Please help, soft bricked - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

So I successfully rooted and installed CWM but I formatted system data and cache and am now unable to install a .zip as whenever I try to "choose update from sdcard" I get an error:
E:unkown volum for path [/sdcard/]
E:Can't mount /sdcard/
is there a way I can mount my sd so I can flash the rom? I am currently formatting it on my pc, but can I just odin a stock file back onto my phone?
any help is gretly appreciated

yes you should be able to flash a complete system tar from odin.
or try mounting the usb in cwm copying the files to the internal memory and choose
"install from internal sd card"

Thanks thats what I figured, only problem is the ACS site is down right now and I cant find a mirror to a stock tar file
how would I transfer to internal usb without being able to boot? ADB?

Install Kies if you haven't already, and odin the stock .tar file. You don't need adb, just put your phone into download mode and connect it to your computer. You should be rewarded with the stock rom/kernel and no brick.

[Q] HELP Bootloop, cant mount to access CWM files

I downloaded zedomax's backup but i can not access the files even though i have kies installed with the drivers, and CWM is in USB mount mode. My computer does not recognize the phone so i can not upload the backup file. please help....
You might just need to Odin a recovery tar and start over. At least that is what I did when I couldn't even access my internal or external sd card or mount usb on cwm.
I used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282420
I know you have the Zedomax kernel, but read the thread to see if you are still able to go through with this method and start over. If you can access Odin mode or cwm, you aren't bricked.
I'm sure there is someone more knowledgeable that can provide you a better option but this is the only method I know. Good luck.

Mounting USB storage while in CWM recovery

I was trying to flash a new rom and, to make things short, somehow my system and internal usb storage were wiped. So now i can't reboot and when i try to mount the usb storage from cwm to put the rom back on it it says "E:Unable to write to ums lunfile (No such file or directory)". I don't have an sd card with me right now. Is there any way i can get a rom back on my internal usb storage?
edit: I just realized i can return to stock using odin. But if anybody knows how i can mount usb storage from cwm please let me know. sorry for the noobness, i'm new to samsung.
Had the same problem
hey man I have the same problem too but my internal storage isn't wiped.
as far as I know you can only download clockworkmod recovery with ODIN.
here is the link of my thread concerning this problem in XDA:

Go to galaxys2root.com, find ur model of device. It has exact files on how to restore stock factory settings on your phone. Reroot and happy flashings

If Odin works for you I recommend going to this address and doing exactly like the instructions given:

Fast...wasn't it?!

stuck in recovery now what?

I updated clockworkmod recovery through rom manager. Rom manager said the install was successful. So then I boot into the recovery to flash the cyanogenmod 10 preview build. I do all my wipes data, cash, exe. Then I go to install the rom and I realize now with the new recovery I can’t install/restore anything from /extsdcard (external storage). It only has the option to install/restore from /sdcard (internal storeage) which would be fine except all my roms/backups are on my micro sdcard (external storage). I have already wiped everything so now I can’t boot my phone to fix it. Is there a way to install the old recovery after I have wiped everything. I was thinking about using Odin to flash the old recovery in download mode again (like I did when rooting) but I am not sure if this is ok to do. I tried mounting the internal storage to my pc to copy the files I need from my computer to my phone. When I plugged it in the box in the bottom right popped up and said installing drivers and they were successful but when I try mounting (anything) the computer does not recognize it. So I can’t transfer the files. Would someone who knows more than me give some advice please?

While youre in recovery, can you mount through the mounts and storage option? Im not on the recovery you are talking about but if you can mount it you can throw the rom on that way. If you cant do that you should be able to just boot up the rom thats currently on it and mount it that way. Just because you wiped everything doesnt mean that it wont boot up, it just cleared all of the data. It should load up with your previous rom.
Thank you very much. It gave me more insight on what was going on. I have my phone back up and working. I was able to flash the old recovery with odin and i hope this information will help someone else in future as well.

Big mistake in my first flash... Help please!

Hi,
i tried to flash a custom ROM and i found a tutorial which said to use "super wipe android revolution" so i put it in the sdcard like the .zip from the custom ROM.
I launched "choose zip from sdcard" and selected super wipe.zip, but after rebooting on recovery when i tried to apply the next file with "choose .zip from sdcard" it said to me that "no files found"!
When i reboot normally, there is the samsung LOGO but nothing else after 5-10 minutes....
Omg that script is erase all the data so why should i do this before flashing a new rom i can't understand why i can't do anything know execpt going on recovyer/ DL mode.
Can you please help me to find a solution like putting maybe the custom ROM on external SD card ?? is it possible or ?
Thanks a lot i'm very afraid of being in this situation...
No need to panic, you can either flash a stock rom from odin in download mode, or put a custom rom on your ext sd card. You will need to flash a decent recovery though for ext sd something like twrp, you can use odin to flash it.

Thanks bro !
I have a 6.xxx CWM so i can put my rom .zip on the external SD and select "choose zip from external sdcard" on the recovery to install on my internal sdcard right?
Yep, that should do it.

I putted my backup on external sdcard, i'm triying this i hope it will work.
Otherwise i 'll try to put my ROM in external and try again.
Good! I just recover my system by putting the backup on my external sd card! Thanks a lot i'll try to put the .zip for flashing the rom now.

#1: Remove the back of the phone and remove the microsd card (or buy a cheap one)
plug the microsd card into your computer then download a basic twrp flashable
rom and copy it onto the microsd card and put it back into the phone.
.
Here is the direct download link for the basic rom:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23622183712472801
#2: You need to ODIN flash CF-autoroot and TWRP recovery.
None of the above will wipe/delete/erase or destroy your files
or data. Here is the direct download link for ODIN: (just in case you need it)
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/45687485/odin1.85.rar
#3: Unrar odin to an empty folder and unzip the contents of cf-autoroot
and twrp recovery zip files into the same empty folder as odin is in then
flash cf-autoroot first, then flash twrp recovery.
#4: Once your phone is rooted and has twrp custom recovery, you are
ready to flash the zip file which you copied to your microsd card.
Flashing a basic twrp/cwm flashable zip file rom will not destroy,
delete, erase or wipe your files and data in the phone.
#5: Be sure NOT do perform a factory reset before or after flashing
the rom, twrp or cf-autoroot.
#6: For best results, flash cf-autooot first then flash twrp recovery.
Here are the links for cf-autoroot and twrp recovery:
CF-Autoroot:

TWRP recovery:

Good luck!
Thank you so much for answering. Because i have the same issue. But I'm stuck on 3. It sounds like i have to do them on the computer. If so wouldn't that require that i have USB debugging on and adb?
I don't have that option clicked on the phone and I can't click it due to the fact I can't unlock the phone either.
Thanks for your help. And thank you for any future clarification

You don't need to have usb debugging since all you need the computer for
is to copy a twrp flashable zip file rom onto a microsd card which in turn
would be the source of your zipfile rom and then you can use twrp recovery
to flash the zipfile rom.
That way twrp will have a zipfile rom to work with since twrp will recognize
the microsd card as the source for the zipfile rom which you need to flash.
Remember that the microsd card needs to be plugged into the computer
temporarily just so you can copy a zipfile rom file onto it.
Then once that's done the microsd card needs to be plugged back into the phone.
No ADB no USB pushing of files required.
Look at it this way, if your phone was working properly right now and you wanted
to flash a custom rom you would have a choice to flash it from internel memory or
the microsd card in your phone. If the rom is on the microsd card then twrp can flash
the rom from it instead of using the internal memory of the phone.
Good luck!
OK so let's make sure I understand 100%. I only need the computer to download and move the files. I don't need the computer for the process of rooting and flashing.
Odin.rar will be a first. I flash that via the so card and then flash the recovery. After that i will flash twrp/cwm flashable zip? Once this process is complete I can use the aroma file to remove the password.key file. Does this sound right. Again thank you very much. This is great help
error post
I don't plug the phone in the computer. I take the card out and plug it into a usb Micro sd card reader. I then just put the card back in the phone.
