I have never been able to get Doom Kernel to work on the Stock ROM. I was using Doom Kernel v3 on a custom ROM but have gone back to Stock ROM. Is there a Doom Kernel compatible with Stock ROM? I am on Verizon R800x 2.3.3 with unlocked bootloader and root.

Sony refuse to publish kernel source for R800x, Until they do you will never have a fully working custom kernel for stock rom!
AndroHero thank you for the tip. I forgot that the kernel source for R800x has not been released. I am fairly confident its not SE faults but most likely Verizon being the stupid dummies

No probs But i still don't get why you guys let verizon treat you like they do
oh trust me I have voiced my opinion on Verizon forums, but I doubt they pay much attention to our gripes. Take Motorola for example my first 2 android phones were Motorola and by the second phone I hated them for their locked BL and their horrid MotoBlurp. SE is a hell of a lot better, love them compared to Moto especially when they helped CyanogenMod with getting the rom on their phones and then of course the "bloatware beingremoved from their phones". The kernel not being released for 2.3.3 may be Verizons issue but at least I can unlock the bootloader and throw in custom kernels if I want. Something I could never do on my old phones. But your right I have some issues with Verizon not letting people use their phones the way THEY want to considering I sold my moto phone to buy my Xplay outright for $200 US dollars. So yes I am much happier with SE but do hate the kernel not being released. Hopefully someone will leak it out or figure out how to extract / convert it from the 2.3.3 download files in the system folder. Sorry for the long thread. The loss of no kernel release is a small cry in an otherwise great device, I have never regretted this device.
Just heard from a friend he works for Verizon in their corporate division and he told me 2.3.4 update should be released soon. Course he told me not to hold it to him.... so I wont believe it till I see it.... (cough)
So which is the best doom kernal test 1 or test 2 1.ghz or 2ghz ? whats the most stable one with no problems.
I heard hat v2 is the one to use. Heard that the v1 is having issues.

v01 doesn't boot at all. v02 works fine. If 2ghz works fine then go ahead and use it. the 1.6ghz is just there in case your phone can't use frequencies that high
if i take the 2ghz one cant i just clock the speed down from cpu program to 1.6ghz

No, because it's the boot sequence that is at that frequency. Once it's booted, it goes back down to 1ghz (pretty sure)

Hi Guys,
Just getting a grip on this Xperia Play, fantastic handset.
I am on the new stock firmware v4 (xloud) and I have flashed doomlords V02-FIX kernel.. overclock etc seems to be working fine.
Could someone tell me if its ok to flash the CM7 FXP025 and if no good/don't like can I safely get back to the stock rom by recovering using CWM recovery backup?
Sorry if it sounds a bit noobish I am not the brightest bulb in the box
Thanks
CM7 will only work with the provided kernel within the CM7 posts. It will not work with doomlords kernel (i've tried) lol

I wonder why that is btw

It's because doomkernel is made from the Sony Ericcson kernel source code. This is totaly incompatible with the source used for the CM kernels. You have to understand that CM7 is an aosp build. Built from the ground up, they are unable and unwilling to use any proprietary code. Thats why bug hunting usually takes longer than stock roms
I am actually fairly pleased with the stock rom, after root the r800x is so much better with the crap gone. I am actually hoping that there is a stock kernel availble with CWM and able to OC. thanks in advance
dumb question?

stock kernel with o/c isn't a dumb question. But wanting CWM too is
I think it would be easier just to make an o/c module.
the only reason I asked because before this I had a htc incredible and I had a rom that was stock and I could oc it too, that phone had such bad battery life when I got this one I rooted/unlocked it and saw that overall dev is still in the early stages and I was happy with the phones performance so I thought maybe I would ask.
Stock kernel with CWM is possible (I think, 70%). Just please send me CDMA kernel.sin

Well, you see that I'm busy with unlocking phones. I'm modifying touchscreen driver too and it's delaying the release.

As new comer, so this stupid? question comes to general
Is it possible to make ultimate kernel that work on any ROM stage???
(GB, ICS, CM 10.1)
I mean that we can switch easilly between all ROM in SD card
Lupus has done with it, but miss CM10.1 one :silly:

No, it is not.
nAa kernel works on CM10;CM10.1, and should also on CM9

Try including the ramdisks of each android version by extracting boot.imgs and then try. But the process is really hard and u may also need to prepare a new zImage...

Itcan be done but with various patches in ramdisk (but not everything woring 100%). I had a kernel on my PLAY for GB ICS and JB but compared to say a GB specific kernel or ICS specific kernel performance decreased.
So to anwser the OP's question. Yes its possible but using a specific kernel for that specific android is much better.

Can you make a kernel that runs stock ICS and cm10 job at least.. You did this type of kernels for us lupus jb that runs cm10 & 10.1 and lupus GB & ICS kernel ... Just requesting it would be better to have such working kernel

I could but WiFi wont work and not sure about anything else. I will not attempt to do anything like this without a mogami device without owning one. I was meant to be getting one soon but donator moved to a new device and unfortunately sold his old device to family member instead
Hard to hear those words but I'm happy with your kernels... Without owning mogami device you did tremendous job for us .. hands off
is it possible to do this on the Xperia Arc S?
I mean stock roms of sony of course, no need for custom roms.
is this done by booting from the SD card?
Thanks for the support!
It's not possible to do so. Booting can be done from the SD Card but both firmwares use different kernels, so unless you can make GB run on an ICS kernel it will be nigh impossible to do it, not to mention the time needed to make it happen.

But why do you insist on using GB? Most JB and KK ROMs are stable enough for daily use, and some ICS ROMs to a certain extent.

If I am not mistaken, LuPuS ICS kernel can boot both GB and ICS.

Is there a way to dual boot both then with that kernel? A guide by someone who did it maybe?

I am not familiar with that, you can try looking around on the forum. If there isn't anything, then no one has tried yet. I don't know myself, how it is supposed to work.

well it needs some work to make that thing possible on lupus gb/ics
you need to make a muflti boot kernel using cosmicdan source and some thing from here and there and using lupus gb/ics as your zimage
im not familiar with kernel things but im sure that it's easier than before because of turbo kernel (the hard thing is finished before)
also you can port turbo kernel to arc
that is alittle easier because comsicdan has done some of the optimizations for arc before
but in turbo kernel gb support in not finished but you can test your apps with it atleast

Not work, project canceled but ask @wedgess
Hey guyz, is there any kernel which works for both ics and gb.
There was a lupus version long time ago, but I don't remember the version. If any body know please post here.
Thanks
If I remember correctly, newest ICS Lupus (v15 or v16) can boot both ICS and GB.

I don't have the phone at hand right now, being used as temporary backup phone by a relative.
Just try it yourself. You can't really mess up anything. ICS boots definitely on that kernel, GB should, but if it doesn't, you can just flash another kernel/ROM or even stock firmware.

The thing is m not having PC availability, I have to request to my faculty for system access but only for 5-10 mins. So I can't test in that time, cause I can't stay to ics cause of its performance for long time. otherwise I wouldn't have posted this thread if I had PC.
Btw thanks mate.

Seems to be lupus v14. In the sticky thread for roms/root/kernels/mods etc. in arc development section (post 3, gb kernels) it's mentioned. I looked into lupus thread and in the changelog for older releases you see v14 that should boot up on ics, cm9 and gb. But I didn't test it myself
Cheers!
Lupus is ics+gb kernel (latest version) u can use both of the firmware and its based roms with this kernel.[emoji3]
So i confirm here that lupus is two in one kernel. Thanks for your response guys.
