The fastest option would be an overclocked cyanogen, it's fast, good battery and no bloat, but yet there are some bugs left, take a look at it your self
Swyped from my HTC Desire S

[q] should I wait for official ICS or flash a XDA ROM?

Hi
I own an Arc S Lt18A with 2.3 android, should I wait for official ICS or flash one of those custom roms out there?
I know from my experince with x10 mini, that XDA roms are way better than stock roms, is that similar with arc s roms?
If you think I should flash a xda rom which one is the best? and which kernel?
thanks guys
What to wait ? It's already here.
not for my version.. anyway what is better custom xda rom or official ICS?

You can still flash the official ICS rom/firmware (just grab the generic global world).
The worst thing that'll happen, is that you'll lose the bloatware your ISP added
And as for the official/custom discussion, I agree with xMimyx.
Just read the information supplied with the various custom roms and decide for yourself wether or not it's better than the official

I'd say flash the latest, official version. That's what I did and it works really well. I did that after working my way through a few different threads on here, and having to educate myself once or twice along the way. It wasn't perfectly easy, it wasn't as hard as it looked, and it was worthwhile.
So I'll say that's the best and other people might say different, but it doesn't look like they're willing too. The general attitude on here is "Do it yourself." These forums are fantastic in the amount of knowledge available, but many of the experts are so knowledgeable that they don't fully understand how difficult and overwhelming it is for those of us who don't immerse ourselves in Android.. and just want a phone that works well.
xmooded
try xmooded rom,i have tested both official rom (4.0.4) and lots of custom roms, test this rom

so, in your opinion, is it the best rom out there?
and really thanks guys for your help, I think I will download the generic global world version.

In my honest own opinion ..
so far the best dicission as a beginning ..
To keep yo on the line
there is MooDeD , Arconium , Miui , and Cyanogenmod ..
also Team Xperia's Roms are Amazing ..
the most supported , most famour and most stable as custom roms ..
If you would try custom roms try all of them then decide which to stay with ...

If you're planning on ICS rom your best bet would be Arconium 4.0 and trinity kernel for speed, this is the best combination I have found. If you want to stay on gingerbread the best rom I have found is Mokee OS, So fast and fluid and brilliant UI.
yeh im planning on going to ICS, right now i have CM7.2 on GB thanks man

Totally wrong combination
Sent from my LT15i using Tapatalk 2
I have tried all the available kernels and i always go back to stock kernel
it is the best kernel if you dont overclock and yea arconium 4.0 is the best
so i can use arconium 4.0 with stock kernel? since i dont overclock, but do i have to download the stock kernel or?
ofcourse u can use stock kernel with arconium..btr use stock kernel with cwm..
this might sound like a bad question but, is their a certain type of stock kernel for arconium 4.0? and if so could i have link for that stock kernel
here it is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680793

How is it a totally wrong combination? It is compatible in every way, there are many far worse combinations. I was merely stating that this is what I believe is the fastest ICS combination. It is my personal opinion, and to be honest your comment was totally pointless and of no help whatsoever.
thanks man

[Q] ROM switching

Hi guys, just wantd to knw wether we can use ROM Manager to switch betwn ROMs ,the way it can be done on phones like the nexus one
AFAIK you can as long as you don't need to change kernels.

Different ROMs use different kernels. Check the ROM development thread for the list of compatible kernels for that certain ROM. And it's not necessary to use ROM Manager to switch ROMs, a kernel with CWM is good enough.

AFAIK trinity rom had stopped development. I personal recommend you to flash existenz rom. It is based on official jb 4.1 so it is the most stable rom for now. In performance part, it is very smooth with doomkernel installed and if you wan to tweak for more smooth experience, crossbreeder+v6supercharger is recommend. i am using these tweaks and now my phone is flying
1. These kind of topics are against the rules
2. Paranoid android by deedwar is the stableist at the moment

The phone gets hot very quickly. I am waiting for help to flash this kernel because the carbon kernel is overclocked to 1.89 GHz.
