Remove 60FPS Limit? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Is there any possibility on removing the 60FPS limit that is on our devices? I know our devices can do more than 60FPS!

Im sure there is a way, it was done on the EVO 4g.

What would be the point since you can't see a difference?

Are you sure that SAMOLED+ has a 60hz refresh rate? Because if not, we might be able to. 75hz isn't all that uncommon.
Also: Even if you can't see it, more often then not you can feel it.

I used to be a WoW geek back in the day, and I'm here to tell you, you can definitely see a difference between 60fps and 75fps...

Is there really a limit? I get over 60fps during parts of quadrant

Yes there is a limit. On Quadrant you will notice it never gets over 62, even though the limit is 60 there is some play but we should have well over 60.

pretty sure I've seen over 62 but I could be wrong,
goes to overclock and run more quadrant

The only problem is I am not sure if its limited in the CPU or GPU so overclocking may not help much.

As I stated the overclock will only boost CPU section of Quadrant therefore the FPS never goes over 60 FPS as its an illusion of when its switching from 60 to 50. I ran multiple tests and OC only boosted CPU. Boosting FPS would improve 3d scores.

I've got set CPU cranked up to 11 (1700 MHz+) Latest Synergy Kernel, 3.6.5 ROM (Domination) and I feel like I'm not even close.

You know, Close to their scores. I don't mean to be a speed queen but I thought we had one of the speediest phones around and then I see mine compared to 380 other people with what appears to be a stock speed version of the same phone I can't help but wonder why mine is slow in comparison.

The Question is ... Do you care about Exynos and synthetic benchmark scores or do you want 4g speed? The Exynos can't do 4g (42meg +) as of yet ..
Is your phone fast enough for you in daily use? <-- This is all that really matters.
Why do people here get so obsessed with benchmark numbers?

SetCPU profiles?

Hello all... I'm new to Setcpu and have been able figure out how to OC and UV while still keeping everything relatively stable. As of now I'm experimenting with making profiles, I was wondering if someone could post a screen shoot of their profiles and pass on any advice. I am running TNZ Blend 2.6.2 with the Hitman kernel. Here's a screen shot of what I have so far.

The only thing I would comment on is your "screen off" there is no reason for it to be scaling/jumping from 800-1200 "ondemand" while the phone is not being used or the screen is off in general, just have 800 low and high or have 800 as your high and set it to "performance" so that there is no polling being done and it will set itself to the high value which would still be 800 anyway.
You might have a reason for that setting, just trying to save you a little bit more of battery juice.
Definitely bring down that screen off! I have mine set to 200-500 ondemand. I'm sure it'll save you a lot of battery. Also the battery 100% is kinda pointless because that's what the main profile is for. And expect your phone to get extremely hot if you use it while charging since you have it overclocked. I did that same mistake now I keep it at 200-800 to avoid the over heating.

Just a recommendation...you should give tegrak a go. I find it to be much more beneficial than setcpu...
Why scale cpu depending on the battery level? I prefer scaling CPU on my phone by the temperature. 1.6Ghz normal usage and then gradually scale it down if it gets too hot. I bought this phone for its performance, not battery life, which actually is pretty amazing for such powerful device.

be careful with Tegrak, as it doesn't work with some of the non stock kernels, and will freeze your phone for sure..
Pretty good. You don't need the battery>100% profile. Adjust that from the main page.

Yikes! I wasn't aware of that. Guess I'll do a bit more research on that before I fire out recommendations. Note to self...not all devices have the same setup as yours

CPU Overclocking Efficiency

Recently I've decided to overclock CPU and evaluate efficiency in term of speed by using one of the famous and best FRANCO KERNEL.
So I've captured 1 minute 1080p raw video with stock settings (no mods or hacks to mediaprofile.xml file) and rendered file in Google Movie Studio in 1920x1080 aka 1080p format and High quality.
Consequently, the results were as follows:

As you can see the most efficient OC frequency is 1305Mhz. All above are way slower, cause CPU gets hotter and efficiency decreases.
Yes, do admit overall smoothness is by far better in comparison to stock kernel, but as you can see overall efficiency is not a deal breaker.
Maybe try the version with the overclocked gpu. I think this can have a big impact, I mean on the PC most of the work is done by the gpu so I could be that it's similar on our phones

it's said that the difference is so minuscule, the 512mhzoverclock isn't worth battery loss. I'm not talking about relative to Franco, the device's stock gpu frequency is 304. But if you see it that way, to each his own.

Unless the GPU has built-in hardware encoding or decoding for the particular codecs involved, and it's actually being used by the software, it won't play any part in video rendering.

Wth 6000-8000 quadrant

Ok so I know quadrant isn't everything but please tell me why I have a stock att ogp with the lag of an optimus t? Did a factory reset and still the same thing. I let go of my HTC one for this device...I love it but what gives? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
When I first got my OGP I was getting 7-8000 on quadrant, but I certainly wasn't experiencing any OS lag. So if you happen to be from stock, there may be something especially wrong with your phone or there is something causing it issues. I originally had a corrupted SD Card on mine that caused some terrible lag issues for the day I did not know it was corrupted. Currently I nail 12,000s on my quadrant scores. I run the April factory OS without value pack, as the value pack seemed to cause some framerate slowdown in games and a lower quadrant score for me. My OS is de-bloated, and thermal mitigation is off (you can find this setting in your hidden menu). It helps to run Quadrant with a 60% brightness or lower starting the benchmark with a cold phone.
I have both the htc one and the OGP and my One scores a 2450 on geek bench 2 while my OGP hits 3000~. Granted my OGP is rooted and I use the performance governors but still they have identical SoC.
Do you have quad core optimizer on by chance? Also do you run this on a clean boot?
Yeah it's on but what I did was flash the telcel firmware and everything was just fine. It was like night and day! No stuttering or lag of any kind!

I'm on E988 stock rom and got 12,000 in quadrant. Just rooted. Nothing modified.

It's crazy though. Whenever I open quadrant, and look at system info it says my cpu speed max is 1728 but it runs at 1132 until I enable the thermal mitigation and it will read 1728. I'm on the telcel firmware and I can't find the High temperature property in the dial pad menu.

When I was stock, I ran an 11,5XX on quadrant. When I rooted and ran the stock ROM that's debloated and optimized I broke 12,000.
On my last two AOSP ROMs the phone feels so much lighter(os) but I only score down around d 8,000

Hi Guys
Has anyone checked the frequency the cores run at yet? Mine doesn't seem to go above 1.59 Ghz (checked using Better Battery Stats and CPU X). Antutu score was also low. Something doesn't seem right here.
OK, scratch that. I used the Quallcom Trepn app and that showed the cores firing up to 2.2. Still don't know why Antutu is low (113000)

Hi.
Try enable max CPU in developer options. ( or something like that ).
I did , mine jumped from 113000 to 136000.

I'm having the same issue with my Antitu score. The funny thing is, I get a higher score with performance mode turned off!
Heat Problem.
The phone throttles down.
Put it Into the fridge if you want a higher number.

It would most definitely eat up more battery. It's good for running (relatively useless) benchmarks, but certainly not meant for everyday use.
