is there a way or an app that will mute the sound when undocking?
I have the official sammy desktop dock.
cheers.
If you are rooted, you can delete/rename the sound files in the /system/media ui folder

When I flashed Ruby 1.1.4 the default ringtone was called something like 'de mari...something something' it was a 8-bit song
I had assumed it's a ringtone from the default AOSP ringtone set however when I flashed Cyanogen 6.1 it wasn't there. I was wondering if anyone could help me pull the ringtone from the ROM so I can use it where ever I want.
Or could you pull the ringtone and share as a .zip or as a .mp3?
all system sounds (ringtones, notifications, alarms etc.) are in /system/media/audio in their respective folders. just download the rom and open up the zip to find them.

Here is a link to ring tones from cm6.
This may not contain the ring tone file you were looking for.
How do you install ringtones/notifications on this thing?
I have 2 ringtones that I have been using on Android devices since 1.2.
Both are just short MP3 clips.
I have tried the following locations:
/sdcard/Notifications
/sdcard/Ringtones (<--- This is where the Hangouts tones are.)
/sdcard/media/notifications
They do not appear in Sound --> Default notification sound.
Do they have to be .ogg now?
You just need to give mediaserver time to discover and index them. They'll show up by tomorrow.

I copied my favorite ringtones to /sdcard /Ringtones without any problems. They were mp3s.
I've been all over this phone looking for the tones that sound when dialing through the original dialer and also exdiler because they're different. I know where the ui folder is under system/media/audio but even if I take that off the phone, the keypad tones still sound. Is it possible that they're inbeded within the app itself?
Wow, this is maddening! I've read a lot of threads about ringtones and sounds but none seem to acknowledge what is happening on my VS986 11a phone. I have put custom notification and ringtone files in the appropriate system folders. In fact, I put the same files in both ringtones and notifications folders. The files appear there and will show up when I try to change the notification sound for a specific app. I can select and hear them as ringtones but not as notification sounds. When you select one of the custom sounds for an app, it plays the system default sound, Crystal.
I initially put them in as mp3 files. I noticed that all system sounds are ogg files, so I changed them to ogg. Still no joy. When I play the files from the system folder with SE Music Player, the files play just fine. They simply won't play as app notification sounds. What gives?
Is it possible for someone with a Windows 10 Mobile phone to extract system sound files (ringtones, alarm, notification, camera sounds, clicks, etc) and post them?
