Please help,
I have a rooted r800x with locked BL. I was using titanium backup to backup and freeze apps, well i froze vznavigator and the phone restarted and now it wont boot, it gets to the boot animation but just restarts.. Please help
Not sure how to fix that if you don't get into the launcher. I guess you could always reflash any android version with the FlashTool if no one else can chim in here to help you. You would lose your setup and and start fresh. Better than not being able to boot the phone anyway.
Sorry I can't be of more assistance.
Since you're locked, you could maybe try to force a re-install with the SEUS program?
How would i use SEUS tool, or FlashTool? is there a tutorial or anything?
FlashTool:

Here's how to use FlashTool:

-----------------------
And the file you would want to flash to make a full system restore to stock is found in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201725
The file you want to download is "Full system FTF":

Thank you dannejanne. Im downloading them now.
No problem. Hope it works out for you. Let me know.
And in the future be careful what you freeze/uninstall with titanium backup! Go to this thread for reference as to what you can freeze without encountering issues:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207407
It worked perfectly.
And trust me i will,
Thanks again
Yay! Glad I could be of assistance.

I am new to this rooting stuff
I boot unlocked and rooted my Xperia play i flasht with a kernel and then it stucks on the Sony Ericsson logo. what to do?
Well you could try reflashing the kernel, but we need a little more information on what exactly happened leading up to it. Another option is just to use flashtool to reflash your phone. If you havent used flashtool before you can use this tutorial:
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/tutorial-how-to-flash-a-firmware-using-flashtool-on-xperia-arc/
Just keep in mind thats for the arc, the steps are the same, you just need to grab a .ftf thats made for the Play. You can find those in the dev section.
*EDIT* Make sure to uncheck "clear user data" unless you have everything backed up. Its generally a good idea to clear user data on a new flash but I'd hate for you to lose your data if its not backed up
I fixed it on my own way. But i will give you a thanks anyway
So I found a custom ROM that would work on the R800x. Its DarkForest ROM, I flashed it and it said it installed successfully. I rebooted it and it sat at the Sony Ericsson screen and didn't move. So I did a battery pull and tried again, still nothing. I then tried to get it back into ClockWorkMod recovery and it won't go anywhere except the SE screen. Can someone please help me because I need my phone
If you need more information let me know and I will post it.
Your phone is bricked. Use flashtool, pc companion or seus to fix it.
I never installed that Rom, but you may need to factory reset or wipe cache in some roms after installing. If it isnt that you may be on wrong baseband or kernel and if not that you would need flashtool to go back & flash another firmware. Good luck.
Ios suckkss.
i dont have any help to offer, but were you able to get a functional backup of the stock rom working? i know pc companion can always fix it as long as it can see the phone, but i wanna keep all my apps and stuff if i decide to do anything like a new rom/kernel and gotta go back. i cant figure out how to boot into clockwork mod even tho i have the Xperia CWM Auto-Installer installed and it said it was successful (i uninstalled the app after. should i have left it?) and rom manager (after leaping through hoops getting it to even allow me to try) just reboots with no recoveries available when i try to make one. i know, more work for you, but you can get far enough to flash roms, so i was hoping you could tell me what i need to do?
UPDATE: finally got CWM to work! lol. it wouldnt work til i used the volume buttons. lol. im gonna keep several copies of my current rom just in case. lol. sorry.
This will happen to you for not unlocking your bootloader if u didn't. Thia happenes.to.me once and.I.reflashed the verizon. Tft fike with flashtool. I will reply with a better explaination later

I am in the process downgrading my Tmobile G2.
I got the # , ok
I got the version changed, ok
I got the temp root (maybe).
But once I got the temp root and trying to backup.
The apps says I don't have root access.
It means after I pushed busybox ,etc ,ect. I click the backup apps, the backup apps say good to go. But even I reload the apps the 2nd time. It will show I don't have root access.
But I still have the # sign.
I checked the forum as someone else had the same problem, but I did not find the answer.
Does anyone have some suggestion?
Thanks
be sure to disable the fastboot option. turn your phone off, pull the battery and leave it like this for a minute... then start again

I got the same trouble with my Desire Z. You can see my question near the the week ago. And advice was the same, but it didn't help. I think temporary root was honest but may be backup application managed to destroy some reserved memory for root, i don't know. I couldn't to backup system either MyBackup Pro or Titanium.
So I can't rooting my phone.
I will very glad if anybody help me and you.
sure you can root your phone. if the backup doesn´t work just skip it.
"If you have nothing to back up or don't care to back anything up, proceed to the next section." (...from the guide)
I agree

After rooting when I tried to backup the stock rom even I got some errors.
"Can't mount..some something"
Googled for it a lot and most of them indirectly said the phone might be bricked. Since I had nothing else to do I continued with the next step i.e. installing custom rom (cynogemod in my case) and everything turned out fine.
I am not recommending that you skip the backup process, if you can find anything then surely take a backup else skip it and continue.

I afraid that skipping backup procedure before rooting is not a better advice.
I've bought my device over a year ago and now it has a lot of useful app and files. I usually use MyBackupPro to store non-system data without rooting.
However, it seems to me that's not enough, or am I wrong?
I think that after the rooting and replacement of the firmware I get a new, empty device without my usual things.
Is it enough or not after rooting to restore only the non-system data to continue to use the device as before plus root ?
Thanks.
yes =) just backup your apps and restore afterwards... you wont loose any sdcard content while rooting (except for goldcard). sure you can´t backup system apps, but this doesn´t make sense anyway because they wont work with your new rom
backup while rooting could be important for warranty issues... but actually isn´t really cause you can use a wwe ruu.
I made a real dumb mistake just now and hoping there is a way out of this. I was in titanium back up after updating to 4.0.4 GSM and decided it would be a good idea to use the integration of updates to rom option, one of the apps was phone or contacts or something like that and it was the first app to be processed and it appeared to be stuck not doing anything, so I made the real bad mistake of force closing titanium backup. Now I don't have signal, my baseband is unknown. I tried restoring all system apps and tried to flash the 4.0.4 update which gave me a status 7 error.
I was hoping there might be a way to fix this without opening my boot loader and having transfer all my stuff to PC which is painfully slow on my window xp PC. Then fast booting the full factory 4.0.4 and set up literally everything again.
Please advice...

you'll have to unlock your bootloader to fix this. its inevitable. after you get it up and running, you can relock it if you wish to do so.
TIP: you NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER want to restore system app data. it is calling for bad news.

I honestly don't have any ideas for you. There are so many things that may have messed up.
If you want, I can give you a link to the /system dump that I made for adrynalyne, and you can boot into CWM and try to copy all those files overtop of the files currently in your system and see if that will work. But my suggestion would be to unlock your bootloader and flash a fresh image...

Pretty much would be the best and easiest way of resolving all of this. Unlock bootloader, fastboot flash stock google images. And relock your bootloader (if you desire... I see no purpose of relocking it) and be on your way.
Thanks guys didnt think I could do it without unlocking my boot loader. Here's to spending all tomorrow morning on the PC and getting in the neck from gf who is meant to be phoning me in the am!
Will fresh flash entire 4.0.4 rom in the morning as its 2.45 am UK time now, got alarm set for 7.30, just hope I can fix it before going to work! Thanks again guys

Easiest way is to do this:
1) Plug your device into your computer and open a command prompt in the same directory as your adb.exe file
2) Get all your data off your device by typing: adb pull /sdcard
3) Follow this guide for a fresh yakju IMM76D install.
phone fixed now finally. In the end i went back to 4.0.2 as i had it on my pc flashed that then rooted it and then moved 4.0.4 back on to my phone and used stock recovery to flash it and then booted into cwm and flashed su.zip. Now to just put all my stuff back onto my phone...
Hi all,
I ran into an issue while trying to root my Samsung Galaxy S III. I used a tutorial from Max Lee on Youtube (can't post link) to help me get through the process . There was a step that used Titanium Backup to check if you rooted your phone correctly. However when I downloaded Titanium Backup and tried to open it, I didn't see the superSU request window like it appeared in the tutorial. It was stuck on "asking for root rights..." I decided to reinstall Titanium Backup to see if it would help. After uninstalling it, I realized my Play Store would not load anything. I looked at some other apps and they wouldn't load either (Gmail, Hangouts, some games, etc). I tried logging out and back into my Google account but that didn't work either. A lot of my apps aren't working after attempting to root my phone and I'm not sure what the issue is.
I'm new to this sort of stuff and I couldn't really find an answer for my problem (at least not that I could find on Google). Sorry if this has been asked already! Could anyone tell me what I could do to get my phone back to it's original state at least? I'm kind of afraid to try and root again if I do get a fix for this. Also, factory reset is going to be my last option ;_;.
Samsung Galaxy S III SGH-T999 running Android version 4.1.2
Thanks!
If you can, back up your internal sdcard data. It's very likely you may have to do a factory reset which can erase it.
(BTW, when you get it going again, consider using the free unlock method in the General section. Once you update you can't do it free anymore)
OK, so first, only use what info you find in the T999 forums. Everything you need is here and it's hard to help fix things caused by info gained elsewhere.
Do you have a custom recovery installed? (Twrp or cwm) if so boot recovery and factory reset. This will wipe all apps and data (except internal sd...at least it shouldnt). With luck, this is all you need to do. Reboot and hopefully it'll be working so you can reinstall your stuff. If you have stock recovery, still do this, but it WILL wipe ALL user data).
If that doesn't work, the easiest and most reliable next step is to flash your current firmware build via Odin, and factory reset from settings or stock recovery. (wipes all data).
Then you can unlock and update if you so choose. You can find your firmware and instructions in my firmware thread stickied in the development section. (You'll probably want to use the root66 versions)
If you have any questions feel free to ask. Better safe than sorry. But keep in mind just about everything you could possibly need or want to know has been covered, so don't forget to search for your answers first.
If you still want root after all that, we have several extremely easy options.
Good luck!
