No, the reason you're just getting that black screen is because you've wiped the phone's memory, so there's no ROM to load.
You just need to boot back into recovery and flash a ROM; either vol-down while powering on, or use adb.
//sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk; all errors entirely intentional.

when i press vol down and power nothing happens so your telling me that if i put in rom it will work how do you use adb can you explain the process. i factory reseted the phone surely it hasnt deleted my rom i had

You need to get hold of adb.exe - I'm on my phone so I can't check but I think it's included in the radio download in the first post of the ARHD thread (in the Dev section). Download that radio file on your computer and unzip/unrar it. Turn your phone off and connect it to your pc by usb. Using the command prompt on your PC, cd into the folder you extracted (which contains adb.exe) and run the following command:
adb reboot recovery
Your phone should boot into the recovery menu and you can reflash your ROM from there.
//sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk; all errors entirely intentional.

Or download the Android SDK. ADB is inside.
You can also search on google. It's easy to find.
You need the ADB driver, if you don't know how to do this, just install HTCSync. The driver will be installed.
Then follow the above good advice.
Very easy to do.
If you have no ROM on the SD, put the SD in a card reader and put a ROM on it (zip file format).
Try again to start the phone in recovery (hold volume and press power).
You've done just a small mistake. No worries

thanxs guy ill do that now ill go to the dev section and download adb.exe then ill run it on my pc and ill open command prompt then what how do i locate the file

As mentioned above, you could download the SDK but it's massive download compared to the 9MB file in the ARHD thread.
Download the radio rar file from mike1986's post and extract it somewhere (your desktop, your home folder, the root of your local drive, wherever you feel like sticking it). For demonstration purposes we'll say you've extracted all the files to C:\Radio
Open your command prompt and type
Code:
cd C:\Radio
to change directory (replace "C:\Radio" with the path to your extracted folder)
once you're in the folder, and still in the command prompt, type
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Your phone should then reboot to your CWM recovery menu.
EDIT: I've linked to mike's post, but I could just have easily have linked directly to the radio. You'll need 7zip (or winrar or winzip or whatever you kids are using these days) to extract the files.
EDIT2: As truc007 rightly points out, if you haven't already got HTCSync installed on your PC you'll most likely need to install that as well to get the correct HTC USB drivers. You can download that from HTC's site if necessary.

thanxs im on it great work so i get htc sync and my usb so i download the file exract it

Galaxy Gio Boot Loops With CPU Tuner

Hey guy im posting on behalf of a mate "Hi. A few days ago, I rooted my Galaxy Gio with an SD Card file that I downloaded (the file was something like Bell___.zip). It worked perfect until yesterday, when I downloaded an app called CPU Tuner from Google Play. After setting it to a battery-saving CPU, it started to lag my whole system. The screen froze and alot of applications forced close when I tried to open them. I decided to reboot my system, however after turning off my phone and taking out the battery (inserting after), it got stuck on the Galaxy Gio boot screen. I kept on trying to boot it, even wiping cache in recovery mode did not do anything. Is there any way I can fix this problem without having to factory reset? (And yes, my phone was fully charged)"
I own an Xperia Play so im clueless when it comes to the gio

1. Nandroid backup
2. Factory reset
3. Advanced restore data partition
Should work
Sent from my HTC Sensation
Back up data only from Recovery
Reflash Stock Rom or the current Rom you're using.
Will the data be lost? He runs the stock kernel, does it have that option?

If he has cwm installed, do what I said and he won't lose data.

Hi, I'm the mate that Zerosuit was posting on behalf of. I originally posted on gbatemp.net (gbatemp.net/topic/328585-galaxy-gio-wont-boot-after-rooting/), however they referred me here after being unable to solve my problem. I installed CWM via recovery mode and installed an update via the 'apply update from sd card' option. It failed to fix any problems, so I tried Odin. The people on GBAtemp say I used the right files (on page 4 of the GBAtemp thread), however now I can't even boot to recovery mode. A warning message appears when I try to boot and says something about going to recovery in Kies. Doesn't work. Only download mode. Kies doesn't work...Anyways, help please!

if you flash the stock recovery from a PC can you go onto recovery on the phone?
Maybe solution
Boot in recovery and connect your phone to your pc
On your phone click mounts&storage -> mount /data.
Download ADB from here: http://motyczko.pl/qtadb/windows_binaries.zip
Place it in a directory and open a command shell and cd to that directory(or go to the folder with adb.exe and hold shift while rightclicking and choose open command prompt here).
Now enter this command: 'adb shell'
You are now in the shell on your phone if the drivers are there(samsung kies needs to be installed)
Do 'cd /data/app' in the cmd, then 'ls'
Look for a apk file that looks like the overclocking app, if you found it do:
'rm <nameofoverclockapp>.apk'
Reboot your phone and have fun

Probably...The thing is, I'm not sure to exactly which files to download and where to put them (in Odin). If you could tell me that, I'm sure my problem would probably be solved...My Gio's a GT-S5660M, is on Virgin Mobile Canada...and it's stock firmware (in which it came with) was 2.3.4. So please help me ASAP!!!

That's not my problem anymore. I had installed CWM and then used it to boot Aroma Filemanager. With that, I had successfully uninstalled ch.amana.android.cputuner-1.apk (CPUTUNER). But it still won't boot. I tried to install stock rom with Odin and was unsure of which file went where. So now it won't even boot to recovery and only to download mode.
Now it can boot to recovery and even to the Samsung logo! But then it loops on and on. Maybe I should delete the boot.img from the rom and reflash? If not, immediate help needed..
Help again!
So I flashed my phone, and it finally boots. However, the mobile network state only stays activated for a short moment then it disconnects, making me unable to actually make phone calls and send text messages. Also, the wireless internet randomly switches off and doesn't turn back on unless I reboot it. And third but last, the screen sometimes blacks out even when the touch screen is still activated. Then the display either turns back on and even brighter (doesn't actually change the system settings brightness), or when I press the power button, it flickers and turns off (just as the whole system goes into standby mode when you press the power button). My phone was rooted before flashing and I rooted it once again. I just know this is all the troubles of flashing, rooting and my problem put together. So if anyone can help in anyway (I really don't want to send my phone in), please do.

Root Gone Wrong

Hi,
I have been trying to root my phone to install ARHD. I installed the boot.img file from the downloads section, installed ClockworkMOD, copied the ROM to the SD Card and unlocked the phone using HTCDEV.com.
However, now when the phone tries to boot, the lock screen appears, freezes then the phone reboots. Ican get into CWM Recovery but I can only see an Android folder, Lost.DIR folder and My Documents folder. I cannot see the ROM.
What can I do to get out of this Bootloop?
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
boot into recovery
install zip from sd card
choose your rom
install
viola
any of these steps that you not make? If you can follow through all these steps you should be good to go
good luck

Thanks for the quick Reply shadehh!
I can follow the instructions up to Install Zip from SDCard. When I choose that option I can only see the following directories:
Android/
LOST.DIR/
My Documents/
I've searched through all 3 directories and no sign of the ROM. I had originally copied it to a new folder call ROMS on the root of the SD-Card.

Ah this looks crappy, your phone i think is not in big **** just yet. Looks like you've got to find a way to push your rom into your phone and i think i just recalled something...
I know this is written in the One S section but i see no reason why this shouldn't work with the HoX
What this basically does is it lets you put a rom on your sdcard through CWM, this i hope helps you get back on track : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667929
try putting across again go in to recovery and mount the storage and drag and drop it over again see if that helps
adb will not detect the device as I cannot get into the operating system to turn on USB debugging
when I mount the SDCard, my PC still cannot see the drive so I cannot copy anything across.
Any other ideas?

install following packages:
Android SDK Tools

Also have you got HTC Sync installed?
EDIT: If this doesn't help then i'm clueless. Hope someone else can help you
Phone wont even charge now. Think my next stop is the nice man at the Vodafone shop.
If you have latest cwm 5.8.4.0 then you can charge in recovery. You can also mount your sdcard to put the ROM back on there in cwm
Go on mounts menu then choose mount USB storage then plug to PC.
It should appear in computer and you can copy back over

Thankseveryone for your assistance.
What I had to in the end was to flash stock recovery . This allowed me to then factory reset which got the phone up and running, albeit, in stock, but unlocked.
Now, do I bite the bullet and load a ROM on or be thankful that I dodged a bullet?:laugh:
Again, thank you all sooooooo much!!!!!

[Q] How to fix ROM after forgetting to backup and clear cache and cannot fastboot?

Hi guys,
I have an international HTC ONE X and I was impatient in trying to root and flash custom ROM for the first time.
I followed this instruction sheet:
http://onexroot.com/one-x-root/how-to-root-one-x/
And managed to unlock the bootloader and root device. Saw Super SU
Then, I tried to install CM10 ROM but I did forget to backup and wipe cache and data.
http://onexroot.com/one-x-roms/cm10-official-jelly-bean-rom-for-one-xatt-one-xone-xl-best-rom/
I went into bootloader->recover -> install from sd card -> cm10-official -> yes
Then the CM loading screen went on for like 10+ minutes straight so I thought something was off.
So after doing some panic googling, I installed Android SDK and ever since then, I cannot access fastboot via cmd
I then restarted it to bootloader and then did a backup now (late?)
I then looked up steps I missed and I think what I missed was
1. wipe cache and data
2. backup stock ROM
3 usd cmd -> fastboot -> boot image
Here are the steps I think I need to go about solving it:
1. Fastboot img of cm10 in cmd
2. wipe cache and data
3. Bootloader -> recovery -> install from sd -> cm10 -> yes
It gives me this error message:
fastboot.exe. system error
The program can't start because AdbWinApi.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
So I google'd up this error message and I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=781386
I tried the following solutions but I don't quite what to do.
1. Move adb.exe fastboot.exe and adbWinApi.dll to C:/Android
2. Install Daemon tools *(But I don't know what to do after installing it)
3. Uninstalling Android SDK
4. You need to add the directory containing the "AdbWinApi.dll" to Windows' path under Environment Variables, so Windows know where to look for the necessary files when you enter commands in the shell.
Can someone walk me through this? I am in a bit of panic.

Thanks ahead of time

Hmm.. I gave the tool a try but it said my device was not connected.
Problem I'm having is that I can wipe cache in recovery but when I first tried to install the ROM from zip, I forgot to backup ROM, fastboot boot image and wipe cache.
Another problem is that I can't mount the sd card or use fastboot USB right now. When I boot into recovery to mount SD card, it shows an error and fastboot doesn't seem to fully connect.
(One X also has no removable SD card)
When I try to mount SD card in recovery, it gives me an error so that means I can't just mount SD card to put stock ROM.
Right now, I'm looking for a way to mount SD card successfully so I can put stock ROM back on the One X. But until I can somehow mount the sd card, I'm in the stress and I'm a little afraid. My car mount for One X just came in and I can't use it.
Thanks in advance.
Telling us what the error is would be useful.
However, because I AM psychic, I can tell you that your version of clockworkmod is not the latest, so get 5.8.4.0, flash it:
fastboot flash recovery cwm-5.8.4.0.img
And then recovery will work for mounting as USB.

access to recovery but stuck in bootloop

None of the "similar" threads have people with this problem. I can access Recovery (Clockwork Mod v5.8.4.0), I can do everything within Recovery, full wipe, erase dalvik cache etc, BUT it still will not get past "HTC quietly brilliant".
I got into this mess by trying to flash a kernel. I think the battery was about 15%.
I can mount the sd card via usb, so I'm going to extract the back-up I did before getting into this bootloop.
I've tried this:
If you have Custom ROM on or nandroid backup internal SD card
Reboot in recovery (If your still in fastboot, choose "Reboot Bootloader" and then go into recovery)
Restore a Nandroid Backup or flash Custom ROM
Reboot and go into fastboot
Clean cache in fastboot

Very Similar Problem - Please Help!
I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have the same problem, all it says is 'HTC Quietly Brilliant' and it is stuck in a reboot cycle.
I was watching a YouTube tutorial on how to flash CM10 onto my One X (I do have ClockworkMod and all of that stuff installed already). Everything was going well, but the video only briefly (for maybe a second) mentioned the fact that you have to put the CM10 zip folder onto the phone storage before you flash the boot.img. I went on and followed the steps and tried to flash the boot.img, but as I said earlier, all the phone will do is reboot over and over again. I have charged it to full battery so this should not be a problem when I go to fix it.
I would be really grateful for any help on the subject as I contacted the person who made the tutorial, and he has not responded. Thanks in advance.
Just an update if anyone has the same problem as I did, all I had to do was go into ClockworkMod and go to:
Mounts and Storage > Mount USB Storage
Then, just connect the device to your PC and put the zip folder on phone storage. Then, flash the boot.img, and install the zip from SD card in ClockworkMod. Hope this helps.

First off, I'm sorry if you already knew most of the instructions below, or if you are an experienced user. I'm just writing the full steps out so that any user, novice or otherwise, can follow the steps and get their phone working. I will also assume that your phone is already rooted and has ClockworkMod installed.
Before anything else, make sure you have HTC Sync downloaded so that you have the drivers.
Okay, when you are trying to install a custom ROM, you have to put the full zip file on the phone storage. What I would do is create a new folder in C: drive called 'Android' or 'HTC ROM' or whatever you want to put. For the rest of the answer, I will call it AndroidF (android folder). Copy this zip folder into AndroidF. If you go into the zip folder (don't unzip it), you should find a disk image file called 'boot' or 'boot.img'. Copy this out so that it sits in AndroidF too (do not move it!). Once it is in AndroidF, rename it boot.
Once you have done this, go into the bootloader and go to recovery. This will take you to ClockworkMod. From there go to:
Mounts and Storage > Mount USB Storage
Then, connect the phone to your PC and put the zip folder onto the phone. Then, tap unmount, and go back to the bootloader. Click fastboot, and make sure that it says 'Fastboot USB'. If not, just unplug the phone and plug it back in again, and this message should be there. Leave the phone once this has happened.
Go back to AndroidF, and hold shift, right click and choose "Open Command Window Here". Command Prompt should pop up. Then type the following,
fastboot flash boot boot.img
If this works, skip to the next paragraph. If not, type fastboot flash boot boot.img.img. This should then work.
Go back to the phone, and select HBoot. Then go to the recovery from here. Once in the recovery, go to:
Install zip from SD card > Choose zip from SD card
Find the zip file and install it. And voila! Your phone should be running whatever ROM you have picked. If you have any more problems, message me back and I will try and help as well as I can
You can use "adb push" and "adb pull" in recovery to copy files from and to your phone, but you have to mount sdcard from recovery first.
to browse storage directly on the phone you can use "adb shell" and then "ls" and "cd directoryname" to find file which you want to copy from the device.

Well, those actions did not delete the recovery you flashed so you should be able to enter it. If yes you can:
A) take the sdcard out and copy the data to it on your PC (home/work/friend/cafe?)
B) connect the phone to PC using USB cable:
- on PC start Command Prompt (cmd.exe)
- navigate to the directory where you have the new ROM stored
- enter "adb sideload ROM_filename"
- while at the same time in your recovery enter flashing menu and select Sideload
- you will be able to flash rom
C) enter "Download Mode" (power+home+vol_down) also called Odin Download Mode and use PC Odin to flash some recovery - search for Philz custom recovery, he has versions named something.md5 that are usable to Odin.
