hi there to experts is this possible
1) flash a nodo rom
2) use cotulla DFT, boot loader becomes 3.1
3) take a mango rom and delete the SPL from the package
4) flash the rom
5) u have mango OS and downgraded SPL?
Well, there's already lots of custom ROMs with Mango. If you mean a "retail" ROM with Mango, your method might be abel to get it (not sure) but it would still be technically a custom ROM (since you modified it) and I'm not sure it would receive future updats, so at that point why not just use one of the custom ROMs that already exist?
Also, you don't have to flash a full NoDo ROM. I was able to downgrade my SPL by just flashing a radio update, which didn't ever require wiping the phone.

depend on what SPL version you had , if you had 4.xx than you can flash official rom go back to lower SPL but if you had 5.xx than you had no way to go back

Hello all
I've done a little researching, sorry if i've overlooked something.....
My question is, i want to de-brand my Orange DHD, to remove all the Orange crap that comes with it, and install a stock ROM, then maybe a custom ROM after.... so o i basically get the Radio S-Off then i'm good to go?
Would i need to follow this first?
(cant post outside links yet but here is the title: [TOOL][VIDEO] One click Radio S-OFF, SimUnlock (Easy Root & S-OFF Guide)
My handset info is:
Baseband: 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Kernel: 2.6.32.21-gf3f553d
Build: 1.40.61.2
Software: Same as above
Bootloader: 0.85.0007
Thanks for any help.
I'm not an expert by any means as I'm also figuring out how to do all the flashing stuff.
But this is what I "think" you need on top of the radio s-off.
The sequence I followed is as follows
1) install visionary
2) temproot
3) permroot
4) s-off through http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855403
5) radio s-off using your posted thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855403
6) install titanium backup through market and do a backup
7) install rom manager through market and backup current rom
something I did extra
8) install sms backup & restore through market and backup
I think from here, you should be ready to flash a new rom and radio
And the instruction for flashing should be on the individual thread the rom you are trying to flash.
Maybe you can update your own steps so that it can be a guide for newcomers including myself
Thanks for the reply, i am a little bit worried though as of the different kernel versions and software versions which you need to be on etc? or doesn't it matter?
AFAIK, the radio and custom rom should be compatible.
i.e.
You install a particular rom, the thread will specifically recommend which radio to install.
As for the kernel, it should be together with the rom.
So, you just need to flash the rom and radio, and you will get rom, kernel and radio unless you want specific kernel with different rom.
Then, you will just download just the kernel and flash it.
For me, the most impt this is first do a backup of your stock rom and data.
I've done it
I done the S-off and the rooting, put the 1.32 stock rom on my sd card and booted into the bootloader and installed it, running fine
Thanks guys, i might look into custom ROMS next, i do that via clockworkmod right?
I did back up the rom via cloclwork before i installed the stock ROM but i don't know if it backed up correctly, the file size is only 4meg :/
Hi,
I am newbie in this forum
I just bought Desire Z in Hongkong. It has been updated to 1.84.708.1 before I start join this forum.
I want to root it, but after searching many times I cannot find the links or references to root this stock rom version.
What I found is that in order to root, we have to downgrade the software (stockrom) first. However, the quides only provides procedures to downgrade from 1.72 to 1.34.
My questions:
-Can I root (without firstly downgrade it)?
-If I have to downgrade, can I use/apply the procedures applied for downgrading from 1.71 to 1.34 (while my stock rom is 1.84.708.1)
Please point me to the links or references so that I can look into it
Appologize, if my questions have already been asked by others.
thanks in advance
Cheers
I'm also in the same boat. Did you find out what the solution was?
Nope, no official ROM versions 1.72 or higher are rootable yet.
The guide to downgrade from 1.72 to 1.34 and root will work for you.
After root, if you want to get back to a more recent ROM version, you can flash the Virtuous custom ROM, which is based on 1.85.
Thank you!

i have one question about downgrade ...is it able to backup the offical 1.84 rom for go back to OEM for warranty ?
cause the downgrade will wipe the 1.84 rom already
or does your 1.34 able to check the OTA upgrade if i want OEM back ?
or any method to backup the 1.84 before downgrade ?

You should be able to flash the official shipped 1.84 ROM if ever needed for warranty purposes.
As far as I know, there is no way to make a nandroid/clockworkmod backup of the 1.84 ROM, since it would require root to do so.

As explained in the above post, currently there is no tools to back up the ROM without firstly rooting your device Unfortunately, you cannot root rom v.1.84
ROM Manager and Titanium back up require the phone to be rooted in order to do back up.
So, What I did before rooting, is downloading the new stock rom from this link:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Vision
However, after rooted, you still can have OTA upgrade
So, now I have 2 shipped rom (i.e v.1.34 and v.1.84)
If I ever want to upgrade, I dont need OTA, I just flash it...
Cheers
thx for the help and the link help me alot
i just ask this for my friend cause he is worrying not able to going back to stock if need...
now just let him decide root or not....i dont want to take the risk if anything happen that cant return
ps : his phone is hk csl version ... not sure does the hk_cht version same as hk_csl version...and not sure does it effect warrenty

Did you use the goldcard method to downgrade?
coz i am stuck at step 11 of goldcard method. I am not able to copy the content of goldcard to removeable disk.
After i select the content in removable disk, "Paste write" option is not available
Tried it in XP and win 7..
Any help please..
If someone can post a guide on how to donwgrade succesfully from 1.84, that would help a lot of peoples including my self.
Question here ; i have another Desire Z witch he is root actually, so it is possible to clone the root one and copy it to the unroot desire z 1.84 ?
Good morning Developers and community
As i'm completely new to HTC devices, flashing, rooting, and so on ... i've got a short question for you all
Actually i'm on an Austrian (A1) branded and simlocked HTC Desire HD with a Vodafone_fr branding (yes the provider uses that *** branding)
Android Version: 2.3.3
HTC Sense: 2.1
Baseband: 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M
Kernel: 2.6.35.10-gd2564fb
Build: 2.50.163.3 CL123205 release-keys
Software: 2.50.163.3
As i want to get rid of al these annoying pre-installed trial apps and as i want to recieve OTA updates in time and not when the provider is ready to send them (if they do ...) i decided to root the device by using the
new aahk tool to try to get 2.3.4 or higher for my DHD somehow
This aahk worked perfect for my device, no problems at all and i could get rid of all these apps, freeing some memory in my device
As this tool roots, Radio s-off, sets super cid, removes the simlock on this phone
i'm currently not able to get ota updates from anywhere (if i got that right from all the threads i read)
Now i was thinking about flashing the device with a htc rom and found this one on shipped-roms:
RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.50.405.2_Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_release_199042_signed.exe
The questions i have to you all are:
- is this the correct RUU for my device
- if i flash the device with an RUU, i'm i able to get OTA updates or do i have to set it to Radio S-ON manually again.
- if so - how ?
- is the simlock still removed with an RUU flash ?
i don't care if i have root access or not as i only want to have a clean installation without any provider c**p on my device
Thank you all in advance for your answers
Greetings from Austria

- yes 2.50.405.2 is the latest official RUU
- You don't need to be S-ON to get OTA
- This RUU doesn't contain anything for Simlock (as it is operator specific)
Have you flashed a custom recovery like 4EXT or CMW? If not then flashing it will help you to flash between different custom ROMs..

Wow thank you so much for your quick reply!
Hm good question. I just used the aahk tool to get rid of the sim lock and to get root access.
I did not install any rom so far.
The tool also set a SuperCID. Don't know if i matters or not.
According to the tool, the clockworkmod is installed and i can see it in the bootloader and i already did a backup of my rom to the SD card.
(go to recovery -> ClockworkMod v5.0.2.0)
But will the CWM still remain after the RUU flash !?
Thought, that it will be overwritten and the phone un-rooted
thx again !
Good news, if u already have clockwork recovery installed than no need to flash the ruu as it will overwrite recovery. You can either try my GB Sense 3.0 or i can give u an optimized / rooted 2.50.x build if u want

Trying to summarize:
- OTA does not work with both of them if i got it right
- if I flash with 2.50.x RUU build from HTC i can re-root this build again using the aahk tool (should work with 2.50) and i have an unbranded rootet DHD without any provider apps again.
- if I take your optimized build i don't need to re-root it (what's the "optimized" part in your build? )
- if I take GB Sense 3.0 then I have a "brand new" rooted? DHD and I can go back to the rom i currently have.
any recommendations?
If u flash 2.50 via ruu it'll remove custom recovery & rooting. U'll still get OTA with it.
If u flash a pre-rooted / optimized 2.50 build, ur custom recovery will remain & u'll get OTA..
If u flash GB Sense 3.0 since it is a leaked version so i don't think any chances of OTA, however u can flash any rom u want..

Going to send you a PM
THANKS !!
Tried to answer to your PM with "quick reply" but i can't find the sent messages anywhere, did you get them ?
Thanks for all your help - i think we can close this thread now
i'm currently running Hensemod and have CWM installed. But the phone is so laggy and its unbareable....
Can i simply install the latest EU RUU to restore my phone back to its original state?
If i do this will it then remove CWM? or will this cause my phone to brick?
I just want to put it back to factory standard and then maybe look at other roms later down the line
Many thanks

He's asked valid questions after.
i would also like to know if this is possible, to downgrade from the htcdev bootloader and radio as well.
Yes you can install an ruu but you will probably need to create a goldcard.
It wont brick your phone and it will remove clockwork mod recovery but you can flash that again
Not sure if it will downgrade hboot.
I could not install any RUU files after unlocking the bootloader so i decided to build a standard version of the latest HTC_Europe 2.3.5. I hated the lockscreen rings on the modded versions so i removed the rings and used the earlier version lockscreen with the slide unlock.
I just flash it through CWM in recovery mode and its been working great, its not rooted its stock.I dont have enough posts to direct link but here is the un-direct link if you would like to try it. w w w . mediafire . com /?33r6ccpcxbmcspp

i have a t-mobile version of htc one m8 but when flashing ROMs , i flash international version of the ROM which i'm flashing. The phone is sim-unlocked.
Lately i'm having problem of my phone getting stuck on boot and only way out is wipe cache and dalvik on every time i reboot. And also GPS is not working (tried every fix but no avail) I'm guessing his is some firmware problem.
So the thing is I want to get back to Android 4.4.4 version ( on which it was earlier before i flashed any Lollipop rom , so that i could flash T-mobile's OTA to Lollipop back ( for firmware update ) and after reading and some research , i have understood that i have to be stock recovery and relock the bootloader and get T-mobile RUU ( very confused about RUU thing)
Could someone confirm if this is the correct procedure and explain what steps i need to follow IN ORDER to get this done ( and if links to corresponding guides i will be really helpful) .
I AM S-ON.
Hboot - 3.19
Radio - 1.22.213311491.08G
Please help , really frustrated by these issues and apparently previous threads of mine have gone unanswered.
Unfortunately, if you want to revert to KK (or any older version), you will have to be S-off to do so. So, pay the $25, get S-off (which will helpfully unlock your bootloader at the same time), run T-Mobile RUU for desired version.
However, even if you are S-on, you should be able to use a current or newer RUU to get the firmware up to date, then move on to installing the ROM of your choice. You are probably better off going to the latest firmware and running an alternate ROM, but that's just me.

So if i were to follow S-on steps , i will have to first flash stock recovery , relock bootloader and run t-mobile RUU for firmware upgrade ?
When i relock bootloader everything will be wiped , right ?
So i connect my phone to pc with relocked bootloader and stock recovery and run t-mobile latest RUU on windows ?
Is this the correct procedure?

That is all true; except you do not need to install stock recovery to RUU.
Stock recovery is only needed to OTA, not for RUU.
