[Q] home launcher and app drawer - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys after playing a game for example for about two mins or sometimes when going through application settings when I press home or attempt to go back to home screen I get this huge lag whereby the dock will disappear and reappear. Then when I open the app drawer from the alphabetical setting it changes to own order. I have to keep setting it back to alphabetical (selecting it twice before setting changes back).
If there are any details required please inform me.
I will be grateful for any help
Thanks and regards
Edit: also happened just now when tapatalk force closed

i think you have the same problem that i had.
i bet ur using a task killer right ?
ur home is killed by the task killer,
and then the home restart again, and thats why u have to sort it again and the dock reappeared,
what u have to do is just open the task killer,
and then press and hold the home app,
and ignore the home from being killed (add the home app to ignore list)
if this help please press thanks

Can nobody help regarding this issue of launcher and app drawer? It just happened again after I reinstalled firmware via seus and I have less apps installed. Before I had 70 now I only have like 25-30

if I'm correct, your default home app always restart because you have too many apps

If you have rooted your device try V6 Supercharger. It helps in fixing redrawing launcher.

You don't need Bootloader unlocked, just root is needed.

Sorry for noob question, What is V6 Supercharger exactly ?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
It makes your phone FAST... super snappy with better multitasking!
It rearranges and fixes the OOM Groupings and Priorites and lowmemorykiller values.
So basically, it's a COMPLETE MEMORY MANAGEMENT FIX!
It's the ONLY one of it's kind
NO LAUNCHER REDRAWS, faster than ever, multitasking is better... why?
Because it works with the lowmemorykiller and letting it work the way it's meant to work.
Also, because of the rearrangement, it works the same on all roms!
The problem with using minfree tweakers like AMM or AKMO is that it doesn't work the same on all roms.
Secondary apps may be in slot 3 on some roms but in slot 5 in others!
That's why you hear people comment "I tried AKMO but it didn't do anything..."
Most likely it didn't do anything because the apps weren't sitting where they were expected to be.
So fasten your seat belts and enjoy the ride!

First, let me link to my method of calibrating the battery without downtime so you can use your phone normally and do it whenever it's convenient.
It definitely works on Milestone and it seems to work on Droid.
I think that's a pretty good trick, anyway - it may even work on other phones
Before you start reading, just know that this is not difficult to implement... it's easy.
1. Download a script. 2. Load it. 3.Select what you want. EASY.
It works on ALL Android devices - Custom Roms or Stock Roms, Phones or Tablets, it doesn't matter!
Also Note: Nothing else does what The V6 SuperCharger does!
................Not AutoKiller Memory Optimizer, Not Auto Memory Manager, Not Minfree Manager...
................And NOTHING BEATS IT. PERIOD.
So... if somebody says to you that V6 SuperCharger does the same thing as [pick any app], tell them to first read about what they're talking about so that they can actually have an informed opinion.

When using app it will need to kind of pass the original lock screen and then go to widget locker or such ... it is kind of why it seems glitchy when you use one but if you flash one it works right away ... I just never liked the way widget locker did

Well, when you install an app, aren't you manually putting files on your phone?
More seriously, an app is just running on top of Android. It has to overide the current locksreen in the operating system and work around it. Otherwise, you're literally changing how the operating system works if you flash something like TSM parts.

perhaps you're right... regardless, every time I've played with it, it seemed laggy. on the Evo4G too.
certainly not new to "configuring" things. things being smoove/seamless is a priority in all of my configurations.
perhaps I'll give it another play today. been a few months since I used it on this phone. perhaps it's been updated...

If you use WidgetLocker, be sure to enable RootHelper in settings and HomeHelper, optionally, and watch the glitches go away. You'll never see your stock lockscreen again.
Another thing you can do, which I used to do on my Evo 4G and 3D (only if you're not using a lockscreen password) is disable the stock lockscreen, and then use ButtonRemapper to make the volume keys NOT wake the phone. That way you 100% will NEVER see your stock lockscreen. When WidgetLocker tells you in the instructions that it's impossible to disable the stock lockscreen and not have all buttons wake the phone, it's bs. For some reason ButtonRemapper doesn't display keys correctly on the GSII, but I think there's a separate GS version that works fine. You can get it on XDA for free.

A boot loop? I can't explain that. The worst thing to happen is that the NavBar dissappears. But a bootloop? Hmm. You can try again, this time just try to apply the "backup" if you run into a bootloop again, I think I know what the problem is...

Did the preview in the top section change to the ones you selected after the half reboot?
Edit: I can now look at the screens and since the top section does not show the softkeys currently used, the ROM you are using is not using the normally used png files and/or you got a theme applied, that changes the Softbuttons.

Well, that's more a thing of your ROM or Theme, and a power button is not aosp, that means the feature would probably not work on most devices.

Wow... interesting Lag fix

.. i deleted swiftkey..
i came across this randomly on a thread on the Q&A section when i told someone that typing on my swiftkey is laggy and a PITA....
He deleted swiftkey and reported the whole phone working much better and faster, even when not using the keyboard. I couldnt believe it and tried the same, and i can confirm this as well...
All i wanna know is why?!?! and this sucks because i liveeee using swiftkey!

pull on the left side of the screen, press spam, press the menu button(three dots on the top right), press empty spam, press delete..
why cant pull to refresh actually PULL to refresh? it looks kinda odd with this implementation.
Maybe they don't want to copy every iOS app, but quite honestly it's one of the most beautiful/useful features of iOS. The Twitter app does it wonderfully for example.

do you mean swiping down on it like now, as opposed to actually pulling it down???

Yeah I prefer pulling versus just swiping. I end up swiping a few times because I don't even realize it is updating already. I have to actually look for the text changing at the top action bar.
The only thing I don't like about the update is that there's no sexy tablet mode.

[GUIDE] 220 Elements Safe to Freeze in Titanium Backup 4.4.2 NE6

Root and "Titanium Backup" are needed to disable most of those.
This is how i run my Note on Stock ROM, those are the things i do not use, frees me like half a GB a RAM, saves battery and makes my phone snappier.
Please dont be dumb, if you use Calculator, dont freeze it... and more important, if you dont have another keyboard app installed, please do not freeze "Samsung Keyboard" lol use common sence please.
Those elements are safe to freeze, do not delete em, is diferend, some things are needed present when phone boots or it might get stuck in bootloop, but you can freeze all that, just leave whatever you use.
If you are just freezing, there is nothing that can be messed up, if you see something isnt working right of the apps you are using, just go and enable it back in TB.
Here is the list, 20 screenshots of the "FROZEN" list in Titanium Backup, "YouTube" is the 220th i didnt want to crop/upload a whole screenshot for just 1 element, i watch youtube on the browser.. dont see any use of the app:

This is how my RAM looks right after my phone boots:
2GB of free RAM ! ask the guys on stock ROM Galaxy S5s how they feel lol, without debloat they are like 1.3GB / 1.8GB

Only if you have nothing to use it for, like you
im showing theres a lot of RAM to be filled with usefull programs you use instead bloatware, as then everything would open much snappier and save battery, or if its filled half way with bloatware already Android will start closing your oldest open apps automaticly when there isnt enough RAM for all apps that are running...
and bloatware aways runs, so itll be the apps you installed to be closed..
Hope you get it
that is extreme Freeze tho, im just showing what CAN be frozen, so people arent afraid to do so when they wan to stop an element..
Nice
Thanks!!!

you use diferend email account than gmail? did you freeze "Email" or "Exchange" ?
Gmail should not give you any problems with the above 220 elements frozen, i never used the other build in email app, so i cant be sure.

It should not be, ive done this with many phones few years back, this is mainly samsung bloatware, google services that i dont need i know they run whenever they want in the background, all the widgets, fonts, wallpapers you wont use so no need them been loaded in RAM, and some apps that arent OS effective..
still, unfreeze everything, and see if something that was frozen was your problem...
