I'm trying to flash my Xperia Play using Flashtool, however I'm not sure where I get the Xperia Play drivers from, as in device manager the phone isn't recognised and it just says 'S1 Boot Download'.
I have had it working before, but I can't remember what I did.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
S1 boot is fastboot, you dont use flashtool from fastboot, flashtool drivers strangely enough are in the drivers folder.

I installed these drivers if I remember correctly View attachment x86.rar
This is a 32 bit version, tell me if you need the 64 one

I tried those in the attachment but flashtool still isn't working... It just keeps saying flash failed... I don't think they're the right drivers. :/

Are you in flash mode? (Green light; power off, hold back button and plug it in)
Yep... It's worked fine before, but I used a different set of drivers someone from this forum posted up... But I cannot find his post.

Have a Xperia Play and have been trying to root for the past week now!
I have used at least 7 different programs but none of them work.
Im afraid the problem is i cant get into fastboot mode and my blue light wont turn on.
If thats the problem is there a way to fix it?
And if its not what is the problem and can i fix it?

Wait if you are just rooting you don't need to do that. What model is your phone?
Check if your bootloader isn't locked and you have unlock it first.
Rooting methods like Zerg rush not working on 2.3.4 software.

Thanks, but i havent figured out exactly what my bootloader is.
I have the Xperia PLAY R800x and gingerbread 2.3.3.

Yeah i got an update from the Sony Update Service.
You have to flash a previous firmware, since November 2011 update, zergRush xploit doesn't work

What I would do is flash back but at first check if your fastboot is actually not working.
Turn off the device and check it, take out the battery and put it back in then hold search button and plug in usb if you have a blue light then fastboot is ok.
You also need Android ADB drivers which you need to have the Android SDK to get them or if you have flashtool there is a drivers folder which is the simplest method to install ADB bridge.
Then using flashtool (if it worked) flashed the DoomLord Kernel, if it says you have no permission to do so then you need to unlock your bootloader.

Ok I will most defenetly install the adb drivers once I know where to get them. How do I know if I have the android sdk?
I have the flashtool but when I downloaded it it came with 3 programs and no folders.
Can you give me the link to the folders or to the flashtool that has the folders with it when you install it?
I also need the link to the doom kernel which I might have and instructions on how to flash it.

You should first download flashtool. Then use flashtool to flash the verizon firmware. I will provide a link. Then enter flashmode by turning your phone off completely. Hold the back button, and plug the usb in the computer and then into the phone while still holding the back button. A green light should appear on the top. Then flash the firmware and there. Then use superoneclick to root

Luckily you have flashtool so you do not need the Android Sdk. There should be a drivers folder in your flashtool and an executable inside that will install like a normal program. This contains all the drivers you will ever need.
On every time it installs one it will prompt you to install or not install jusf click install and you will be asked this about 20 times for each driver.

If I remember correctly, the xperia play 4g was R800at and not R800x. Well anyway you have to download the firmware for your phone. Then place it in the firmware folder inside the flashtool folder. This should be the correct firmware for your phone. http://www.mediafire.com/?qqvtl484nlz3gq0 just place the ftf in the firmware folder. Start flashtool, click flash, then choose flashmode. Select the firmware. There should be instructions on how to plug in your phone and there it should flash.

From the original thread on Flash and Root ICS, there were 2 links, one for Flashtool 0.9.0.0 and one for Flashtool Update 2012 Xperia.. The update is just an update, not the entire tool. All you need is the Flashtool 0.9.0.0 is has the updated 2012 xperia files already. I think the second link is for those that already have Flashtool to update it with the most recent xperia files.
That is correct. One is for the full install and other is for updating.
Weird i used .080 and didnt update and it worked fine first try

Drop the FTF right in the Flashtool window, check your options and OK. Flashtool is going to ask you to disconnect your phone and put in flashmode again anyway, so no need to do that before hand.
when i plug my phone in nothing happens nothing starts and i don't know what to start. no flashtool windows nothing. is there something i should have open on my computer?

Hi, today i installed a custom rom, this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836993. I followed instructions described there, after installing and rebooting nothing happens except for sony logo. My pc doesn't even see the device after i plugged the usb cable. Can someone help me?
You are stuck in bootloader you either need to install kernel mentioned in thread or reflash the Rom either by using pccompanion or use flashtools and download the according ftf file found in general stickies.
You could ask in that thread where you got Rom from.

Is your boot loader unlocked? If yes, then you should be able to connect your phone in fastboot and flash a custom kernel so that you can access cwm and flash a rom from your internal storage.
If your boot loader isn't unlocked, then download Sony's official software called Sony Update Service and do a re-install of the phone's software. Installing SUS should take care of all the driver problems too.

thanks for ur help, problem solved.
Hey guys, so I'm trying to root my phone but I can't vet it going. I was able to unlock my boot loader using flashtool, so I know my computer has the proper drivers and what not.
The issue happens when I try to flash the kernel and recovery. I plug my phone, start the fastboot flash boot boot.img but then it gets stuck on "waiting for device."
Does any one have any tips or maybe has an idea on how to get this **** to work? THANKS!!
