Nice walkthrough from slashgear giving a great overview of the upcoming os
I don't know if it's just me, or because I've seen so many demos of the device but...
What's nice is that even though the guy's audio is broken, everything he's doing is so clear and obvious. It's all just flowing and being very responsive. It almost doesn't need words.
Was just wondering which websites people follow for their fix of WP7 news. I myself have found a couple of good ones, but none of them are big enough to be my only source of news.
Anyway, here's my list:
WMPowerUser - Great site that does a couple of app and game reviews daily and usually has the best coverage about WP7 news. Only negative is that sometimes they seem just a tad biased, but I guess that's a given with a dedicated site.
WP Central - Good site that also does at least one review daily. But also lacks in comparison to the amount of news found on WMPU.
PocketNow - One of the only mobile sites that does an equal amount of coverage for WP7 as the other platforms. Plus there's a filter above their article previews which means you can choose to only read about WP7 news if you want.
Best WP7 Games - Bad name, but a truly excellent site. I just found it a couple of days ago and it's my new favorite for game reviews and news. I have discovered a lot of great games I literally had no idea about.
So, what are yours?
nice find. knew about a couple of them, but best wp7 games looks cool.

WP7 App List looks great. It gives a very nice statistics:
http://wp7applist.com/stats/
AppsFuze gives you direct links to an application page + shows app rating.
Marketplace Browser is easiest to be found in Google It allows posting comments/answers.
Nice topic !
Personnaly, mine are MonSmartphone.net with it's nice design (it reminds me of my smartphone WP7). It covers main news about Windows Phone 7 (and WP7 enabled smartphones) and some games/apps weekly.
It has everything about WP7, even a marketplace. The bad : only in French :'(
I also like Engadget, really awesome, a reference ! Covers nearly everything about gizmos and technologies.
Finally, MobileTechWorld for his nice articles, reviews and news about Windows Phone 7
there is also mobilitydigest.com and wpcentral.com
Obviously these 3 websites:

Yes yes I use all of these sites and they are great for now, but I have a vision for something a lot greater
That's why I am actually releasing a new site: Windowsphonespot.com
Can't spill all the details right now, but I've already registered the domain and am hard at work on the design. Just know that when the site does open (Around January) it will be THE site to visit daily for all WP7 owners.

WMPoweruser.com has to tone down their ads though. I particularly hate that big block of ads separating the blog post and the comments section. Not to mention the irrelevant Goodyear tire ads (which Pocketnow also displays).
I know the ads support the site, but there's a point where too many ads make the ads themselves ineffective/irrelevant.
i agree. best thing to do is to have an adblocker installed. though it might be hard to find a good one for IE, but they're out there.

I like to add two apps
1. app finder http://sorokoletov.com/ztop/

OP should add in all/some of the links in to the first post and mods should sticky this! Could be useful to people new to WP7 and dont know where to find more info about WP7 news. This thread certainly did help me!
I'm working on making my website the premier site for WP7 game news and reviews. http://www.m-arcade.com/ - I haven't officially launched it yet. I plan to do that sometime next week, but from that point forward I hope to provide frequent game reviews (with video) and also relevant news.
One thing I did with my site was made it incredibly easy for people to log in and comment, both in the blog and the forums, which I hope encourages discussion that will lead to better game updates, and also more informed game purchases.
Hi,
In January 2011 me and two other friends started our first web-based project: a website about Windows Phone ecosystem.
Things are going relatively well but there is room for improvement.
Can you please check out the website and tell us what you think is missing, what is surplus, etc. We would love to hear your sincere opinion: if you think it sucks, don't be afraid to say it
Thanks
since there was no link, I. used copy/paste :_)=
URL for easy linkage:
http://wp7lab.com/
As for the website, I think it looks pretty nice and functions as it should.
Most of the material is just duplicate to what's on other WP7 blogs but I do like the game reviews. If you keep reviewing lesser known apps, I'll definately continue to check it out.
Following you on twitter.
trying links on the site and they keep timing out.
site looks nice though.
Before I get started I want to say before I read the Engadget review I have already read reviews from cnet, and the huffington Post.
I was really shocked by the review Engadget has published for the Lumia 900. The other three professional reviews I had read had mostly praises for the phone. They all mentioned the low display resolution limitation of current WP7 devices however they also never mentioned how stunning the display actually was. The color saturation and sunlight visibility of the screen appear to be amazing. Engadget fails to mention that but instead complains about how the screen isn't tapered.
To make it even worse they started a hardware article with 2 negative comments about the phone. The screen display and build quality. before I get into the build quality All I have to say is that unless you feel the phone is absolute crap you don't do this.
However all the other reviewed from other professional organizations and AT&T representatives have raved about the great the build quality is. Even Engadget employees sent to CES and MWC raved about this, so why now call it a negative?
Engadget, I am aware you believe the WP martetplace is disappointing because it has only 70000+ apps. However it has either all the main apps you actually use or a decent alternative. The marketplace doesn't need a lot of crappy apps, see google play, it just needs to have the ones you use. Seriously, who cares about fart apps or 50 apps all doing the exact same thing
Overall I felt this review was meant to downgrade the perception of the Nokia Lumia 900. It just doesn't fall in line with anyhting else I have read. I knew they had an apple and htc fetish but I still respected most of their reviews, however that changed today with this travesty.
I am even starting to think maybe Tim Cook called them directly to make sure AT&T pays for calling any other phone other than the iPhone 4S their "flagship."
** removed th verge review. I know I read another major professional review, I thought it was the verge but I guess it was someone else.
I thought the same thing. The reviewer seemed biased (against the phone) from the start. In contrast I just read the review on WPCentral and thought it was the best and most informative Lumia 900 review yet. Interestingly enough there is a comment at the end of that review that talks about the guy at Engadget and speculates he is known for disliking anything Microsoft.
Actually Engadget review was more favorable to Lumia 900 than Verge review.
If you write Engadget on a piece of paper, then hold it in front of a mirror, and angle it just so...it will say. ... Enohpi

No doubt it was the worst review. He likes the hardware for the most part, but slams the WP7 os, giving the os a lower score than when they reviewed the 800. Just confirms to me that Topolsky really is a MS hater. Some of his complaints sound like a typical Android fanboy, classics such as 'single core cpu' and 'low resolution screen'.

Just watched it and it definitely looks like he wanted to take an opportunity to say how much he doesn't like the Windows Phone OS. That's fine if he doesn't like it but shouldn't he be reviewing the phone and how it works with the OS? Definite biased review - like he really didn't even want to use the phone because it has WP on it.
Everyone has opinions, and he's entitled to his. He doesn't like it, and its his job to share his opinion. My son tried windows phone, then went back to android. He sounded like this guy. He could pick things out...this and that, and did not consider the overall experience. Thats fine. There are lots of things to love in android, and lots of things to love in Windows phone. Pick what works for you.

I was just reading the CNET review.
One of the strange things I saw in the Engadget review was the comment, I won't fit in your pocket...or something like that. I thought that was a strange thing to say. For those obviously looking for something to hang on to..yeah...its bigger. But...the way he said it..like somebody else said...it was obvious he didn't even want to do the review.
Anyway...the CNET review uses...get this...the Cyan 900 half in, half out of the pocket. I had to laugh...scared the cat, who knocked by bowl of cereal off my desk. Which gives me just another reason to not watch ENiphoneGADGET reviews anymore.
Unfortunately, this review confirms that it has same crappy camera as Lumia 800 does. Well, that was expected, but stiil, there were some hints and i had hopes...

Actually, this review does nothing of the sort. You have a guy, who obviously does not even want to touch the phone, doing a review that searches for anything nice to say. According to him, this phone is a bottom dweller and he needs to disinfect his hands, immediately.
Thats not to say the camera is in deed good. I've heard good, I've heard bad. Persoanlly I use a camera phone for quick shots, and only 1 time in my many phones has a camera on a phone not been good enough for that...the Dell Venue Pro. Otherwise...I've been good. Of course my expectations do not include front cover Vogue shots.
The Verge review was unbelievably biased. I had hoped for more from that site after they picked up Tom Warren, but no luck. Just as lame as Engadget.
I think the worst I read was on Pocketnow. I don't event think the reviewer ever used the phone. He used a stock photo of 2 iPhones to compare the screen resolution.
With so many android phones out there, most of the sites do cater to android and apple...as they should. Most hard core android users have nothing good to say about wp or apple. Most apple users have nothing good to say about android or wp. They simply don't realize they lose their credibility by acting unbiased.
With hundreds of thousands of androids being registered everyday, I wonder why any other phone is ever going to be released.
All but the most hardcore of users fail to realize the lack of quality hardware and software wise on an android phone. Hardcore users can mod and tweek and do this and that...I used to be because they can...but now I lean towards because they have to.
I had the pleasure of working for a company that tested windows phones before the original release. I was majorly disappointed. I came to realize later that dissapointment was because my expectations were too high. I was looking for shooting stars and glitzy this and that. What MS focused on was pure reliablity. After a year I reset my expectations and the Windows Phone, IMO, is far superior than other phones. It works every time. I came back to the HD7 and Dell Venue Pro, moved to the Samsung Focus S and now on to the Lumia 900. I have not been disappointed yet. I've adjusted my expectation to the WP and use the People tab, and Messaging Hub and think of these things as the better way. My daughter just converted to the Lumia 710 from android...why....because of reliability. My son is still on android after trying WP...but he's a modder.
So I watch these reviews and laugh....every review they say this is their favorite phone ever....uh huh...why...cause their last favorite got to have android phone doesn't work any more....oh well...must be a verizon customer.

This time's 1000+. The majority of my friends are not tech heads. They just want their devices to work. The ones who have gone to WP7 have all said the same thing - they love it. Its quick, easy to use, and looks good. They could care less about modding or skinning their phones, or how many cores it has, how much ram, or the screen resolution.
When it comes to WP7, MS should really steal Apple's moto of 'it just works', and it works well.
I must've read 10+ reviews since they all came out last night. The overall response is positive. I think Verge and Engadget had the harshest reviews comparing apps and camera quality to the 4s and Nexus.
2 things I don't care much about. None of the bad reviews have me second guessing my decision to switch from my iPhone 4.
Can't wait till the 9th!

I read all of these reviews today and they really got off topic of the Device and got on the OS. So I took it upon myself to Tweet both Verge and engadget to see what the Lumia 900 has to do, to be as good as Android or iOS. The things they gripped about such as the third party apps lagging, same thing that happens on iOS and Android so that argument isnt valid. Of course I didnt get a reply from them. I agree the OS is missing some things but the device funtions well and does what its suppose to do.
And IM SICK AND TIRED of people bashing WP for not having multi Cores, if anything it should show everyone that you dont need multi cores to operate well. They tend to bash the specs but WP functions just as fast as any other OS but with lower specs. Most people dont even care about specs as long as it works well and does what its suppose to.

Thanks for posting the link to the PhoneDog review. It was definitely positive and he compared it to other phones and operating systems and based his review on the phone itself while pointing out how the WP OS works.
You guys are right that it's like TheVerge and Engadget reviewer's did as little as they could to explore around the phone and know how to use the OS. All I got from them was "The Lumia 900 is a nice phone but man do we hate this OS. So we overall the score is a 5 out of 10". I can't believe they get paid to be lazy.

I was talking to my coworker about the same thing the title makes no sense, that why I highlighted it in my first post.
The author commented in his review and said something like TLDR: This phone would have been great in 2014 but not in 2016
The Verge is weird.

Just updated the original post, according to ArsTechnica, the HTC 10 is the BEST Android Flagship of 2016, impressive
i don't think the verge "review" should be considered a review, it was so obvious they didn't want to say anything good about it that they just made stuff up as they went, they barely talked about the phone and what it has, that was the most shameless attempt i have seen of attempting to put down a device i have ever seen, I used to like their stuff that but after this...

Also don't forget that the guy that created The Verge was considered the largest Apple fanboy (Joshua Topolsky) so they still have those Apple roots even though he's not associated with the site anymore. But I do agree, the one thing that they said in the review that was a real head scratcher was when they made the statement that the camera was slow, every single other reviewer claimed the opposite, it's hard to believe them in that regard.
Gizmodo thinks it's pretty awesome, though they have some harsh (but fair, IMO) words for HTC.
Seriously, HTC’s software is the best it’s ever been. Fans of stock Android will be very happy.
Battery life is stellar with guaranteed one-day battery life, and two days no problem with light to medium use.
Audio is now best in class, while the camera is no longer the worst in class
HTC’s craven desire to win over consumers means consumers actually win for a change.

And Pocket Now:

The verge gave an it 8.0 which is a very good score. I don't see how it was a bad review. He compared it to the competition and said for its price point it doesn't stand out , that doesn't mean its a bad phone. From what I understand, If this phone doesn't get a 9.5 or a 10 its automatically a bad review lol I smell fanboyism
Im actually a fanboy for sure. Ordered on launch day. Have owned M7-9.
The comment on the Verge review which states that this phone would have been great in 2014 is what pisses me off.
Also I am typing this from my S7 Edge, which ill be giving away once the 10 gets here.

I don't think people are complaining about the review so much as the ridiculous title that makes no sense.
There's no doubt that from the get go the verge writer wanted to hate this phone which honestly doesn't add much to the credibility of this website.

he starts of by saying that the phone doesn't have any gimmicks as if that was a bad thing, and keeps speak down on it, in reviews you've to be impartial and know what you're talking about, he fails at everything a reviewer should be... watch the video again it's crap, and i never owned or own an HTC
WSJ has a "meh" review:

Time has a good review with reservations and the camera issue again:
http://time.com/4292673/htc-10-review/
I am starting to see more and more reviews mentioning that camera is very good but doesn't hold up to the S7, despite the DXO rating. Hmmm. I think DXO is suspect as it seems they rushed out review just as it went on sale simultaneously and many reviews are quoting them. Sounds like someone "influenced" somebody and not really impartial. IMHO.
