or something and delete the line that says:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "bravo" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "bravo");
Then zip the contents back up in a new .zip file and put that on your phone and flash it. It should work. However, I've had problems with any ROM I've done this with (such as with wi-fi not working), so I don't recommend it. Stick to ROMs designed for bravoc. I'm currently using Cyanogenmod 7.1 and it works great.

i got the updater script changed to remove the assert.getprop whatever line, but what do i do with the cdma patch file? do i just flash it after i flash the changed rom zip file?

Yeah, just flash it after you flash whichever ROM you load. But, I'll say again, some features don't work even with the patch. It may not be ideal to use a ROM that doesn't work fully for daily use.

Well I don't have any wifi service where I live, I don't use Bluetooth, so as long as the internet connection/phone/mms works I'm good lol
Sent from my HTC Desire CDMA using XDA App

Ah, you should be fine then, yeah. I've also heard the accelerometer doesn't work, so the phone won't tilt the display. There may also be a bug with the notification LED. I think that's all I've heard so far. I didn't keep the ROM on my phone long enough to find all of its flaws.

And this is why I choose and LOVE xda forums. Thanks a million peeps. Oh and I have a cdma desire i'm not using because i got into it with my carrier and refuse to pay. So if you need a guinny pig for some stuff i'm glad to help.

I'm scared about rooting my HTC Desire.

I just saw a post on Lifehacker, using unrevoked3 to root my desire (id give a link but im new and apparently not allowed), and this seamed like a nice simple process, so i thought id give it a go. but before i do, i just have a few question that id really love a detailed answer or two to, if you would be so kind.
1. Am i going to brick my phone and cry because i bought it unlocked and cant get it replaced because im a poor student?
2. What the hell is this Radio business?
3. Can i put it back to normal so i can get back to OTA updates from HTC when they finally come to there Senses with FroYo (get it )
4. Am I going to lose all my stuff because i cant back it up before i root.
Thats basically it, if you can answer that, id be incredibility incredibility grateful.

1. if u follow the steps exactly as explained, and never touch the phone when it is installing flashing formatting etc etc then u get 99.9% u wont brick it
dont worry im also a student and i bet theres more of us here
2. hmm not sure how to explain what a radio is
3. yes u can, but dont see a reason why, cuz devs update roms quicker and add more functions to them
4. if you just root then no you wont loose your stuff, if you want to install a custom rom then yes you will loose it but you can always back it up using free rommanager back up
This is the main reason why I haven't rooted my Desire yet, despite 1 or 2 friends urging me to. They have Heros. I haven't got the money to replace it and seen as it's on contract I'd be pretty screwed for the next 13 months or something.
Don't worry
Understandable.
I was thinking the same.
It was when I run out of space to install apps and gmail stop working bcoz of low memory space warning.
I decided to take the plunge.
Used unrevoked to root my desire and installing my second rom today lol.
Oh and the radio is the file that contains radio setup for froyo roms.
the one you need for froyo rom is version 5.xx. eg. 32.42.00.32U_5.09.00.08.
so if you are going to install froyo based roms then you need the radio file update or all hell breaks loose.
you can update the radio then install the rom or the other way around up to you.
have fun and ask if you need help.
Was in a similar situation and finally took the plunge today.
Was 10x easier than I thought it would be. Follow the guides and you can't go wrong.

Radio is the part that handles WiFi, gps, 3G and all that stuff. E.g. you have low WiFi signal, you can update the radio to fix it.

Ok guys thanks for all the replies, I'm.defiantly doing it now, my phone alarm has failed to go off too many times now (hey any excuse to convince myself to do it lol) and I want to see if a new ROM will fix it.
Shall I go for OpenDesire or CyanogenMod? I want froyo, and I want it stable (preferably I would still love sense if that's possible).
Also on a side note, I don't want to appear idiotic, I know what a radio is, I just wasn't sure what everyone meant by "update" it, and why you have to do of separately to flashing the ROM.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App (thanks for the tip due this app )
The ROM's here don't include the radio hence why you need to update the radio seprately, most, if not all, the froyo ROM's will need the latest radio.

Bugs are to be expected but many fixes are to be expected too
opendesire from what i've heard but they lack sense i think, i wanted sense so i chose neophytes rom (it does slow down when i DL stuff from the market sometimes though, i should report it to him)
You flash a radio like a rom, just use unrevoked to do it
BTW use unrevoked with the rooting, easiest thing ever

Sorry about the questions, normally id just go barrelling into to something like this and work it out as i went, but this is serious stuff this time. I want to be sure.
Thanks again

i think it means you just locked your phone to the simcard that was in your phone at the time. Rooting it should unlock it again though
BTW here is an unrevoked guide, neophytes ROM and the radio (use the latest, not the leaked one), follow all the instructions to the letter and you should be fine (follow unrevoked's rom flashing instructions for the radio though, thats how i did it and gawd was it easy)
Thank you very very much. With those guides in hand I'm about to do it. See you on the other side ha ha

Sorry to ask a stupid question, can i root my desire, keep my current OS as it is and still get the OTA update to 2.2 as it would if my phone wasn't rooted?
I would try the modaco custom rom, search for it. Its based on the latest leaked rom from HTC so its stable, its froyo, it has sense as well as the new 2.2 features like tethering, new widgets, 720p video etc etc
i rooted my phone at the weekend and im loving it!

Agree, also have the modaco ROM. Best thing is that you bake your own rom and only put items that you really need.

Well mate.. I was pretty much in the same boat as you.. Student, wanting to root my phone, didn't know what all the stuff was.. And I'll try and rectify it for you as much as possible, following your points .
1. If you follow the guides which have been put up by unrevoked, or the guide on this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189 or our lovely friends over at android.modaco http://android.modaco.com/content/h...e-now-with-hboot-0-80-and-os-to-1-21-support/ then you shouldn't have a problem at all. I was feeling the same way, was confused and really didn't want to risk the rooting process.
2. The Radio.. It's not like a Radio which we use to tune in to FM and AM, think of it as something to help other processes work in the phone. Be it Wifi, 3G, HSDPA, GSM.. All these get updated with the new ROM's (Froyo) and they need the Radio to make them run smoother, and better. Think of a Radio as a driver when you're updating something on a computer. But BE CAREFUL when flashing the Radio, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT touch the phone until it has completely finished booting (2 or 3 times, you'll know when it's finished).
3. You can put it back to normal any time, just by flashing an older ROM on to it, just have a look at some of the official RUU's on this forum.
4. The sort of stuff which you're worried about are photos, text messages and apps? Best way for this is to invest in MyBackupPro, where you can back up all of your texts online etc. For apps and all, why not download ASTRO from the Market? It can back up all your apps and install them again no problems.
I hope this helps
Dan

[Q] rooting, I really...

Hi, I have the desire, and well I'm board with it, I want to mess around with different roms like miui, gingerbread extra. But I don't understand, please could someone help me with some of my questions? Thank :
1) What are the chances of breaking it through rooting, and what could happen, and would should you do it it does happen?
2) what does bricked mean, and is there away of unbricking?
1) what do you do if a bad rom breaks?
1.5) what are the chances of things going wrong?
2) Can you have more than one rom installed at a time, and switch between them, a bit like you can with launchers, and uses the same apps and data on those roms?
2.5) Is unrevoked the best way to root?
3) I you can have more than one rom, can you have a gingerbread rom, side loaded with a froyo from?
4) How do you switch between the roms?
5)Does rooting affect battery life?
6) Using unrevoked, is there anyway to unroot?
7) where do you find roms, and does the rom manager in the market allow you to install them without flashing?
8)Is there a good htc sense hd or gingerbread rom that works well?
9) With different roms increase the speed of the device, like the n1 is faster than the desire, yet they have the same hardware?
I know that a lot of questions but i am really nervousness about this and I can't seem to find todate answerers to these questions. If someone could help me with these questions I would be very great full, as I want to get more our of my device. Thanks ( I know there are a lot of rooting threads, but I really need to find out as much as i can before I undergo this, I love my desire too much to allow it to break when there was something that i could have done)
There is a remote chance (0.00000001%) of anything going wrong as long as you follow the steps to the rooting process and S-Off. If you become bricked then there is a topic on how to unbrick.
Easiest and best way to root is to using unrevoked 3.32. Make sure you download the HBoot drivers from their website. After rooting, it is also good to make your device S-Off'd. Your able to flash HBoot templates to change partition sizes and also change the splash and remove system apps and so on.
You can only have 1 rom installed at a time. You have to flash roms as well, that's how you install them and other zip files through the recovery. If a rom breaks, you can just flash it again. Installing a rom takes 5 mins, if that really.
You find roms in the Android Dev section. You can use Rom Manager but you have to pay or something.
You can have a fast rom or a "slower" rom. It depends on how it's been built and stuff but also the kernel can help to speed things up. (Speed isn't always the answer). There is no best or crappiest rom either. It's best to test many out for yourself.
Battery life again depends on the rom and the kernel.
Things To Download
To root a device
To S-Off your device
Roms and alsort of other nice things
Hope this helps you out.
Thanks very much , but do you need to install "S-Off" as I don't quite understand what it does, and which one to download and how to install it. Thanks
You don't need to install S-Off after a root. S-Off just allows you to do more things like uninstall system apps, change the splash screen, change the HBoot (not quite sure what else). If your not going to be doing them sort of things then stay away from it.
When you root, the unrevoked utility roots it and changes the recovery to ClockworkMod 2.5.1.8. That recovery allows you to boot into it and install roms through it. It has a menu and you use your optical tracker to navigate through them. That is how you install different roms.
With the roms, you need to see which one you like. I've been through almost all of them and I have one I stick to now. I can't say which is the best, that's for you to decide. The Gingerbread roms are Android 2.3 and I THINK, emphasis on the THINK, that the rest of the roms are Android 2.2.
I think at first your like, oh what if I mess things up and stuff but you won't if you follow instructions. When I first did it, I completely messed up and couldn't even boot into a rom at all and was wondering how to sort it out. I got there in the end but still. I also forgot to mention, if you want the stock rom back, you can install one of the RUU's. It will wipe everything and you will have to root again, but you will have stock.
Thanks very much , when change roms will you lose all of your apps, and data?
Yes. When your changing roms, you have to erase all data. It is a must and everything will go, apps, user data including texts and contacts, EVERYTHING!!!.
Thanks so much for all your help, i'm going to do it now, and use cyanogen mod 7 or 6.x. Thanks again
No worries. If you get stuck, just message me or something.
Completely IGNORE S-OFF if you're a n00b, it shouldn't be recommended to anyone who:
1. Doesn't know what it is
2. Doesn't actually need it
Concentrate on rooting and running a custom ROM first
Not actually true. When I S-Off'd my Desire, I didn't have a bloody clue, other than it disables all security, what it was. You eventually learn things like I did and read a little more. S-Off is a great tool to have on your phone because it gives you all the more freedom to do what ever you want with your device. I will say for all the "n00bs" out there that if you are S-Off'ing then please read it all carefully, unlike me because I could have messed it all up.
You were lucky - better to learn first, do second
I saw recently a wiped imei which made me cautious

I had a stock Desire and wouldn't move from it. Then the niggles in the current build just annoyed me enough to actually go down the root route (see what I did there? )
So I rooted and after a few mishaps along the way (make backups of everything, phone and SD card, especially if you partition it!) I am very happy with my Ginger Villain ROM. A few things still niggle (Me avatar in texts blank, phone reboots randomly to name a few), but its not as bad as it used to be. I can live without Sense as well surprisingly enough.
I also did the same for a friend, and stuck them on LeeDroid 2.3d and as they are technically challenged, it works for them sweet as.

Haha that made me laugh. As for your contact icon of yourself, you need to add yourself. Your own number and name and then you can add a picture. Yes it is annoying a little because Android natively doesn't have like a "contact card" for yourself.
Rooting and S-Off is the best thing I did by far

Rooted EVO, want to install Gingerbread... Basic ROM?

Alright, so I have honestly looked every where and read as much as I can.
I have a Rooted EVO with the stock ROM. I really want to update to Gingerbread but am very confused. I do not want to lose my rooted status and I do not want a ROM with a bunch of MODS. I just want a simple stock ROM with Gingerbread and Root access. Is this possible. I am confused by everything I read and do not want to brick my phone.
Will updating my phone with the OTA while Rooted ruin my phone? Will I be able to keep my root status?
Thanks!

There are two different rooted versions (with very minor modifications) of the new stock Gingerbread ROM (anything with the labeled "Sense" is based on HTC's ROM's, though some of them are based on ROM's from other phones), both on the first page of threads in this forum. Look for "4.22.651.2" in the thread subject--and yes, those will keep your phone rooted and S-OFF. I believe there's a third thread with a method of updating without a flash, and yet another with minor modifications to the stock ROM (the Titanium-X ROM).
By contrast, anything that says "AOSP" is based on the Android Open Source Project, and therefore quite different from an HTC ROM, though all functions work on many of them (but there is some debate on how well the various radios work on AOSP ROM's).
Okay maybe I had that coming or maybe I just didn't phrase the question right.
I looked at the page linked above before I posted this and I read it all and still was confused. I guess I am looking for the idiots guide to doing this. I don't feel confident enough on my own.
I DID read, ALOT, and I looked at all the posts that are suggested when posting a new thread.

They are referring to the fact that this thread is for development only. For future reference you can avoid being flamed by posting in the Q&A section.

Alright will do!
I thought the Q&A was for other basic questions. My error.
Do you have the latest recovery installed of RA or Clockwork ?
I have clockwork i believe. I just did what I think is a nandroid backup, I went into recovery and did backup.
That's always smart so you are doing good so far. What you want to do now is download the zip file and place it on your SD card. You can download it directly on your phone if its easier for you (wifi recommended). Just follow the link posted by dodgerbluehero above and I would recommend starting with the odexed version.
Now go into recovery and choose flash from zip - then - choose zip on SD card. Navigate to the downloaded file and hit the power button to select it and again to confirm. It can take a few minutes to write the files so just leave it alone. It will tell you when it's done and you can reboot.
These instructions are from my memory but should be pretty close. You would typically want to wipe but the dev says not to worry about it if you are coming from a stock rom.
Give it a shot, you will be fine. Pm me if you have any questions because the mods will probably close this thread soon. Good luck!

what confuses me is where it says "firmware". Do I still have to install that or just the ROM??
The firmware is optional. You can install the rom and then decide if you want to flash the radio as well afterwards.
After you flash, the first boot sometimes takes a little while. Just let it do it's thing. You will be happily surprised how easy this actually is to do.

but what benefit does it have? is the radio i have not as good?
Some people get better results with signal/3g speeds/wimax. The consensus seems to be that it varies by phone and area.
You can flash the rom without also flashing the radio and be just fine. Stop worrying and take the leap.
On the other hand this may not be for you.

Well I appreciate the time you spent explaining it. I just don't have the money to buy a new phone if I brick it. I rooted my phone on my own but never did any rom updates. I am going to try it once it downloads. Thank you again.
Oh one more thing, be sure that your phone has plenty of charge to make it through the flash and restart or that could lead to bricking your phone.

Agreed, at this point in the game, that's about the only way to brick your phone. It's one of my personal favorite little jokes when clockworkmod asks me are you sure? This cannot be undone! Darn near everything can be fixed thanks to this awesome community!
Root
Thanks to everyone for keeping this going it has helped me so much. One quick question I have installed the ROM and the firmware but I see in the apps things like the blockbuster app and wanted to remove it. I cant seem to uninstall it so I thought it wasn't rooted properly. I tried using Unrevoked3 on it but it failed stating
Error: failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?
am I forgetting something simple or do I have to try and downgrade the firmware?
Thanks,

I think I recall seeing something about that error on the unrevoked website. I'm out and about right now but I'll check on it when I get home, but in the meantime if you wanna do some digging, I'd start there

[ROM] Stock 2.3.4, Sense 2.1 [Rooted][Apps2sd][US Cellular] - Only for marvelc A510c

A cursory warning that this rom has A2sd installed; so, one will definately want to format their sd card [and particularly /sd-ext] correctly. I recommend [for this rom] ext2 on /sd-ext not over 1.5 gigs, no swap, whatevers left or you prefer to set for fat32. Also, though written in, you might want to dl and install A2SDGUI from market; link to guide for it and Links2SD found later in thread.
This is a rebuilt nandroid backup from dsixda's Android Kitchen. Be sure to do a nandroid and do NOT flash this on any other model wildfire s [A510c ONLY]. 2.3.4 as is stock to US Cellular, added everything including busybox, A2SD, and su, If any devs would like to pull it apart and meld your kernel in, go for it. Again, make nandroid. Should have full HTC sense 2.1. Download Link2SD from market for some space savings, and don't say I didn't warn you to nandroid [three times].
Also, as with any new rom installation. I recommend doing the following in your recovery: a factory reset [which wipes your data and cache] and advanced clear dalvik cache. If you do those two things, you usually don't have any transference issues; Superwipe is also a good alternative primer for wiping.
Code:
Android OS version : 2.3.4
Device : marvelc

Rooted (Superuser.apk + su) : YES
Rooted (unsecured boot.img) : YES
BusyBox installed : YES
BusyBox run-parts support : YES
Apps2SD (Apps to EXT) enabled : YES
/data/app enabled : NO
Custom boot animation allowed : NO
Nano text editor installed : NO
Bash shell support : YES
/system/framework is deodexed : NO
/system/app is deodexed : NO
radio.img found : NO
ROM will wipe all data : NO

Changelog:
12-13-11 got contribution of
Oldest nandroid PoGoP had (made shortly after root)
built from that.
Known Issues:
Friendstream only has HTC Twitter - no other choices
This is how it came stock; I tried to fix it, but will have to port another sense to get it right.
Thanks
So many I can't remember them all.
eoghan2t7 - for his work developing s-off [w/o xtc clip]
GotsOJ - for being the first to document his s-off experience (was very helpful).
alquez - for his work on the Unoffical CWM Recovery and port of CyanogenMod [which is where I'll be spending some development time next (kernel editing)]
dsixda - of course for his kitchen
jikantaru - lots of sense development for the Euro-side of this phone
simonsimons34 - for making Superwipe marvelc edition, once supplied w/ idea and src links
PoGoP - for contribution of files and being first tester
Works on Virgin Mobile as well
Although this will have US Cellular branding (and apps). So far everything I've tried works on VM USA too. These guys got HTC FM Radio and WiFi hotspot native and not as gunked up. Still need to test some stuff, but so far its nice. This Rom as my other one does not include radio.img; which, is probably why it works.
Rob
Tested network, sms, mms,fm radio, WiFi (and hotspot)... All working. Amended OP.

so does this mean that I could potentially use the other custom roms around here and just not include the radio.img file?
on a side note apart from what I just asked, any way to include data2sd with this rom so that you could use one of the sd card partitions for internal storage?? Similar to how [ROM]Wildfire S -JikantaruROM XE™|Sense2.1|DATA2SD|HighQuality & Performance 10-30-11 uses data2sd.

Probably could. Apps2sd does the same thing for me; Just download a app like Link2sd, let it flash the script [according to the partitioning of your personal sd card], reboot and voila... All apps and dalvik vm can be moved to sdcard.
Most of the other custom roms are written for GSM phones and most marvelc flashers have reported wifi, data, bt, etc not working [major flaws]. You can get calling if you backup your APN info [APN backup & restore - app on market] but no data... you won't keep the rom(s) longer than to test it... no PRL data etc [important for us CDMAers ]. Short answer... not yet. I know of one dev universalizing his rom... but as of this writing, not yet. Only mine and simonsimon's roms work for marvelc as of this writing.
Rob
yea, I'm already using link2sd, but after moving everything possible, or linking everything possible, it still only leaves me with like 20mb of internal storage. with the rom I mentioned earlier, using data2sd, it would basically install the rom directly to the sd card, and use the 2nd partition as the "internal" storage. making the internal storage around 700+mb available.
There's this one gps app that I am dying to try, just to see how good it is myself, but it tells me that theres no room to install the maps This is after the app itself is moved to the sd card, and with about 20mb available. That's part of the reason I would like to have data2sd on this device.
At least that's what I have discovered so far, btw, im still a n00b to android phones. so im not totally up to date on all the diff apps and what they all do, so please correct me if i am at a wrong assumption.

Don't like Google Maps eh? I have a hard time justifying adding (or even trying) an app over 10mb... Google's apk limit I think is 25mb for the market. That being said, I am working on a custom marvelc rom that I will release with option for Apps2sd or data2sd etc. flashable zip mods and release the rom without them. [this would mean your practice would be full wipe, install rom zip, install [your choice of mod] zip, etc. I might even look into this guy that wrote some roms for the G2 ILWT or something like that... he had a lil text script you could modify...[makes it all one command]. Either way, it will be a new thread when I release the custom rom. Won't be immediate either; I'm 40 and move like a turtle. I am shooting for a release before Christmas though. [looking at everything inc. compiling 2.3.5 kernel and seeing if I can get that running on our cdma's, possible sense porting [true 3.0 if it works], etc.]
The best system file size scenario you will see is with an AOSP rom [like CyanogenMod]. A couple devs are working on those type roms for the marvelc (simon[2] and alquez). I'll assist where I can, but stay out of their way. Alas, I catch myself rambling yet again.
Looked over Data2sd... It basically uses your sd card as your data partition, but most prefer DarkTremor's A2sd still. Just hard to get rolling sometimes. I did post a mini-guide on it over on the VM USA stock rom thread here.
i know this device is sort of "old hat" i have a question, the rom from this OP works well on uscc wildfire s (cdma) one thing i dont understand is how come the rom reflects "virgin mobile" carrier brand on lockscreen, and notification pull down, also in settings/network/operator name...
will someone please explain this to me.
i do not see much uscc support for this device, rightfully so. i have yet to flash a rom for a510c that reflects the uscc official "get your phone back to stock roms" am i missing something?
Well there was a uscc dev early in the game, but to answer your question, the rom probably touched my phone. I know you guys have had an update.. as has vm usa and metro. Unfortunately, going back and updating.. their could be a possibility of ten different hboots (for the three carriers, that I know of [original, htc unlock, update1, [update2-only metropcs]]). Also, the newest ones aren't as easily hackable. For uscc there would be three possible hboots, and these provide a base. If you would like to get back to stock entirely, use football's RUU. I paid for and he agreed to release these for all marvelc carriers. Otherwise, I could do something now without it touching my phone Early on, had no RUU and little way to test otherwise.
Rob
PS Thank you for letting me know. And your post counts toward interest. So far, the guy [Pogop] who shared his nandroid has pm'd me.. but I guaged interest as low; and thus match my priority for uscc specific development. But you've raised it from a 1 to a 2 If it gets to 10 it gets done right then.. but I got a list of tasks. Sadly those under 5, I have not been able to make time for despite my best efforts. If any other uscc users would like Team Blueridge attention, now would be the time to chime in with a +1

This ROM is working great on my US Cellular A6230 HTC Wildfire S
Nice to back to fully working ROM.. cannot find any customs that work with my model :/
Thanks very much chap..

Fixed! Was my own fault regarding the market apps, figured it out...
safe to install OTA System Updates?
Hello,
This question refers to this ROM which I installed a week ago...
I have flashed this great, stable Stock Rom to work with my Marvelc Wildfire s, which took me forver to find and I'm very happy with. However, I have now got a notification stuck on the bar telling me there is a System Update available. My first question is; IS IT SAFE TO INSTALL THE OTA UPDATE OVER MY CURRENT ROOTED ROM? If so, is there anything I should know prior to doing that?
My second related question is; If it is not safe to install the update, or uneccessary, unimportant or just a plain nuisance, how do I get rid of the notification that will not clear and prevent them from appearing in the future?
Thanks in advance for your help!
I don't think you can update it, you don't have the original HTC recovery that came on your phone anymore...if you don't want that message to pop up go to settings-->about phone--> and somewhere in there there's an option to turn the update checker off. sorry I don't know the exact menus I've been using cyanogen since august.

That link did the job great! You know I tried searching for that yesterday using keywords "ota, notices and updates" but never got that result... strange that....
Anyway, thanks Rob, I did what was instructed with no issues, hopefully it prevents those stinky updates. I don't know why I would want to update anything while I have everything just how I like it.
You may want to add "Working with the US Cellular A6230" to your description as I know many folk are looking for a 'working' rom...
Cheers!
no more USC logo on boot...
Hey... I fiddled a bit more with this and got a few apps loaded and working great... still no problems with this ROM...
Fixed OTA Updates as per insink17's instructions...
Have excellent, phone,data,gps,sms,mms etc...
removed or froze much of the remaining sytem apps that were chewing up battery/ram...
added some nice live wallpapers...
and best of all, got rid of the US Cellular bootanimationimage and can now add any boot animation I like! (Have a smart little glowing Droid on startup at present... cool!)
Thumbs Up!

Pissed Off Desire HD

Hi everybody, I was thinking whether to open new "story" or not and I thought I can do it by myself..but..I did everything I could, I have read hundreds of forums..some things totally confused me and some simply I don't understand..so however I decided to open new thread because I really need professional help here.
Here is the story,
I've bought used HTC DHD before two days with an custom rom android 4.2.2 but WI-FI not worked and also camera not worked very well (when I take a shot phone turns off). i have tried few roms in hope that will fix the problem (PACman v23, CM10.1 and JT 4.2.2 - and still on JT) but nothing. In bootloader says Unlocked but security is damn ON. So, I worked two whole fckin day without success. I have tried many tools, guides etc but it simply won't make S-OFF. Also I've tried to flash to few stock RUU roms to do a downgrade but every time when try I'm getting some errors (140, 150, 170 or even unknown error xD). I really don't know what to do anymore and because I'm pissed off I came here. I love this phone and I won't sell it third day already. I gave last money for this smartphone..I won't money back..I won't new phone..I just want this to be working device. On pic you can see what I already tried..
So please, be patient and take your time to solve this **** together.
Come on guys, I know this can be fixed. I need just little of your time. and thank you very much in advance.
NO idea why you so desperately want S-OFF in the first place as you can flash custom ROMS without it and there is no other way you can fix wifi on software level (so most probably it's a hardware problem), but anyone have access to search in the upper right corner if you wish.
As for the phone shutting down when taking photos, it's a common problem and is thought to be related to aging battery, but you have a great chance of fixing(compensating) it by increasing CPU voltage a couple of notches. Install CPU Master and increase the mV of corresponding maximum frequency used, it should be 1Ghz to look at if not overclocked, try to increse it by 50mV
You are unlocked and still s-on so, as with every one who has issues like yours, you need to flash the boot.IMG via fastboot from the ROM you want to install, after you've installed the rom.
I suggest switching to SVHD by mygamers, every thing works, its super smooth and is great on battery too.
P.s. unless you REALLY really need the advanced functions of s-off, I wouldn't worry to much about it.
"Some" advantages to unlocked bootloader and s-off are:
Flash new Roms direct with out having to flash boot.img
Restore nandroids that are different from current installed rom easier
Flash radios
Change splash screen (you may only see it when you turn on phone, but it can be awesome thing to show off a bit)
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
First, why do you need S-Off? You can flash ROMs without S-Off, and S-Off won't fix your WiFi problems. It's not clear whether you're successfully flashing ROMs right now, but you can. You do need to flash the ROM zip's boot.img from fastboot each time after you flash s ROM from recovery.
Second, please bump a thread only once every 24 hours per the forum rules.
It's pretty damn clear that he have tried other ROMS.

But he finishes that line with "but nothing." Given the number of "flash the boot.img" posts I've had to write lately, I was wondering if that meant he managed to get them to boot or not.
Sorry guys that I did't mentioned before but mainly what I want to do is to bring back stock rom but I can't..someone said that I need S-OFF for that, I heard that when you flash stock rom can fix wi-fi and camera and then if you want can install new custom rom after. About damaged hardware, everything is possible. I was in service shop and guy there said that hardware is modem in essence that controling wi-fi, GSM, bluetooth and GPS. Maybe I understood him wrong. But my BL and GSM working just fine. I have to try new step-by-step tutorial, I'll be back soon.

You don't need to get S-Off. Just relock your bootloader with fastboot and run the RUU executable from your computer while the phone's connected to it.

OK, let's clear this. Every rom I've tried worked but wi-fi not again, camera is little stable in JT 4.2.2. Only rom that not worked was JT 4.3 beta 3. Installed very well but when it boots it stays on splash screen forever.

Excuse me, but its "pretty damn clear" that only jellybean roms have been tried!
Why are you getting so agro (agrovated for non Aussie readers)) at the mention of trying to use something other than jellybean?

umm if your stuck on splash screen you haven't flashed the kernel. Extract the zip, then place the boot.img into your adb folder. Reboot your phone into hboot then fastboot. Now go to your adb folder type in fastboot flash boot boot.img from cmd.
If that doesn't work to achieve s-off on newer versions of android is 1) Make a goldcard 2) Downgrade with a ruu 3) Get root exploit 4) Get s-off exploit (This was back in 2010 so I don't know if the procedure changed but I s-offed with this. It's probably easier since its 2013:silly
For future reference, Unlocked bootloader means the boot.img is restricted from recovery YOU need to flash kernels via fastboot with Unlocked Bootloader, S-OFF means nothing is restricted apart from splash image, ENG-Soff is engineering mode is same as s-off but with a Eng tag and splash screen is changeable.

First of all there was no any hate nor any of this "agro" of yours lol.
Secondly, none of the mentioned JB ROMS have wifi issues, so there is really no point in wasting time and trying every available ROM.
