[Q] Lagging while locked - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed yesterday the AceSMod007 (Sense2.1+3 | GB2.3.3 | Stable | A2SD+) [STOCK | CM7] [v40 | 10/10] ROM with CM7 hboot and while the Sense 3 lockscreen works as it should, after the phone sleeps and screen turns off then it lags a lot until it unlocks again. If I lock and unlock it immediately it is ok. All animations and sounds smooth etc. But if I leave it for a few minutes it's like it slows down and needs a few seconds to wake up again. Then everything lags, it's unresponsive and I might miss an incoming call occasionally since it freezes.
When I get incoming call the whole thing freezes, the ringtone is interrupted and everything is non-responsive until the phone wakes up again and works as it should. What's wrong with that?

Change governors in cpu settings of this rom (don't know where it is because I never used this rom) to ondemand in screen off and on profiles. Or doesn't this setting exist?

I have CPU master free 2.0.3, you mean I change it from there? It doesn't have separate profiles for screen on and off, only some smartass, lagfree etc profiles.

According to this screenshot, you have a profiles tab with the option to set a screen off profile:

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
.
Did you enable this profile? If yes, what are your settings?

Profiles feature is not available in the free edition

I downloaded no-frills CPU, set ondemand and bfq and it's solved. When an incoming call comes it wakes up without lag and plays nicely.
Where can I find more info about bfq etc and the difference between those?

Best app for controlling cpu is setcpu imho. Can be downloaded for free from xda if you are an xda member.
Don't know where you can find out more about that.

[Q] Whats Your A100 & A500 Benchmark Score?

After rooting, unlocking bootloader, flashing Flex http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589034 my score is 2729. Runs real nice now.

Here is mine with flexreapers with his a100 tweaked kernal (so i can control the cpu max feq for power saving)
Only setting out of the ordinary i have enabled is Force GPU rendering (just experimenting with things to see how well it all works0

very nice, what app are u using to tweak the cpu? if you wouldnt mind posting what runs smoothest with no crash. basically a limit threshold. with crossix sd mod i only got up to 2744
I got up to 2830 using set cpu and performance governor with flex rf1. On my usual interactive it got a hair lower, 2790-2800 over 4 runs. Overall I seem to pull about 2750 averaged out. Rf1 isn't any faster then my 3.1 but I was already using the kernel in rf1 ( i think anyways, it was the second kernel he released for 3.1) on it, which did boost the score up about 300 points.
Edit: my bad I used antutu cpu master not set CPU

How do you turn on force GPU? No option like that in the menus. And does it cause any problems?
Its under developer towards the bottom of user interface. None that I've noticed so far, but I've only had it enabled for about 3 hours of use.

anyway to speed up screen transitions? best kernel control app?

i was disappointed with the lag on the nexus but then i switched kernels to Trinity and now it's smooth. However the screen transition is still slow for me. Is there a way to control this?
Since i'm new to the Nexus, it seems that every kernel has their own control app. Is there a master control app? Do I need to match each kernel to its own app?
You mean the switching home page transitions (side to side) or window animation?

if you are using setcpu, or are controlling your cpu speed with anything, set the governor to ondemand then sampling rate 15000 and upthreshold to 98% that should speed up your screen transitions. personally, i dont like the screen animations, so i used an app called spare parts(comes with many roms too, free in the market) to disable animations. now the transitions are very quick. come to think about it, it has a speed menu for transitions too..

screen transitions when opening apps. totally forgot about spare parts, gonna try it out. just bought Trinity Rom's control app, very cool configs in there.
This is in the stock settings menu> developer options> transition speed.

core control, system tuner, setcpu, no frills.. none working

Hi,
The title says it all.. they are not working.. I am using ARHD with stock kernel.. each of them reset the values to default on waking up, reboot, or randomly, or an app pushes the on demand limit..
What I want to do is to limit the clocks to 640 ( or 10000 at least) on daily use..

This is a known issue with Tegra 3. At some low level, those values are governed by the CPU. Whatever you set them to, doesn't stick. Only governor and IO Scheduler sticks.
However, this doesn't mean that your CPUs work at the maximum possible frequency all the time. The Tegra architecture manages the CPU frequencies and you see a distribution of times at different frequencies.

EDIT: There is one thing you can do. Using SetCPU, under Advanced tab, you will see Powersave Bias (0-1000). Set to 0 on mine. If you set it to 400, your CPU will never go above 1000-1100 depending on how many CPUs are online. I am not sure if this will stick though. If you test it, let us know.

[SCRIPT] Governor scaling

Governor scaling
by FloHimself
Script details :
This script basically tells the phone what CPU Governor use while the screen is on either ON state or OFF state. So, you can now choose two different governors to rule your phone when you're using it and when you're not.
The script also provides some tweaks to each governor to make it more battery saving when the screen is OFF, and more responsive when the screen is ON. I've simply made some changes to make it compatible with our Galaxy Young.
Requirements :
A rooted phone
A kernel with init.d support
Busybox installed
Installation :
Do a backup of your phone, in case of a bootloop or something else - optional
Download the attached zip and put it in your SDcard
Install the zip through your recovery
Reboot your phone
How to change default governors :
Using Root Explorer (or a text editor from your computer), go to system/etc/init.d and open S98governor_scaling. Then, navigate to the line where it says : "Selection of Awake Governors:" and delete the # symbol of the desired "governor". If the governor you use isn't on the list, please add the exact name in between of " " and remove the # at the beginning of it.
The same procedure should apply for the Sleep Governor (see the screenshot below).

}
Notes :
Only keep ONE governor uncommented at a time
Default chosen governors are : SmartassV2 (when the screen is ON) and Conservative (when the screen is OFF)
I'm not responsible by any damage (which is almost impossible to happen) occured to your phone

[Q] CPU governor broken ?

Hello, so here's my situation.
I'm on a Galaxy S4 Mini, running Lollipop 5.1. Everything was fine with my kernel, until i finally discover that it was acting weird..
I was usually setting the governor as conservative, with a maximum frequency of 1350mhz. The problem is that it is effective for the core n°1, but the core n°2 randomly gets online and jump all the way at higher speeds than the limit I've set. Usually 1400 up to 1700mhz. Which makes my phone running hot and draining fast..
I tried to change the hotplug settings to make only core N°1 online, but when I do that, the core runs at 100% (1350mhz which is the limit I've set) all the time.
The only solution I've found ATM to not drain my battery is to set the governor to powersave and locking it to 700mhz.. But it's a crappy solution since the frequency stays at the same state all the time with that governor.
-- EDIT --
Now I'm setting the cpu at 162 min and 810mhz max, with conservative. The big problem is that whenever the phone is awake, it runs almost full time at full load (810 mhz) and never scale down the frequency, just see the screenshot.. This is obviously ruining battery life. Why the hell is it doing this ? Isn't conservative made to use the lowest possible frequency as often as it can ?

Do you have any idea on why this problem is occurring ? Thanks
