Try to go to recovery CWM then go to mount and storage, then go to mount USB storage and then reboot. Hope this works for you.

just tried that.
it says:
E:Unable to write to ums lunfile (No such file or directory)
never seen anything like this. my previous phone was nexus s, so pretty familiar with CWM recovery and whatnot.
also moving through the CWM recovery menu
these come up in this order...
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
thank you so much

Try to fix permissions in your phone, also try to put a external SD card to see if that helps. I had that problem with my vibrant before and I did all that, and works after I did that.
One question; which ROM are you using?

tried the fix permissions + sd card mounting, but no go. found something interesting on Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 thread. very similar to my issue, something to do with the pit file?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307524&page=2
sounds like if i can get my hands on the original pit file, i should be able to recover from this awful situation.
i'm on the bloat free rom from teshxx now, but was on EaglesBlood before.
thanks for all your help!
I'm having the same problem on my gs2...im trying to find the .pit file somewhere for our 16gb's ones...If anyone knows if the file let me know
thankss

Can it mount when you're not in recovery? (Aka, can you mount it as a USB while your phone is on normally?)

Just so you know if you are flashing a rom and you get this that it usually means wrong file system. Like your on ext4 trying to flash a rfs only rom.

Hi there
I have recently just unlocked my bootloder and i am trying to flash SETweaked through recovery. I installed Blend kernel v2 and then booted into recovery but it won't let me do anything because it says that it can't mount my sdcard. I also booted into CWM_for_Arc.img, but still the same problem.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
cheers guys

Did what you said and all is working perfectly, thank you very much. This is now solved but may help someone else in the future.

just download and use SDFormatter 3.0 to format your SD card
it works for me ...
if not , you must use Flash Tool to Flash Kernel & Offical Rom too
So you just need to format the SD card into FAT32? wouldn't all the files inside be lost?
Hello all,
I tried searching for this issue before posting and couldn't find anything for Sprint galaxy s II.
Anyways, I am getting an error "E: failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)" when i am in the recovery mode looking for my ROMs. I double checked to make sure that the files I copied from the pc is in there.
I rooted my phone using QBKing77s video tutorial from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728
Can someone please help me with this issue?
Thank you in advance for any help,
VR
Did you try searching both internal and external cards? Sounds like no sdcard. Try internal sdcard
