hi everybody; im a new member here, and i have 2 questions if its possible
1- how to disable charging the phone via usb cable
2- when i charge the battery with wall charger ( blackberry charger) the screen is locked, is that an option or a bug?
im using miui rom the last one 1.10.21( wajkiui)
thanks a lot ....................
109 views and no one simple reply?!! wow! thanks anyway.....
1) You can't disable charging from usn, seen as there is no physical difference in the usb plug. Still the same electric pins providing electricity to it
2) Yes it probably is a bug, but if you search for it, you may know more on it. Bugs rarely happen to only one person

Ah! ok, thanks for replying ill search dor that, maybe because im using blackberry wall charger , i need the original one i suppose.
Hello, I use the original charger and Motorola had the same problem, both in MIUI Rom as the CM7. My screen does not crash, but is very slow, I tried several things but it does not. How to disable loading, try using aa option "USB Debugging" enabled and when you connect, use "usb storage". I hope this helps.

Running Winnner00 CM9 + Franco kernel (tried nightly 160 and stable M3)
Using Franco's app I am unable to enable force fast charging. The checkbox in Settings seems to be ignored. Tried both nightly and stable kernels, reboots, etc. It does work from command line, so I think the issue is in the app itself. Am I missing something here?
Any suggestions?
Does CM9 have the option built in? I know AOKP does. I leave them both fc options enabled (rom & kernel) because I charge my phone in the car waaay more often then I plug it up to the comp. If CM9 has an option for it enable it there.

did you unplug before turning it on? you cant be plugged in while enabling fast charge.
Also, try updating your superuser (even if it says it is up to date). Just a thought as I've read this can cause issues.
Afaik, CM doesnt support fastcharge.

Yeah, basically it is a combination of a few things - one is that even though it says it is enabled at boot time, it is not. You have to turn it off and back on. The second is what you mentioned, you have to unplug it and plug it back in if you turned it on while plugged in.
I ended up using a plug-in for Tasker to manage it, though it is wierdly hard to GET the current state (how hard is it to read a file, apparently hard) from Tasker, though setting state works.

Yeah, that guy's a ghost, you'll never get a response from him.
You can check out Secure Settings plugin (sorry, can't post links yet, but search it) - it is great for a LOT of things including this (its under Custom ROM options)

But, on a serious note, i got the solution for the problem already..
For others out there seeking the solution to the problem, the trick is to unplug and then again plugin the USB cable after you enable the fast charge..
And then in battery stats it should show charging(AC) instead of charging(USB)

Sorry, I missed that this was the issue you were trying to solve. Yeah, when you switch the charging mode, it only takes effect after you next plug in. It will not change your current connection - which can be especially tricky if you reboot while plugged in.
I wanted it to be on by default since I hardly ever use USB for data. I would love to have the ability to have it come up enabled and to disable it, but that does not seem to be how it works - which, I guess, makes sense as you would loose any ability to debug in case of emergency, as in fast charge mode all data communication over USB is off.

If you keep the fast charge option enabled, it would always be on by default, (the way YOU need it), and when ever u want to use the USB, turn it off..
There are plenty of apps on google play which support simple toggle between fast charge on/off.. many of them have widgets too.. which makes it more than easy, just a tap away..

Not entirely true - first of all for this to stay on you have to have Franco's app (or another app that turns it on at boot time) to auto-turn it on on boot - it does NOT keep state across reboots. At the time of the original posting in this thread, the Franco's app did NOT work for this, so you had to manually go into it and turn it off and back on again before it worked - so I automated this via Tasker. Just tested, seems like it is working now (although it takes a while after boot before the setting is applied, Tasker/Secure Settings route is MUCH faster). Secondly, if you boot up with the USB cable in, it will ALWAYS boot into USB mode because of what I said before. (Unplugging it and plugging back in once it is fully booted and fast charge is on, will turn then register it as AC).
But yes, there are a number of other routes and apps to do this.

I said that because mine stays on across reboots..
If your option turns off, Tasker is no doubt the next option..
And regarding booting with USB cable plugged in, i already mentioned in a previous post that you will have to unplug and plug in the USB cable again to enter into fast charge mode with stats as Charging(AC)

Change USB cable/Charger your using, change input, use laptop/PC instead of plug or Vice Versa, or it may be the port where you plug it into your phone, if above fails, the port is probably broke, fnd an angle it charges at, and create a method to always have it at that angle..

Hello all,
I have a nexus 7 2013 and I am looking for a kernel that supports otg plus charge. Now, I know elemental x (by flar2) and a few others have this but the ones I have found do not support hot swap, or unplug and replug without rebooting. I am pretty sure Timurs kernel supports this but he wants $36 to buy it and I would rather not spend the money without trying it out first. Specifically, I have a fixed in-car installation and a febon100 UVC video grabber to display a backup camera. When the car shuts off, the febon will be disconnected from the usb side of the nexus, and the only way to reconnect it is to reboot the tablet with power connected. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for the help.
Ok so I figured part of it out. After the device looses and regains power, these two commands simulate the usb disconnect and reconnect and seems to work (only tried it a couple times)...
Code:
echo "2-0:1.0" > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/hub/unbind
echo "2-0:1.0" > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/hub/bind
However, I have another issue. I am using the elementalx kernel on android 4.4.4 (currently on Carbon rom but have tried stock and other roms as well with same outcome). When the tablet reboots with the otg cable connected, it does not charge when it first starts up. To charge it, I have to physically unplug and replug the cord in the nexus. Any ideas?

Does this set of command still work with lollipop? I just tried a few times and it seems to have made no difference.

It's been almost a year any way to accomplish charging without having to physically unplug the OTG and plug it back in. Im have timurs kernel but I want to use elemental so I can use marshmallow. Timur accomplished it somehow. Someone has to know how.

It is actually trivially easy to accomplish - on any kernel - it is called Qi Wireless Charging.

Test results for Android 6.0.1 Stock + Kernel 'Quanta-V7-Flo' with active 'USB Host Mode Charging' and inactive 'fast charging' (N7 is only is use when its connected to the USB Power):
Ampere values checked with one of the cheap 'USB Charger Doctor Voltage Current Meter Mobile Battery Tester':
0.45 A for N7 only
0.61 A for N7 + USB Ethernet adapter
I don't use the N7 in a car setup but this should be important for such setups:
-If the USB Y cable is connected before powering on the N7, the USB device was usable in Android after startup without need for reconnecting the USB cable
-If the USB was unplugged and reconnected the device, it was usable in Android
-Important: If the N7 goes to sleep, it can't recover the USB charging and USB devices after waking. You should set the display timeout to always on, which is right for a car setup or am I'm wrong?
I'm happy! :good:
I tried quanta. It does work except for on initial boot. Have to unplug and plug it back in to charge. Then it works fine turning the key on and off for power. However it doesn't mount the OTG devices again without unplugging it and plugging it back in.
Edit: I also have another problem was at work and didn't have time to add it. But my Nexus thinks it's still charging after disconnecting it from power supply through the OTG cable. When I turn the key off it quits charging for about 1 second then switch's back to saying it's charging again and continues to say it's charging even after cycling the key on and off. Only way to fix it is to disconnect the OTG straight from the tablet and plug it back in or boot it into recovery then back to system. Has done this thru multiple roms and kernels. Only kernel it doesn't do it on is Quanta. The thing is it didn't use to do it at all no matter what rom or kernel I was using. I even went as far as to change the charging port board cause I had another one in a old junk Nexus I have and still didn't fix it.

I`ve got a problem with my HTC that I can`t solve. First it wouldn`t charge, then the speaker suddenly turns on/off while speaking with someone. While texting, the messages suddenly disappear, so I have to type it again. Then my car navigation app turns on and off for no reason. I installed the antivirus protection and it`s still the same. Then I reinstalled the software , but still no changes. Has anyone ever had a similar experience, and what did you do to fix the problem? Thanks in advance.

Changing cables did not solve the AA problem for me. Except the oneplus 3t cable, I've only tried with anker ones. Maybe I should have tried other brands.
Interesting thing, the Anker USB-C to USB-A USB2 cable has solved the problem with my older power-bank.
hi to all, changed cable, tried PTP workaround, it could work once or twice but later as you connect the phone to the car it won't work for sure .... a real pain .... the only way for me is to use the old OP6 with android 10 custom ROM with the car, and the OP9P (main device and number!) not connected at all with the car, using a BT headset to answer while driving ..... what a shame!

Have you tried setting don't optimize for aa, then when you plus your phone into your car hold on the notification. Change it to important then turn sound and vibration off for that notification
I had similar issues with my OP9. I then made sure USB debugging was on in developer settings and that fixed the issue.

thanks for suggestion but no way, I can connect once the OP9P playing with usb in developer section settings, but it works once, and I have to delete the car from the phone and the phone from the car settings ! When I reconnect to the car the OP9P starts to opening AA and closes it quickly, it never connects as my old OP6 with android 10 and custom ROM does ....
Now I am waiting for amazon to deliver other usb cables from Ugreen, but I don't think they will solve my issue .... hope very soon a custom ROM will arrive for this OP9P so that I will probably solve this SW issue, not sure it is only on Goolge side the reason for this issue, I suppose it could be something on Oneplus Oxygen ....

You need developer settings on.
You need to turn on USB Debugging.
If this still fails, try switching the DEFAULT USB CONFIGURATION to FILE TRANSFER from NO DATA TRANSFER.
You may need to reboot after this, you may not.
Default USB Configuration is found under the Networking section in Developer Options, between Tethering hardware acceleration and Show Bluetooth devices without names.

all settings are ok in the OP9P, but it works as usual only once and after I stop the car in never reconnects again! if I reboot OP9P sometimes it works again .... for me it's not the "right" way to use it.
the OP6 works perfectly you can connect and disconnect how many times you want it never fails!
let's wait for next oxygen updates and maybe also google patches for their SW .... thanks again for sharing your experience!
Here is an update, after some time trying various combinations, I realized this device works perfectly the first time you connect to the car, if you turn off the car for example to get some fuel for a few minutes or less, or if you disconnect the phone and reconnect it without waiting, op9p won't connect anymore, but if you wait like a quarter then it will work perfectly.... the old op6 is not doing like that!!!!
Anyway now I know how to make it work and I can handle it someway!
