Fastboot enabled forgotten pin - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Ok, so I searched and searched for an answer but could not find one... I had forgotten my pin on my incredible 2 and fast boot was on, so I couldnt get into the bootloader. However, I figured out that if you push and hold volume down as the phone turns off you will get to the bootloader/hboot... I hope this will help someone else!
(Mods: if this is in the wrong place feel free to move it!)

Or you battery pull, cuz that cancels fastboot
Sent from my Droid Incredible 2 HD

I mean the fast boot in applications settings menu... A battery pull does not cancel that...

Yes, it does. Why not just try it? Everyone has made that mistake at least once.

I've done that a time or 2 battery pull DOES cancel fast boot

[Q] [HELP] Bricked? while trying to Unroot

Hey all -- I am an idiot, first and foremost.
I was running an older version of CM7 and just bought an Evo 3D. I decided to sell my Evo 4G online, and went to unroot it. I ran the original software RUU (1.06.651.4) on the phone, (because I am dumb and didn't think things through) and now it is semi-bricked.
Symptoms:
The phone turns on with only a black screen (it is "lit up" but nothing appears on the screen).
The phone vibrates once, then the phone plays a sound (a little tune) to indicate it is booting up.
The phone plays a sound to indicate a low battery warning.
The phone plays a sound to indicate when I connect the USB cable to it.
If I try to boot to bootloader by holding Vol-Down when powering up, the black screen appears with no sound and no further action.
If I try to re-run the RUU, or run a different RUU, I get a USB Connection Error.
I can't run an RUU, I can't flash anything because I have no access to Recovery, etc.
Can anyone help fix my stupidity? I shouldn't have rushed into unrooting. Damnit.
Mmm. Interesting situation. I don't think you're screwed though.
Try this.
Pull the battery and let it chill for a minute.
Put it back in
Try to boot into bootloader again by holding volume down key.
Hopefully it will allow you to boot into hboot.
Report back how that goes

Have done combinations of 'remove battery, let sit, reboot (into bootloader OR regular reboot)' since yesterday. No change.
Smash it and get a replacement

All of those require the ability to access the bootloader.
But thanks.

Dinc shuts off vibrates 5 times

My incredible can't stay on for long, it shuts off and vibrates 5 times, it sometimes randomly reboots until I have to pull the battery, is there a fix for this or is this phone junk?

See if your fix is in there. I saw that thread about a month or two ago, it may help.
It is a usb/sdcard brick. I had it happened to me when I tried the multi-rom setup. I had a bad internal partition that screwed it up. I finally fixed it after I found the one command sent via ADB or via terminal to re-enable sdcard reading and then you can flash the stock rom from root of your sdcard.
I think I found the info here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639
Here's another really good thread

Please, hard reboot your phone!

I believe that once you've done your first hard reboot on this phone the UI becomes permanently jumpy/choppy/laggy. Anyone?

every HTC / Samsung phone after restart, it takes them at least a good 1~2 minute to settle down

You've missed the "permanently" part.

i'll test that as soon as mine arrives next week, until then i can't verify much
No lag here after 2 reboots. One of which was pulling the battery after turning the phone off to get the serial number.

yeah, i remember you did that for the other guy, that was looking for the battery part number
By hard reboot I mean VolUp+Power. I'm not talking about powering off the phone.

that's technically a factory / ROM reset back to default
Exactly my point. It should be stutter free by default, right?

Why would you do that anyways??

Dude, I just spent the last two days getting the phone setup the way I want it...
When we get root and I can create a nandroid backup I'll try a factory reset
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Have you tried doing it again?
I have hard reset and factory reset my device at least 6 times without issue really. I had to do it the first time since I tried to port over 26000 texts it didn't seem to like that too much =)

Dude, it's different from Factory Data Reset. It doesn't erase affect your setup. Ok. How about a simple reboot - just by holding power button. Can you do that and tell me what happens?

My routine to make it relatively smooth: Power Off / Power on while holding VolUp+Power and waiting for it to vibrate a couple of times / Turn off display animations / Turn off wallpaper scrolling.

When you hard reboot it actually factory resets the data the reason its lagging cause its reinstalling all the Bloatware Tmobile put on it. So you need at least 5-7 minutes.
Ive already done a hard reset on my phone after receiving it and the reason was i had a issue with music on my sd card. I dont see the lag you speak of. If its persistent then get it replaced. I have no issues as of yet with the phone and its running great. My only slight issue is battery but that is most likely due to bloat.

Have done plenty of normal reboots via the power button (power off then power on) and pulling the battery. Mine is still quite a bit more snappy than the Vibrant it replaced.
Can somebody smash their phone for me and let me know if its damaged after? It seems all phones are damaged after they're smashed.
Seriously op, if you know it messes up the phone, why ask others to do it? Why would anybody do that anyways? Seems pointless.

I've smashed mine several times, one of which was even a sledgehammer dropped from a 3-story building right onto the glass. no damage here, it's actually less damaged than my MT4G was fresh out of the box
Sorry, just had to post the other side of things too lol

Constant reboot (A100)

I accidentally left Wifi Kill on while I fell asleep last night. I wake up to go to work today to my A100 frozen. I reboot it. It works for two seconds and reboots. Doesn't reboot all the way with the Acer boot screen, just the boot animation. If anyone can help, I would be very grateful. I will post a logcat if I can when I get home.
can you get to the recovery? I'd say if you can get a file on the external SD and flash it you should be good.
Was there a button combination? I'm not sure if adb reboot recovery worked. I know I used to be able to reboot into recovery with a terminal emulator. I'll try when I get home

I second that. If using one of the update.zip's doesn't work then you can always try a full restore.

Sweet. Thanks guys. That's what I would normally guess with my phone, but with the A100 lockdown, I was a bit lost. I'll give it the ol' hows your mother when I get home

i havent been able to open anything at all... i try to do a hard reset by pressing the volume up, home button and then the power button... it turns the screen off and it just vibrates once every 3-4 seconds .... and nothing shows...
When I first flashed that ROM the google logo was there for 15 minutes. Just reflash or be patient.
