I agree. This app is garbage. I deleted a friends number and and tested it. He is from Maryland. This thing is telling me Texas...

I also use this app and have had no problems with it.

To have two phones connected to one line. Sharing the same minutes, data usage and txt msgs?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Its illegal...but yes
It is called cloning a device. They used to do it for pagers but that is a major difference. Doubt you will find anyone to do it for a cell phone but theoretically it could be done.

Ok, so on the most current Miui build Wifi works and voice calling isn't quite there yet. How would I go about setting something like this up? Do I need to get a specific app?

More accurately, it is called Voice Over Internet Protocol. Goole voice is a specific service that uses the protocol, similar to the issue of Kleenex being a specific brand of tissue paper.
I like to clear up confusion before it gets too far - we Americans have redefined too many words out of ignorance and fallacious assumptions as it is ;-)
@John - I haven't looked at VoiP solutions for Android in several months, but GrooveIP was a great app to use Google Voice for this purpose. At the time that I discovered it myself, the official Google Voice app didn't support voice calls on Android, so the only free way I had found involved an intermediary internet number (called a DID number, using a SIP account... it gets convoluted and confusing too damn fast, and wasn't very stable... plus, all of the free SIP providers I could find seemed to shut down around the end of June, for some reason).
What are you trying to accomplish? The only use that readily comes to my mind is to avoid using limited anytime minutes by using unlimited data instead - I rooted a friend's phone for this purpose, because his girlfriend always tore through all of their minutes in the first week of the month, then *****ed at him when she was unable to call him (obviously, the *****ing came later that evening, lol) I should explain that they're on a prepaid provider that doesn't do any free mobile to mobile minutes, etc. Just re read you4r last post more closely, answering my own question
And I mistyped one part - google voice didn't support outbound calls, lol - one word makes all the difference. Actually, I think the issue was that outbound calls used minutes you have to purchase... it wasn't the ideal situation for my friend's budget...
Anyway, my friend also had an Evo that he was unable to flash to Virgin, so I initially tested on that using just a wifi connection. It works great, and actually save my ass one night when a bad flash rendered my Epic unusable, and I couldn't get to my laptop for another 10 hours. I found a McDonald's or Starbucks with the free hotspot service whenever I needed to make or receive a call
EDIT: I am doubting the accuracy of my statements... but I am certain that GrooveIP does not need an active mobile network and does not eat up minutes, because Virgin doesn't do free incoming calls (at least not on their lowest Android plan). So I may have some details mixed up, but GrooveIP will work.
I should mention that GrooveIP was a $4 app when I set my friend up, no trial version to be found either
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I guess I was trying to find a way to make calls using the most current Miui build. It only works on Wifi and when I make or receive a call you can't hear anything so I was hoping I could ring a roundabout way while they are working on it. Thanks for the thorough response.

Best security app ever for EPIC4GT

Sorry for the shameless self promotion. But my Security app Root Defense was developed on the Epic 4G touch and unlike any other security app out there, it will allow you to continue to track your phone even if it gets wiped or a hard-reset by a thief.
It's almost impossible to lose your phone and it's completely free. You can subscribe if wanted for additional logging goodies.
It requires that you have a rooted phone (as most people have on XDA)
Please try it out and rate and comment on Google Play if you like it.
The Google Play page can be found here:

Yeah, Cerberus was a program created after ours that has many of the same features. Even including the 5 licenses for the price of one.
Root Defense comes with many many more features though and no user interface on the phone.
Basically its still free but with more features and a stealthier install.
Also ours shows the existing data of logs and location from before a phone went missing so you aren't in the dark when your device is off

if this thing actually works for $4 a month being able to monitor a phone discreetly with the options listed, its actually a kick ass deal
i cant get it to work myself though, it locks on hitting reboot on the install process

Not emails, but most definitely texts, phone calls, and location. I'm not bashing this, just curious as to the advantages. I was one of the lucky ones who got Cerberus for free when they were doing the giveaway, just was wondering if it was worth... "upgrading"?

Root defense also is free and survives wipes and all the features the $4 a month is only if you wish to keep the logging features. All actually security features are free and always will be.
One of the major differences if the our free edition vs Cerberus is that our free version also keeps track of the last known coordinates.
What this means is that if your phone was stolen or lost and was either turned off or ran out of battery. Our product would show you where it last was and when it was there. Cerberus won't be able to show you anything as it needs to connect to the device each time to read data.
This is true of most fee or one-time fee programs because that's how they can afford it. In order to be helpful to people off-line, you need to store the data in a database which will quickly incur cost to developers (especially storing MMS messages.)
Anyway, different stroke for different folks. But keep in mind that after the trial ends, you still have (any always will have) all the free version features.
New version just released, check our main thread for details.

With StarStar Me, you can use your name, nickname, or handle as your phone number. Instead of giving out 10 hard-to-remember digits, provide the people you meet with a memorable mobile number, like **SARAH, that distinguishes you from the crowd.
To sign up for StarStar Me, Sprint customers can simply call **ME (**63). The service costs $2.99/month per StarStar Me number. Sprint subscribers can have two StarStar Me numbers per mobile phone number.

This would have been cool in 1995. We have infinite contact lists these days. Besides, this only works on Sprint for now. Who actually dials phone numbers anymore except for the one time initially creating the contact? This is especially true now that we have portable numbers.

I think he post just for fun nothing to do with proud thing
Cause I use more data than he does and not even one month.two more weeks left
I was pretty surprised that I've used close to amount (last I checked a few days ago, 50GB). No tethering no Torrenting. But it seems that the Gallery likes to use nearly 2GB of data in the background every time I set up a new ROM or Reflash. That plus all the Roms and re downloading of apps from the Store. And more recently, the purchase of a couple HD movies and a hand full of re downloads of the Avengers movie.
77Gb on HSPA+? Come to my area Whole brooklyn gets like 0-0.20Mbit, Loading Netflix or Youtube is virtually impossible here. Called T-mobile they said they're fixing tower, well 4 Months and still fixing it? Good thing I have pre-paid I can cancel any time
