[Q] loStKernel App drawer problem - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Ok so i am a noob to android and cant post in the loStkernel thread. but i am seeing an issue with it. after flashing it using CWM i can no longer change pages using the dots on the bottom, only through flipping one by one. i use that feature a lot. i had dome some other things since flashing it so i restored back to a few days ago and bam it was working again with a differnt kernel. so i flashed loStkernel stable again and it stopped working again. so it must be that. anyone else have this issue? dont know what else it could be.
thanks

noone else has this problem? i dont know what else it could be. as i said i flashed back to a stable state and everything works fine. as soon as i load the LoStKernel it messes up. so it would have to be that. five more posts and i can get this in the right thread. thanks

What do you mean by stable state? What are you flashing? I'm running the current stable loStKernel and I can click the App drawer pages just fine in Go Launcher EX. I assume you're running the stock TouchWiz launcher?

I am using lostkernel in the Starburst ROM, and I don't have this problem.

I don't use the Touchwiz launcher either but switched to it for a test.
I'm on the Latest LOS stable kernel. With TouchWiz Launcher. On Home screen dots work fine but in App drawer they do not work.
I normally use launch Pro and it doesn't have the Dots and it is just and endless scroll of apps but wanted to test it and you are correct.

Are you referring to experimental version with overclock?

no i am talking about the stable version and yes i am using stock touchwiz at the moment. good to hear that at least someone else has this problem. so it appears to be a problem between touchwiz and the LoStKernel. i am on a stock pulled kernel right now after getting rid of the yellow triangle and have no los. i ran the eg30 plus for a little while but got los once a day at least. so lostkernel was working great except for this app drawer issue. so i guess if i use a different rom with a different launcher with lost kernel i will be fine. to bad there is this one problem. thanks everyone for the responses.

[Q] Epic 4G Back Button Problem

Ok so i am aware that Samsung Epic 4G has back button problem but mine seems overall weird the only time it does not respond is when i go into my contacts. Everytime i try to use the back button for anything else it works fine. So i had two different roms to make sure it was not a bug and so seems to me as it is not. I ran the Nebula ROM now i am running the Midnight Rom and so still have the same problem. So i am just thinking if i should go to the sprint store and have them look at it? Any ideas? or Help would be appreciated!
Same boat
Mine does it also, it doesn't do it all the time but it is annoying.
I'm pretty sure this is a ROM specific problem. I had it too when I ran Nebula ROM. I'm now on Bonsai 1.1.4 and it works fine in contacts. You should search the development forum.
I thought this was a problem with Launcherpro??
I'm using LP on Bonsai and I don't have the problem.
Well as soon as I get home I try bonsai rom and see if it fixes the problem
yes bonsai rom does not have the problem so thank you guys for all the help
Isn't midnight based off of neubula?

First, can you make your title more clearer...Like EI22 rotation lag?
And second, try the calibration again. I haven't seen mention of this yet, but if more users show up with it then I am sure someone will make a lag fix on it.
Well I'll throw my vote in on this... I have lag and hor. cal. doesn't do it.

Have you tried doing the horizontal calibration with the screen upside down? That used to fix my rotation lags on froyo. Something about using it with the screen facing up always made it lag instead of fixing it.. If that don't work u might have to try using terminal emulator and see if that helps.

See Gingerbread Horizontal Calibration and these posts: my calibration question and jbadboy2007's response and jt1134's rebuttal.
The short story is that there is no known calibration method for GB, whether on a stock-based ROM or AOSP, such as CM7.
* Note: jt1134 is one of the CM7 devs, therefore I feel pretty confident he knows what he's talking about. I'm pretty sure jbadboy2007 is experienced as well.
Did you experience lag on froyo at all or is this a new thing?

I don't know if you're addressing the OP or me (probably OP), but I'll go ahead and tell ya I had rotation lag with a couple of different Froyo ROM flashes.
using the /system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha I was always able to minimize the lag, though if I had a number of different home screens filled with apps it would still lag a bit more than a virgin ROM flash (not unexpected).
The "new thing" is that now there is no known fix for rotation lag*, which sucks.
* At least with CM7. The sensorcalibutil_yamaha fix may still work with stock-based ROMs in GB, I've just never tried any GB except for CM7.

I tried the /system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha cmd with terminal emulator. Says the cmd is not found :-(
Bringing this thread back I guess, instead of making a new one. I'm having a big issue with 2-3 second rotation lag. Tried the upside down horizontal calibration and no go. Just throwing my hat in the ring in hopes that someone will find a fix.
There was a thread opened for the issue.
Refer to the link below.
Hope it helps!

From the original thread:
* For other GB ROMs the fix should be basically the same, though I would recommend using the framework.jar from that specific ROM. (Maybe other, more experienced devs would like to shed some light on this topic? Would this framework.jar or flashable .zip be safe to try with other GB ROMs?)
So it may be usable...
Bumping this. Rotation lag is the most annoying issue with GB thus far

It might work it will break some things though, and he said the fix should be the same, meaning what he did should be the same to fix lag on other ROMs. Which it is.

Did not work for me...
Bumping this again. Praying that someone can make a fix for this issue. It is plaguing my experience. Otherwise it is outstanding. I repeatedly tried the upside down calibration and it has not worked.
The framework.jar from my rom has the fix. Take that file and then calibrate on a flat surface.

That's weird, I'm actually on your V4 ROM now. I could possibly reflash. Or I guess I could just drop that file over the old one, that's prob easier. Or maybe time to upgrade to V5 huh. Thanks for the response.

Ok so, wow. I dropped the same framework.jar I already had over the old one, and the calibration tool in settings> display works. Very weird. But someone should mark this as solved in case it needs to be done separate from flashing a ROM.

ROM questions

I've tried to read through the ROM's threads but I was wondering... Which ROM's are yall running that will let you change/tweak the notification toggles (like 4g, bluetooth, rotation, etc)? That's the main thing I'm looking for in a ROM.. I found it listed in TNz blended but couldn't find any others... thanks
Calkulin v2.8.1 EL29 base. Not sure about the others. Been a fan of calks work since I had my moment on sdx developers.

I flashed Calk's ROM but I can't figure out how to change the quick settings in the notifications menu.... a little help or a point in the right direction?

ya know, i may be mistaken on this one. i cant change mine either. if you swipe it left/right, itll move, but you cant remove/change their position. i use all of em, so i guess its been a non issue for me. sorry for the bad info, dood.
is there no quick settings in your app drawer? sorry I havent been on calks in a while. if there is you can from there.
Maddoggins does, mine and I think the xperia one may too...
Blah.. i just went back to stock for now... the stability, battery life and speed on stock TW are good enough to make up for not having a few little tweaks...

Hi All,
Just flashed Calk's 2.9 rom and noticed that when i go to the stock browser on the five icons on home, it turns off my screen, Only way to gain functionality of the phone again is to hold power button and reboot. Not sure if its due to flashing a new modem FB21. Anyone else experience this?

Just switched back to his default GO Launcher, and it works fine for me. Also works fine from Launcher Pro.
Does you screen cut out when you select the default browser grin the app drawer, too?
The answer may be to try flashing again...

[SOLVED] Losing app settings after reboot on JB

Ok, maybe someone has an idea here:
I started installing custom roms on my HOX a few weeks ago, and started with InsertCoin (ICS) because of the stability. Everything worked - this is my goto Nandroid backup, and I'm going back to it a lot. Now I've been playing around with Jelly Bean roms, specifically LorD's Ice Cold Jelly 0.7 AOKP and tbalden's CM 10 Alpha 1.2.
I had a couple of problems with the former, and everything seems to work fine with the latter, except a very strange issue I have with both. For some reason, a reboot resets all my apps' setting. This is most in the Launcher (Nova AND Apex, same problem), where all the widgets I have added disappear after every reboot, and my custom keyboard choice, Swiftkey. After every reboot, swiftkey is disabled, and the stock keyboard is back.
Since everything works fine with ICS, I've been thinking maybe there is some security setting or the like that prevents my changes from being saved?
I'd appreciate any ideas - I really like Jelly Bean!
I'm using CM10 Alpha 1 v2 from tbalden and don't have any of this problems. I'm using Trebuchet though, so maybe it's a launcher-based problem?
Greetings

I just checked. Trebuchet also loses widgets after reboot for me. Is it possible that it's just some apps that aren't JB-ready yet that are reset every time (like Advanced Clock Widget, for example)?
This is from the 'Issues' section of both of those ROMs:
Some paid apps loses settings/acconts due to this android jellybean problem: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=34880 Solution is to backup with Titanium Backup and restore to internal memory, not to sd

I dunno, it could be the issue very clearly explained in the threads for both of those ROMs given it's exactly what you're complaining about.
I know, that would have required reading the clearly marked 'Issues' section for the ROM you were about to flash, and that would have been far too much effort.
