I don't know how this works but I've tested it twice and both times it works!
I'm on teshxx stock rom.
How to get a transparent lockscreen like this below:
1. Set a picture from your gallery as your lockscreen
2. Boot into recovery (adb or volup + voldown + power)
3. Advanced > Fix permissions
Voila you should have an transparent lockscreen.

I don't think I'll be using this mod, but I must say that is a very cool design. Thanks for your contribution.

Easier way would be to just use a picture that is half transparent...
That's what I do and you don't need to reboot into recovery ect.

Awesome find OP. Worked perfectly for me.
Haha. I was playing with my phone yesterday and in the process got the transparent lockscreen, and I could not figure out how I did it, but now I know because I did a wipe and fixed permissions before it happened. Thanks OP.
awesome did the trick
thanks a lot.
None of this is really needed, just get a transparent image from google or use a photoshop to make one and set it as the lockscreen wallpaper.
M&S
What img format do I save it as for 50% transp?? I tried a png but it just shows up black in the gallery and after I set it.

Are you using TW Launcher??
sir,plz upload cwm flashable zip for TRANSPARENT STATUS BAR only for xwki8 2.3.5
thank you....
Can you please share method for transparent statusbar? I want to apply it to my own rom. Thanks.
I will share galaxy Gio SystemUI with transparent and semi transparent statusbar, without any patch , just rename the file to be SystemUI.apk, push to system/app, and you can use root eksplorer set permissions to rw-r-r and root-root for owner and than reboot.
If you like my work, hit thanks buttons
NB: - In ADW, go to ADW settings and uncheck wallpaper hack
- It's not appear in theme that use backgraund Statusbar
- I has changes in SystemUI, you can check out
Is the clock in the center? Or just on the right where it belongs. .
[edit]
Clock is centered, but so is the date. So it looks fine.
But it's not transparent. Same problem I had with all the other files. It must be the theme I am using (ice10ni1c.apk). In other themes it is transparent.
Too bad. I love ICS theme, but would love to have a transparent bar.

Default tramsparent NOT TESTED but you can try and add screenshot clock in right side

No I didn't forgot about that. Wich I share is original CM7 Gio SystemUI with transparent statusbar, so then it's up to app, launcher and theme that has been apply, or would want to remain transparent in the cover by wich the apply. Correct me if I'm wrong

I've downloaded and replaced the SystemUI.apk from Cy4noobsMod-7.1.3.1 ROM with the Cm7 semi transparent statusbar for galaxy gio
the problem is that the notification bar disappeared completely from the phone's screen.
i have the original kit of the Cy4noobsMod-7.1.3.1 ROM on my sd card and i extracted the SystemUI.apk file and replaced the semitransparent one that i have previously copied to system/app . i have rebooted the phone, but no luck, the notification bar is still missing.
any suggestions and ideas are welcomed

I was suggested to use the original CM7 rom first
Love the semi-transparent version. However I prefer the digital clock to be completely white, that makes it easier to look

You need to set the file's permissions as suggested by author then reboot

Thanks to the post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23385681&postcount=5 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23492678&postcount=6 , we're able to get the Acer lockscreen on our A100/A101.
The Ring icon appears on the action bar, but pressing it doesn't do anything, I think its because the screen resolution is not compatible (Acer Ring made for 1280x800 A500/A501 or A200).
Already tried changing the LCD density but still no effect.
So far we can only get the lockscreen, but it's a big timesaver since we can pin 4 shortcuts to the lockscreen, and we are able to remove the camera shortcut which is hardcoded in vanilla ICS lockscreen.
Instruction:
1. Download AcerRing.apk from http://db.tt/DjOdDptj
2. Copy AcerRing.apk to /system/app/
3. Add these lines to build.prop:
Code:
acer.shell.mode=ENABLED
acer.shell.launcher.mode=ANDROID
acer.shell.contacts.mode=ENABLED
4. Reboot!
Just tried this out and it works perfectly, very slick indeed, not sure I like the omission of the Roboto-styled lockscreen clock, but that's fine
The lockscreen works great, no problems, I have the ring enabled, just because it looks nice on my status bar
Great work, thanks!

Did you make sure that the permissions were the same as the surrounding apps? You can change the permissions with a long press in root explorer. Permissions for my AcerRing.apk are read for all three groups and write for owner.

here is the .apk for the semi-transparent weather widget. It's made to match the digital clock. i been using this with the stock rooted ics rom. i would show a screenshot but the i'm having trouble capturing a screenshot on a stock rom. amazing how i took that feature for granted when i had the option available in the advanced power menu in other roms.
just make sure to set the permissions to rw-,r--,r--
Almost forgot... this might go without saying for some.. but this gotta be pushed using root explorer. Don't try to install normally

what i did was use root uninstaller app to remove the older one. there are 2 accuweather apps remove the one that is bigger in size. then use root explorer to drop the app in the system/app folder. reboot your phone and the app should be installed perfectly.
now simply add the new widget.:good:

Here you go its a zip of RazrHD keys and white glow all customizable via rom navi settings. It has the glow but jus disable via rom. Or pull out before making zip. I have only tested zip via Zip Themer app. You can do it manually if u choose.
Jus in case ur not familiar with app.
Download/open app)settings/update edify to current rom zip)theme/choose soft key zip)build/always make undo...enjoi use at own risk. but have tested with this method on all vanir roms and many others and ALWAYS works.

Yup ... Def takes care of thing like this and is very easy to use wit aligning zips.
Go to play store and type in zip themer and follow directions from link post and you'll be 100. Sorry for confusion. U could also do it manually by extracting PNG files. But I def like using the app.

thanks and sorry for being a noob
OK
1) open app/ hit 3dot/settings
2)update edify
3)hit browse
4)find and choose the edify.zip and or your Rom zip
5)hit configure
6)should say success/ hit back
7)hit theme/
8)press green arrow and choose SOFTKEY. zip
If u have multiple mods u want added after the first one hit theme + again and choose 2nd zip
9)press build/ always make undo(to go back when ever you want)wait til done
10)reboot recovery and look for SOFTKEY/LOCK ICON update zip and flash...DONE / REBOOT
There will also be a undo zip for later use.
Really hope this helps. This will work for 99% of mods so long as u update edify for each ROM.
