Root has disappeared! - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hi, i rooted my E4GT successfully then i installed CWM and superuser then all of the sudden i try to download root tools and it says i don't have root. I installed Root Check from the market and it says my root is gone. What the heck happened? is their a way to fix this? Can i still flash ROM's via recovery?
please help
Thanks

RUSSIAN NYAN CAT.
Every spam thread in Development means 15 more minutes of this. Please, think of your fellow users. Don't make me post this again.
OP: search, read, and next time... post QUESTIONS in the QUESTION section. We're happy to help there. We'll flame you here.

Really dude..? Wtf

If you flashed the Stock + CWM you obviously didn't read that ROOT WILL BE GONE! Go ahead and flash busybox + superuser in Recovery.
BTW post this in General.

Ok, the question has been answered and the OP was told to post in the correct forum. Can we please avoid another 45 posts telling him the same thing?

I rather enjoy the Russian Nyan Cat video. I think I'll go ask a dumb question in the wrong forum too so that I can have my very own thread with this fantastic video!

GRRR evo!

ok i cae from a nexus one rooted and running MIUI mod. i came to the EVO hoping to do the same. i have root and recovery but every time i flash a rom i gt bootloop. help i dont know what to do now?
You probably aren't wiping data. Either that or the MIUI kernel isn't playing nice with your EVO. Try to flash one of the AOSP kernels without agressive undervolting. If that doesn't work, try one without HAVS altogether.
think you could post a link to this?
Wrong forum.
how is it wrong forum? its a developement question
Do you only get boot loops when you flash miui? Have you tried any other rom? Is your S-ON, S-Off? Did you use unrevoked method to root? Is your evo a 004?
yes i get booy loops on every rom and i believe it is off and i did use unrevooked and i have no idea how would i go forth of checking that?
what he means by wrong forum is that you posted a question in the Developer forum.. questions go in the questions forum.. and you can post questions about a particular rom in that roms' thread to get the best help..
and in this case thats not even hosted here at XDA..

Did you just get your phone recently? If so, you probably have a late 003 or the new 004 hw version. Check it in your settings/about phone/hardware info. Then try this guide (read the cautions): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829045.
i keep getting errors when i try to adb shell busy box. i dont understand why this is taking a couple days.
i gett the error when trying to adb shell busy box
- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: no such file or directory <2> -

What he means by wrong forum is that it's not yet another rom. There is no discussion of development that goes on in this forum. It's nothing more than a release and support forum, at best a collection of bug reports.

I'm not trying to be rude but some of u need to get a life. I mean if u have nothing better to do than to pop in and out of every thread telling people they posted in the wrong place I feel sorry for u. Either try and help or don't say anything and let the mods decide wether its in the wrong place or not. I used to love coming on here and talking, learning and sharing but some of u are just completely ruining it.

my guess is you arent s-off/nand unlocked. reboot into hboot. power off and the back on, while pressing the volume down button. the very top line will tell you whether it is on or off.

EvoNonsense4.3.1 Question

I guess my noobness on this forum prevents me from asking my question in the development thread, so I have no choice but to ask this here. I just installed the EvoNonsense4.3.1 ROM last night and I'm loving it! Very Cyanogen like but with some sense things still in there. Great combo, IMHO. Just curious as to why the Build Number for this ROM shows up as EvoNonsens4.2? I verified that I did DL the 4.3.1 zip file, so no sure why the proper version is not reflected in the Software Information section. Anywho, loving this ROM so far. Very fast and everything is working great!

You can be a veteran and still should not post questions in the development section.
What you should have done is post your question in the evo non sense thread or pm the developer.....
Now your question is simple. The developer forgot to rename his Rom to the new update. It still is the newest but with the old name/number.

Thanks for the info. Why is it that I shouldn't make a post in the development thread for the ROM? I figured this would be something that the ROM developer would be interested in knowing so that he/she could fix it. Guess I don't know all the rules for XDA yet .

You can post question of a Rom in its thread. You don't make a new thread to ask a question about a Rom. It will clutter the dev section.
Now if you have a non specific Rom question that question can go in this section=q&a

Cool. Guess I need to make a few more posts before it will let me comment in a development thread though. By the way, your ROM is awesome!! Gonna stick with this one for a while. Trying to promote it as much as possible on the AC forums.

[Q] Current Version

Hey guys!! I've been bad at following the forums for a few months and I'm not sure if I need to update before trying some of these newer ROMS like Synergy or CM7.
Andriod Version 2.2
Kernal 2.6.32.17
Am I outdated or am I ok to flash a new ROM??
Thanks for the help!
I think you meant to post this in the Q&A subforum. Please PM the forum mod and ask that your thread be moved.
Besides that, you haven't provided nearly enough information for anyone to actually answer your question. You haven't even mentioned if you're rooted, S-OFF, or anything. The ROMs here will upgrade those things you mentioned, so your current versions are really irrelevant.
watch the vid I link to in my sig....it'll answer some questions
No I actually meant to post it in the development thread because the question pertained to development. My bad I guess.
Last time I flashed a ROM I had to run the autoroot program to get to 2.2 before I flashed the ROM. I assumed I had to be rooted to flash any of these ROMS so I thought that info was obvious, but I guess not?? So yes I am rooted, and S-off.
"watch the vid I link to in my sig....it'll answer some questions"
Not helpful, but it made me LOL!

regardless if it pertains to development or not....any thread that is a question should be posted in the Q&A section. you should only be making a new thread in Development if its a new ROM, MOD, FIX, etc.

Oops, must have missed that rule......
I did however mark the post as a question and when I was typing the post I marked the box that said "this is a question" I did that to help the people who wouldnt bother giving any advice and would instead tell he how I wasted their precious time asking a question they didn't have to answer or even read. There are at least 5 other posts on the first page at this time that aren't new ROMs, MODs, or FIX's, so I guess the flamers should be really busy today.
Thanks for the helpful help though!
Hello,
You are rooted & soff, so you are ready to get a new rom, but be sure you have a backup first.

Best rooting method?

I've always rooted my HTC, recently my Ev3D. I found from past experience that certain rooting methods is not too friendly with ease of flashing roms...
Question: I'm not in a rush to root so, should I wait until sprint/samsung release the no signal bug update or is there a safe and stable root method available now?
How many root methods are available now and which is best route?
[rant]Ok, I'll be the asshole here. First of all, did you even bother to look around and read the PLETHORA of posts and information already available about this topic? Seems that you didn't. So I'M not going to answer you, and I hope no one does. Because YOU need to take it upon YOURSELF to research, read, read some more, then read a little bit more, then make an EDUCATED decision.
Second, this is posted in the wrong section. This section is for DEVELOPMENT topics ONLY, not Q&A or General.[/rant]

First, I apologize for posting in the wrong dev section (lesson learned - from Jarred)
Second, I read and read and googled and read androidfurums and xda forums and found too many solutions. Info is too scattered and every root method thread have their own following with praises.
I simply wanted few members to maybe give me names of root method and I was going to read and read and read some more and then make an EDUCATED decision. Since you rather "proudly" rant and make new members feel welcome by claiming an asshole title... I THANK YOU.
So remember, 1 of the thanks on your thank meter will always be there from me ... thanks for being an asshole, have a wonderful day lol

There currently is no "superior root method." At the end of the day if you are rooted it doesn't really matter how you went about it.
There is a small amount of controversy currently about the rooted-kernels breaking something and causing a LOS (loss of service), but we have no proof that the rooted kernels are or aren't causing the problem. (I, personally, think it has nothing to do with the kernel as I got a few LOS bone stock. YMMV)
Now, you can wait for someone to find an exploit in the stock kernel if that makes you more comfortable be my guest...you might be waiting a while, maybe forever as there is no need.
So, no matter what "method" you use they all have the same goal in mind, get SU into /system/apps...the current "stock rooted" method involves flashing a rooted kernel, flashing a root.zip (to install SU) and then flashing the stock kernel back. Now you have Super User installed *and* the stock kernel. Poof, you are rooted, you are stock, everyone wins...right?
