Hello community.
Not sure if some of you know this or not but our nice trusty Galaxy S 2 is able to take screenshots right out of the box. Its simple
1 - Press and hold down the Home Key
2 - While Holding down "Home", Immediatly Press the Power Button .
3- Find your screen shots in the gallery under "Screen Capture"
Hope this helps

wondering if anyone is able to modify the Samsung framework so we can have a hardware button combo (ie any combination of volume, home and power) to save a screenshot, rather than the stock implementation of palm swipe across the screen.
I find the palm swipe only works for me once every couple of tries, and can often scroll the exact content on the screen you are trying to capture.
Alternatively, Any app suggestions which can achieve this would also be helpful...
EDIT SOLVED already possible with stock frame work... Press and hold both power and home simultaneously for about half a second, and screenshot is captured.
Press n hold the power and home button together !
Power + Home presssed with correct sync indeed
Hmmm doesn't work for me on omega 4.1.... ?? I see online that this should work as an option... Any setting to enable it?
Edit.... Ok got it push both bottoms simultaneously and hold for half a second. Perfect thanks all.
I would have preferred if they stuck with the volume down+ power button combo like stock Android 4.0
Are you holding them in? I thought it wasn't working at first, turns out you just need to hold them both for about a second and it'll work.
I do prefer the SE way of having the option in the LongPressPower options but hey, I love my S3 more.

Glad I found this. The swipe gesture is frigging useless for anything that scrolls.
I just got my GN2 yesterday, and for some reason, I can't take a screenshot by pushing the power and the home buttons. I've never had an issues with my GN1, does anyone have this same problem or any advice?
Go to settings>s motion and check palm swipe to capture.
Simply swipe your hand over the screen and voila.

thanks, i've been doing that, but i preferred the button combo
anyway, i found that you need to simultaneously press home and power at the same time and hold it for about a second
it's odd, because on my GN1, as soon as you pressed it, it would screen shot.
So far i'm loving my new Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (i317m). I've modified the setting to bypass the lock screen when i click the Home button.
The issue i'm seeing now is the screen is blanked, i click the home button, i can see the app i was using before the blanking BUT the screen promptly flashes taking me to the Home screen.
Is there any way to have the lock screen removed AND to have the home button NOT take me to the home screen IF when the home button is pressed the screen was blanked? A simple IF conditional.
Thanks for any help.
I'm trying to understand your AND statement "AND to have the home button NOT take me to the home screen IF when the home button is pressed the screen was blanked"
The first statement is easy, just pick no lock in settings but + AND statement?

Thanks so much for the response.
Yes the "AND" part is the tough part and the reason i asked it. I will clarify. The situation is this. I am well aware of the option Lock Screen >> Screen Lock | None. This was a useful option when i discovered it some time back as now when my unit blanks and i go to hit the home button to wake it up, the unit wakes and take me automatically to the Home screen bypassing the annoying Lock Screen. Terrific.
For those of us who have this option set will quickly notice an issue. If, for instance, one had Google Talk app running before the screen blanked, and later returned to wake up the unit by clicking the Home button (expecting to continue within GTalk), he will briefly see the GTalk app and then it will disappear and will now see the Home screen. One must now navigate back to the app.
I would like the Home button, if pressed to wake up the unit, to remain in the current application. This would be similar to the Power Button functionality. I'm hoping there is a "fix" for this nuisance.
UPDATE: It seems Samsung recognized this nuisance / bug and has corrected it within 4.1.2 but sadly it wont be available thru my Carrier for at least another 6 months (Canada is a bit slow with updates).
** I still would appreciate any work around in the meantime
UPDATE:
I neglected to mention i had the settings of S-Voice modified disabling opening S-Voice if the double click of the Home button occurred. I did this to speed up any Home button clicks.
I just discovered if i have this settings enabled it appears to prevent the click of the Home button to wake from exiting the existing app. The prob now is my Home button takes 1 sec (as opposed to 0.4 secs) to snap back to home when pressed. Sheesh.
Ugly but it is a start.
I just found out about Buzz Launcher. Its great. I want to use it as a lockscreen or sth. I have turned of lockscreen from android settngs. I want when I press the lock key of gnex the phone to sleep and after pressing the key for a second time to go to home.

i am very confused.......so you said you like the buzz launcher......and you want to use it as lockscreen? I assume you really reall love the buzz launcher lock screen and want to rip it out so you can use it with other roms? Is that it?
No. I want to push the lock key. And after pressing it for a second time I want to see the home screen. I think that there was such an option in the spare parts app.

so what you mean is you wanna skip the entire lock screen? just press power key and go straight to wherever you were left off, and press home key to return to default home screen?

I am looking to do the same....
what he and I want to do is for example we are in an app like chrome and we press the power button to turn off the screen then the next time we press the power button to turn the screen on it will then be back on the home screen and NOT on the last app we were in.
SO the goal would be NOT to use a lock screen at all, however when we press the power button then we will see whatever widgets/info displayed on the "home screen"
Not sure if I am explaining it proper but either way I want to know as well if this is possible.
Using Galaxy Nexus - Linaro AOKP rom if that matters.
Any info would be amazing.
Thank you.

Tasker can achieve this. Just create a profile for the event screen off or power button.

I don't know if there is that have changed for the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra but I am not able to capture the screen of my mobile phone. If I hold the power button it goes to the power off screen (as I have configure the side keays). But if I hold power + volume down buttons, it goes the same way (power off screen). The volume down button works properly using it alone. Is there any change on the Note 20 Ultra to capture screen by buttons? Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year all
I've just used volume - with power and screen captured with no issues on latest ui3 official Three UK
Eddie
Thanks for your help! I found my mistake in other forum. I just post it, just in case it happend to anyone else. I tried to hold both buttons, power + volume down. But I shouldn't hold them, just push then quickly. That didn't happen that way in my old S10
Happy New Year!
There is another option that my better half like to use to take screenshots. You can use your palm and swipe from the left edge to the right edge.
Its the option in Settings -> Advance Features - > Motion and gestures -> Palm swipe to capture
Thank you. I just registered for saying this.
I was trying to get a screenshot with my new Samsung Galaxy M23 for quite some time, with no avail.
Just clicking and letting go, not continuing to press solved it.
