Remote Desktop to play Computer Games like WOw? Splashtop? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I have done some research with the Splashtop application for android. Its old news and I know its possible to stream videos/games from your phone.
Lately though, I've been trying to figure out how to play games over the Splashtop stream using wifi connection. The fps is fine, only problem is the input... what controls can I use to control my character on World Of Warcraft?
Has anyone setup Splashtop on their Epic Touch? Also, is that the only application that supports remote desktop video streaming?

My favorite is logmein ignition it is 29.99 but it is a remote desktop control that you can hear music steam video and eveything on your computer and controll it with your phone A+++++ app

..... using XDA Premium App

The LogmeIn application supports video streaming? Wasn't aware, I might give that a try, thank you.

I have logmein and use it often, but streaming ANY media is not recommended. Music stops constantly and video is not possible. My PC is on a LAN with 12/1.5 internet and video sucks. It is just not plausible for that and for gaming, tried it.

All I did was added web interface and connected from phone it's working perfectly on my Galaxy S and absolutely love it!!!
Oooh wonder if I can stream DVDs to my phone? That would be epic!
What file formats work for you?
I spent hours trying to get the damn thing to work, port forwarding, rtsp commandline codes, telenet interface, web interface. HOURS and nothing streamed atall, not even music.
What exactly was it you did? mine gets stuck on buffering and no video or audio appears
Load vlc, web interface, open media file and it worked?

Well for me I opened VLC on my computer and added the web interface.
Then I opened VLC Stream & Convert on my phone, went to connect and clicked scan. It found my computer so I clicked connect then just clicked browse and picked any movie in different formats (wmv, mp4, mov, avi) and it played fine... Do you have a router? Maybe it's something to do with that, I don't know? Also the only firewall I have is just Mac OS X built in one
works perfectly.
Only 2 things to correct.
the apk will stay always on. Need a task killer do close the app.
and a strange error always showing:
INFO: a processing error occurred.
Tested in my lan and externally. working good.
Amazing app. now the only thing missing is a way to reproduce the my dreambox to vlc ( easy ) and then be able to open it with vlc in my galaxy...
Got it working, didn't realize it was something as simple as HAVING to use the in built browser... damn it lol
Few bugs, annoying bitrate limit, minor sound glitches, sometimes audio goes out of sync and audio wont play for some files
Otherwise a great app, wish VNC could resize subs though, causes some issues
For the audio sync problems (or no audio at all) I forced it to Stereo under rtsp video settings and now is playing all my files fine.

Hi if you hold long Play/Pause button this is equal to Stop and than "Back" button to exit the APP
Processing error bug me too.
I will like to use this app to stream my dreambox TV-outside home network. So i Have sugestion to have different profile to stream depending of internet speed.
kinder__bueno do you find how to watch dreambox stream on Galaxy S?
Excellent, dead easy to set up & works reasonably well. Watched a 90min film last night, the sound cut out for about 5 seconds 4 times during playback (no real biggie) Cant get sound from MKV files though, any ideas?
If the mkv have multichannel sound, you have to set channels to stereo in the settings to get sound on the stream to the galaxy s.
Why install this when you can just check "share" in windows media player and use built-in AllShare app? Or am I missing something?

Windows Media Player doesn't exist on a Linux system?
Wmp also doesn't stream many file types. Importantly not 1080p video.
Vlc encodes and streams everything

I see in the market that there are 2 versions of "VLC Stream & Convert".
Can anybody tell me what exactly the difference is between them?
And is it possible to watch live Dreambox streams on my Galaxy S by using the VLC server and this app?
With Dogaplayer and a VLC server I can watch the current Dreambox stream on my Galaxy S over LAN, WAN and 3G/H. But I can't control it, the server only streams the Dreambox stream when it was started.
Very nice app
Minor problem (also have this with AllShare) is that I can't correct wrong aspect ratio, wide videos appear stretched (long faces).
Any way I can fix this besides re-encoding? The videos play fine (albeit letterboxed) in vlc and mplayer.
Whats the video quality like?
and does it give you a guide on setting up the web interface and all that?
works well with wifi at home but it doesnt when you try with 3g. It just stays with buffering message forever.

Quality is good. (Air video was better)
No guide needed, just follow the steps on the page posted a few posts up.
Got myself an ipad the other day and installed Air Video on it. WOW what a great program, its so easy to use and quality is insane!!! I hope something this good will be made for android very soon.

[Q] Media Server from Outside of Home Network

How simple is it to allow my phone to view media streamed around my home network, when I'm out and about?
I know how to port forward and I use Serviio. Are there apps better suited to this than others? Can I just use EStrong File Explorer to browse to my home IP and port forward to the drive of my media server?
Any tips welcomed
Have you tried iMediaShare from the Market?
Or Audiogalaxy, also from the market. Requires registration and an app to be installed on your PC, but easy to setup and works like a charm.
I use subsonic, works a dream and a doddle to setup. think there was a license fee (£13) and you can stream or download direct to the phone.
just my 2cents
iMediaShare looks to be sending media from my phone to a TV, which I can do already with Skifta.
AudioGalaxy looks to be music only and it's actually more about video for me.
Subsonic says it does most video formats are supported, so I'll give that a go.
Many thanks everyone
iMediaShare starts a DLNA host/server so it can stream and play media (audio/video) from your media server (via Wi-Fi locally or via 3G). It can also stream youtube and all other listed sources to your DLNA enabled devices.
Well Subsonic didn't seem to be able to play my videos, so I'll try iMediaShare then, thanks.
**EDIT** I've just realised Skifta has a remote access, so I'll give that a go first, as I'm signed up with them already.

[Q] App to remotely access my home server (media)

Hi, I have a Home Server setup that feeds all my media (.avi .mkv .mp3 etc) to all my enabled devices around my home. Now I have a shiny new HoX I am looking for an App that will allow me to remotely connect (while I am away from home) to my server and play what ever media I want. Is there an app that will do this, or a combination of apps ? Thanks in advance
For music subsonic is by far the best solution that I have found. I have heard people have had success with plex as well, so you might want to look into that as well because it supports both music AND videos. Subsonic claims to support movies but I as of yet have not been able to figure out how to get a video to play on the Android client.

Plex. It's the greatest app in the world. Not only can you stream via your home network it allows you to stream over a 2-3MB HSPA connection remotely. To get the most out of it you'll probably have to do some file renaming on the server but it's worth it once you see how your media displays with cover art and descriptions. I use it on my phone, tablet, and all my Google TV's. PlayOn also allows you to access your own media but it's not as sleek as Plex.
Thanks, Ill look into it. If i remember right, my old samsung bluray player had plex in it .....

Help....want to stream video from PC to N7

I want to be able to stream varies video files (avi, mkv, etc) to my N7 from my PC while away from home. Tried looking to see if this was already talked about but couldn't see anything.
Tried Plex however unsuccessful in setting it up? Any links or suggestions or best app's or tutorial on setting this up? UPnP/DLNA or FTP (old school way)? Plex or BubbleUPnP or something else?
FYI....running Windows 7 x64 at home. Have N7 connected to my i9100 most of the time. Have newer Netgear WNDR3700-100NAS Wireless Gigabit Open Source Router at home. Also my N7 is not rooted.
Thank you in advance.
Have you tried orb or playon?
Have you tried VLC, or XBMC?

Just use a rdp app, splash top or any other ones

If you enable file sharing you can use es file explorer and dice player to stream from your PC but it has to be on the same network. I've been watching movies this way since I got my nexus and it works great. There's no lag or having to wait for buffer.
You should just go download qloud video server and then thank me after... I guarantee its exactly what you're looking for... easy to setup and works perfect ... seriously don't know why more people don't recommend this!
Best solution to the OPs question is Plex
Or dice VPN
Dice player will play videos over a shared folder.
Did you try Zumocast?
I'd say Plex too, don't really like Orb's interface, but if the OP was having issues setting up Plex (a very easy process in my experience) I would think that they will have similar issues with any other service.
Does Subsonic handle video? If so, Subsonic = instant win... I use it for music. Couldn't ask for much more than what Subsonic offers.
Note: It's free for basic use, but for mobile use you need to donate a few bucks to unlock a key to use it with mobile devices as well. I donated like 15 bucks. EASILY worth it. I hook up my N7 to some 2.0 speakers on my deck and stream from my server downstairs.
I use BSplayer stream video from NAS

i dunno about App, but the old school way is indeed the easiest way. set up FTP server in ur PC, open and forward FTP port from your router, use ES File Explorer to add the WAN IP address as FTP server.
of course, 2 issues:
- if u got Dynamic IP (standard home cable/satellite broadband) then u need to update it every now and then
- i cant guarantee it can "stream" if using a FTP setup.
the alternative is of course using ur router, setup a Virtual server, and share the windows machine. if u set it up securely and use the correct ports, then it could be the better solution. but im not sure how to configure it with Netgear.
Dice player have built in
Smb , ftp , http support with external sub files.
No rooting is required.
Plex is fairly simple to setup. Need to make sure you UPnP on your router, if not then set the default port in the firewall on the router for the app. After you install, launch your browser or right click the icon in the task tray. Web address is http://computerIP:32400/manage. You will then tell it where your TV, Movies, Pictures, and Music folder is and let it sit for awhile depending so it can gather all the metadata.
I have been using Plex for over a year now and it just keeps getting better. I use it on all my devices when I am out and use Plex Media on my desktop connected to the TV or stream to xbox on my office TV.
Also create an account with plex forums and you can use it to log in in the web GUI and it will make it easier to connect to your N7 while out of the house.
If you have other question on setting it up, PM me and I'll try my best to help out.

I set this up yesterday and it works beautifully. It's supposed to be for Motorola phones but you can get a patched version from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276410
Get the Patched-Rotation file
Setup is as easy as making an account and logging in to it on your PC and device. You also have to download the PC software from the zumocast site. I've tested this away from home and it works great. Streams videos, music, and basically opens any file up (like documents, pictures..etc)
Plex is best...
Ps3 media server/universal media server->mediahouse->dice or MX player and your good to go
---edit
never mind I forgot you mention away from home

[Q] dlna not streaming to ps3 very well

My note 2 streams perfectly to my windows 7 all-in-one but any time I try to stream to my ps3, it is choppy, skips, and throws errors. The PC and the PS3 are in the same room on the same network. Any ideas or is this just a problem with my setup somewhere? I have tried the native dlna server software, skifka, media server, and pixel, all with the same outcome

I use dnla to transfer videos to my ps3. It's painfully slow. I don't think it's your setup.
It's the same on my wife's gs3.
If anyone has a way to improve this, I'd greatly appreciate it too!
