Anyone tried ustream? - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Not the viewer and broadcaster seperate apps, the one. which has it all but into one. Im not sure if my live broadcast is working so can anyone comfirm the live broadcast working. I have no way to check its working. Also i find that using skyfire to watch ustream has better quality video but for me, the sound lags behind on skyfire. My videos upload after so it may be working but im not sure. I have very weak 3g signal so if it does work, it will be laggy for me.

I dont think the evo can stream everything as of yet. Mostly videos, music, and pictures that are on the sd card. Could be wrong though.

Because Sprint's 3G is terrible...
Loving the EVO but compared to my buddies on Verizon our 3g is awful.
4G doesn't do much good for most of us.
Ugh... I will give sprint another 6 months to see if they can really come through.
On a related note, I was able to stream youtube through the HDMI on 2.1... don't know about 2.2 b/c I'm on CM6 (no way I'm going with the official froyo since I don't have 4g in NY)
I stream from iPhonemoviez.net through hdmi on 3g regularly, but its with the pop up streaming media player. The other website is flash and it doesnt give me the option to choose player because its embedded I guess. Just thought there might me a fix.

[Q] video calling to pc on htc evo?

Hey everyone one of the main reasons I got the evo is for video calls to my mom who is abroad. Unfortunately this is not as easy as I thought or I'm a total idiot. My mom has a Skype premium account I have no computer or Skype. I tried fringe, and qik but can't get either to work.
I really need step by step instructions on how to set this up my mom can do programs but unfortunately qik and fringe are mobile only so please someone tell me how to do this
fring doesn't have permission to use Skype anymore so that will not work with Skype.

Please read the rest of the thread where I asked what program I can use for video calling
I was just telling ya that's why fring doesn't work, you in case someone comes on here asking the same.. but I personally don't know of any programs. sorry

I'm interested in this as well. I had video calling working back when Fring and Skype played like nice kids on the playground but we know how that went. They both even mass emailed pointing the finger at each other.
Sometimes you need to see a face. My Dad lives 3,300 miles away and there is a possibility my exwife gets full custody of my kids and moves away. I use Gmail video chat on my desktop, but apparently Google didn't think it was a priority feature for Android phones sporting a front camera. I'm hoping all the iphone video chat hype steers Google into incorporating this into Gingerbread.
Anyone have an alternative?
If fringe or qik were downloadable on pc that would be a solution I'm also wondering why we don't have Skype mobile available to us
And another dream...
Somebody should make a face time emulator that is able to accept face time calls. Or just a working video chat app. Whichever comes first.
I like ooVoo. Works great on the EVO and PC.
Oovoo works well wit PC to evo. I've used it several times n it works. Oovoo is the only one that works I think

Go on the app market n search oovoo

Here are two that work:
Yahoo Messenger and Ovoo
I'll have to try ooVoo. Until now the best I could come up with was a web cam app that wifi tethers the front camera to my pc running skype. The sound is no good though so i'd still have to make the phone call for audio. Was kinda cool to be able to walk around with the phone as a mobile web cam though

YouTube App "sorry there was a problem playing this video"

To start with im running a rooted evo (duh) and fresh evo 3.0.0.1
it was doing this prior to root..
It seems like no matter if i'm on wifi.. 4g.. or 3g.. the video constantly whether it be youtube or another video thats using the streaming media player.. it more than half the time will either give me a "sorry this video could not be played" error.. or the "sorry there was a problem playing this video"..
I've searched as much as i could bring myself to without going insane. So far i've read that stagefright settings could cause this. The cache not being cleared.. and that the youtube app just plain sucks..
So, what im trying to gather is first and foremost.. is this a known issue.. or is my phone messed?
thing i dont get if this is a known issue.. is this.. GOOGLE BUILT ANDROID.. and google flipping OWNS YOUTUBE.. why would is be an issue? lol
Any help would be great.. and if this is a known issue.. a sticky might be nice so others like myself dont go insane wondering why the iphone plays video flawlessly on youtube.. while the evo's youtube player simply sucks (so far from my experience.. )
please no flaming.. haha
79 views so far.. could someone at least post whether they're having the same issue or not? or someone they know? i assume i'm not the only one out there if theres that many people lookin at it in less than a day..
update though, i was running fresh evo 3.3.0.1... i am unrooting my phone now just to make sure its not something wonky with root.. i called sprint and talked to a rep, they said to just bring it in to see a tech.. honestly, side note.. the store where i got my phone from.. not the best customer service.. at all.. very short on the phone with every question.. etc.. blah. anyways.. ill keep updating as this moves forward.. hopefully this thread will help someone get some answers if i dont haha
Thanks..
The youtube app is crap. It has nothing to do with rooting. Until they offer an update you should use a browser to open the youtube videos. This will not trigger "a problem playing video" dialog crap.
I can't use the app for that same reason. Happens with certain videos, I think the ones that are "not optimized for mobile" or some such. I can watch them from my browser without issue.
I've been having the same issue for weeks now. I also have exclusively switched to watching videos in the browser. Never have a problem there. The YouTube app DEFINITELY needs an update. Especially with rewinding and fast forwarding videos.
ahhh good so its not just me. By using the browser do you mean loading it in desktop view? and playing via flash? im unrooted now and using dolphin HD.. much better browser imo.. however using the m.youtube.com site still crashes videos.. seems like any video i stream crashed out or can't play.. i'll try the desktop mode and see if i can get them to play in flash instead of the streaming media player..
Thanks
it must be the crappy roms you guys are using or you have poor coverage/reception/bandwidth.
The Youtube app works great for me. It plays everything in HD just fine. I used to have problems with it not playing videos on some older roms, but anything from the past couple months should be just fine.
I would die if I had to resort to using the browser to access Youtube.

The mobile youtube page isn't actually too bad - it's tons better then the regular youtube page, and is almost as usable as the app. But if you have stagefright set to false to fix pandora, then the mobile page won't work and you'll get that "could not be played" error.

I'm using the stock ROM, and have this problem.

Which video calling app do you prefer.?

Ok as the title states, which video calling app do you prefer.? Been using tango and its been reliable, and now I see oovoo, now has support for the gs2 as well, so what are your experiences please.
Been using only Tango and it does its job pretty good. Can't complain, if anyone knows other apps please share the hint
Yes tango for me as well has been amazing, been calling my wife on holiday in Africa and despite the poor network over there it has managed to work, and also now oovoo, seem to support the gs2 so will be putting it through the paces tomorrow when I cal my wife.
I use yahoo messenger. Fring looks pretty good as well with group video chat. Yahoo needs a special application from xda to work

Google Talk Video
is free, and it works like Skype 2
the only information, hard to gather from the use of these apps, is which is more data effeicient, i would put my money on google, being the native app, but its hard to tell, and am really feeling it, more so now that my wife is in a country, were data is very expensive.
Tango is brilliant

Have tried just about everything and every time I keep coming back to Tango.
So the answer is Tango. Reliable and best quality of them all.
skype ftw!! but only on desktop pc. i'll use whichever connects me to my gf, in this order.
Skype > Tango > Fring > gtalk(cuz she have an iphone so this is last)
last time i checked oovoo is not for sgs2 yet so i'm gonna try now.
Skype. Not because it's the best, but because everyone else already has it, and it supports both phone to phone, and phone to PC.
A lot of the other apps look really great, but it's a huge PITA making someone sign up for a service and install even more software just to talk to me.
Just a heads up oovoo, video calling now officially supports the gs2, haven't tried it myself but it looks promising.
tried it with my gf's iphone 4. voice is great but my sgs2 video will hang/stuck while my gf's image is smooth like a soap.
I use fring (it can connect to all my other msgrs except skype). The group video function is also very handy

Better Video Chat Option

Need a little help guys.
My daughter is out of state right now with her mom and we video chat daily. When using Skype on my mac with her, the video was great when I had FIOS. I recently and had to switch to Comcast. I noticed that the quality level in the video chat dropped even more.
Last night I tried Skype'g her from my phone. I had 4G and everything and the quality was horrible. We couldn't hear each other and the screen was only showing the left side of the screen instead of the whole screen.
Not sure what the issue seems to be. But Skype has gotten far worse. So what's the best Video Chat option for phone to phone, phone to PC and PC to Mac?
Google+ Hangouts work really good...if you havent tried that yet

Skype is good for computers/laptops but Tango has better video quality for phones.
