Ok two things i dont get and why i wont update yet is....
1 Whats psXperia? is it when i slide out the game pad and it autostarts? is that psXperia?
2 If it is why on earth would se pass an update that would render the plays main feature unplayable???
PsXperia is an emulator which can convert psx Roms into apk/zpak format so that you can play psx Roms on your play.. however, SE patched the loophole in 2.3.4..

But FPse supports many file types, does PsXperia run games that FPse doesnt??
Go google a bit =) the onboard playstation is something made by sony themselves, obviously would be a much better emulator.. if u google it, you would find the comparison between the graphics of two emulators, PsXperia looks much nicer

There's plenty of threads discussing this topic. If you refuse to google use the search feature on this site. Browsing the xp dev section will also answer your questions.
Psxperia utilizes the analogs. Some games work some don't, trial and error bro.

I remember reading that this update breaks the native psx emulator, is it just this emulator or multiple emulators like Gameboid and whatnot. Or have I misunderstood the 'breaking' part and that it actually stops us from using games converted through PSXperia on PC?

Just reading through it, so all I do is download the US version of Crash, and repeat everything I do with V1 of PSXperia and bang I'm back to normal?
not sure that's what I think if it don't work you could downgrade fw
Typed with SwiftKey X for Xperia Play
Just reading through the PSXperia 2's thread and it sounds like I just need to change the UK Crash to the US one and I'm good to go. I've got the flash tool setup if I needed to downgrade back to 2.3.3 but by the looks of things I'm gonna be good to go.

You dont need to uninstall the UK one at all, just install the US one and look, you should have 2 crash bandicoots in the PSXperia Launcher, the crash icon without rounded edges is the US one and the rounded edges one is the UK one
you dont really need the two in your xplay
i just installed the us CB to get the zpak and then uninstalled it ...people said the conversions have a better chance of working this way(us bandicoot),and it works fine ... i was wondering if leaving the two there would better compatibility or not?
I came across this thread that hasn't been updated for over half a year but still applies.

No problem! I haven't looked into emulators since the mt4g days and I noticed a lot of emulators and apps to find ROMs went missing from the market. Searched and came across that goldmine. very informative and they all run smoothly, the fpse works pretty well too. only played ff9 and castlevania sotn on it so far.. buttons are kind of hard so gonna look into the sixaxis controller soon.
btw i recommend the capcom and neogeo emulator. AWESOME!
Where can I download roms for these emulators?
Edit: NM just read your whole post..
I cant figure how to make the emulator work. I've d/l some csp2 roms and can't figure how to play them. Can someone give me a quick tutorial?

you can always check the original thread.
what i do is simply download the ROM launch the emulator, search for the ROM and play.
you have to choose the actual full sized games, some are considered as "CLONES" and don't work properly. the games are usually bigger than 5mb, if one is about 1MB then i suggest finding another.. and i think the ones with the letter "u" at the end are also clones, not exactly sure.
so...
1. download rom
2. launch emulator
3. search for downloaded rom
4. insert coin and start!
From what I've read our stock rom will not allow us to use the sixaxis or wii controllers. There is a problem with the stock Samsung bluetooth stack. We can flash a CM or ASOP rom which will change the stack. However, that also removes MHL functionality as far as I know.
I'm currently using FPSE and playing some old Final Fantasy VII. Also have snesoid going.
Have you tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22260943

To be honest, you're better off paying for FPSE. I bought it today and even without my kernel being overclocked it runs smoothly. You'll be able to play the other Crash games as well
I paid £2.39 for FPSE and it was worth every penny

that was always an option, but I have some PSX games in my house that I want to covert to xperia play due to the fact I like the convience of them being there when I slide out my gamepad
Well I guess I'll use FPSE to see how it runs, Is there a free version that I could use to demo or only paid?
i might as well post my question since im taking space up for a game topic but i wanna play pokemon blue on my E4GT!!!!

Gameboid is an android gba emulator. Google it.
gameboid forcecloses to the rom selection screen on our device. well at least on gingerbread it does.
VGBA (search play store) works well for me...that said I hardly ever use it, as PlayStation 1 emulator (FPse) and the RPG's of my youth absorb 99% of the time i spend gaming of a cell phone....angry birds, meh, temple run? no thanks... I rock tales of destiny 2 , Final Fantasy 8, Star Ocean second story, etc in my free time...

No it doesn't, works flawlessly on my el29 (when I had it) and on ff18, my wife has the same phone el29 and it works great. I would recommend gameboid, it's the best one I found and tried several the play store and it's still the best. The apk might be hard to find so pm and I'll send you a dropbox link if you want.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Yeah, Gameboid is the way to go. And the apk shouldn't be that hard to find. Just google gameboid apk. For roms I would recommend coolrom.com, has a lot of good roms and they're easy to find.
critical strike doesn't work with xbox gamepad.
Hey Everyone
I have recently started developing my first ROM, it will be GB for maximum gaming performance on the Xperia PLAY - I may add support for more devices later on.. If i can lol - I am a newbie developer after all
I don't want to reveal too much about the ROM itself, but let's just say, I'm almost certain you'll like it.. Or at least try it
Basically, for one of the Add-ons, I will be including games in a zip that you can flash through CWM and I would like to know;
Which games would you like?
I will not be sharing any cracked versions of games however! I will only use games that are free to install anyway!
So, please comment and let me know
You should make a zip with all of best emulators. But for games I think its better for everyone yo just install what they want

Instead, u should add titanium backup so everyone can restore their own games.

That's what I was thinking, but I thought I would see what the majority of people said before making any decisions..
I will include the emulators though
About the emulators though; which are the best free ones? I haven't used emulators in quite a while
