[Q] No working vol keys problem downgrading to stock hboot - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title says, i have flashed CM7r2 a long time ago.Now i need to get to stock hboot as my volume keys are dead.
The problem is that if i use the ruu, the flash does not finish. This is natural(hboot 6.xxx for protection is on anyway).
Is there any way to flash a stock hboot or force flash it using a ruu or am i bricked???
Thanks people!

Did you enable USB Debugging and have the necessary adb and fastboot drivers installed?

FIXED PLEASE LOCK
Needed to use USBdeview in order to install a third time the drivers.Weird enough, a clean xp installation didn't work either.

HERO Update

I download the RUU Rom link and ran it. I have the phone connected, but when I try to do the update it says my phone is not connected. Anyone have any ideas?
First suggestion would be not to use the RUU as from what I've seen it updates HBOOT which seems to restrict things going forward .
modaco's 2.2 rom is basically a rooted rom from the RUU you can also get the updated radio from his site too without updating HBOOT.
Both the radio and the rom are in a nice update.zip format which is easy to use but you do need to backup contacts stored on the phone and sms etc as it does require a wipe. (the again I believe the RUU dies this too anyway).

Try to start it from the fastboot. Switch of the phone. Turn it on again holding the back, and on/off button till you see the 'fastboot' screen. Then connect the phone with the PC and wait till the drivers are loaded and you see in the screen 'fastboot usb'. Then run RUU****.exe again.
That worked on my Vista Ultimate 64bits machine.

[Q] unbrick play r800at? please help..

i tried to put rom dfrgsm 3.0.2 on my phone and now all it will do is go to the sony ericsson screen and thats it.
Try using Flashtool to flash your stock rom.
Flashtool, select flash mode. Download the 2.3.3 r800AT firmware from the compilation thread. Start your phone by holding the back button and connecting a USB cable, flash 2.3.3 for r800at, done.
HELP!!!!!!!!

I have the same problem happen to my phone trying to flash XDark ICS and now I can not do ANYTHING and I'm FREAKING OUT. When I try and flash it through flash tools I get errors and then it disconnects and says device connected with USB debugging off and also says Be sure you are not in MTP Mode. I can't change anything not being able to get into it. All I want to do is get back into CMW so I can restroe my backup and never mess with it again. Is there ANYTHING I can do??? I am pretty sure when I tried to flash that rom, obviously the wrong way, I was in them modes they say I'm not in flash tool. Please Help Me???

Did you install the Android SDK first on your pc? Next up did you install the sony drivers? When you install flashtool inside the flashtool folder there is folder called drivers and accept all the permissions that goes along with it. In order the get flashtool working properly you should do the first 2 things I posted? Your play is not "bricked" it is a soft brick. Meaning your PLAY can be saved its not scrap yet.

Firstly, you haven't got a recovery.
Secondly, post the bootloader information.
Bootloader Information:
HBOOT 0-93.0001
Radio 5.11.05.27
News???
Sounds like you haven't got a recovery.
If the phone boots, S-OFF it with revolutionary and flash recovery.
If it doesn't boot then run a RUU and do as above.
Tks
I tryed with S-OFF revolutionary but when I run revolutionary compare:
"Waiting for device"
I install drivere HTCDriver3.0.0.007
Are you sure we're in fastboot while running revolutionary?
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
Yes sure!!!
Is Windows 7 the problem???
Nope, Windows 7 isn't the problem. Have you installed the necessary Windows hboot drivers correctly?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk 2
I install driver HTCDriver3.0.0.007(driver for fastboot)
http://downloads.unrevoked.com/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe
This driver is correct???
Driver looks ok, I meant when installing them with phone in fastboot did you get Android Bootloader Interface listed under Android Phone in Device Manager on pc?
edit: presume HTC Sync application not installed, or anything like myphoneexplorer that might interfere with process?
HTC Sync don't installed.
In attach Android Phone in Device Manager(first fastboot and after fastboot)
Can't remember now if Win 7 has a different device description to XP, will need to check what shows up on my pc at home. Another thing that might interfere with process is running anti-virus eg AVG - so might need to be disabled.
edit: checked that and looks ok, try unistall and re-install the drivers. Is it possible you somehow got a usb brick?

Okay well u can relock the bootloader and run a ruu on Windows. Or u can go to recovery and go to install there you will see adb sideload u plug your phone to usb and adb sideload the Rom.
If your on Windows you probably got a adb/fastboot folder so put the zip u want to flash in there and open command prompt and type adb sideload thezipsname.zip. It's easier than completely wiping everything with ruu.
Let me know how it goes.

What recovery are you using?
Did u lock it or it does not recognize it now that you tried adb sideload?
Do u have a Rom on sdcard?
Are you willing to lose all your data?
Also Windows or Linux?
It can be fixed don't worry. It really can't be that bad.

You can try to wipe and install one of the roms from recovery.
But your computer should see the phone if u put it in bootloader mode once there plug it in and type fastboot devices. It should show up. On the phone you should see it say fastboot usb. If u don't see that push the power button and then you should see it.
Also if HTC sync is installed uninstall it.
Let me know

Put your phone in bootloader mode and plug usb in then just run ruu.exe and go through the steps. Basically just check the boxes and click next.
It should take about ten minutes.

It's supposed to go to a screen and show progress bar.
Then it will reboot into ruu mode a black screen with HTC logo and a progress bar.
Does the bootloader screen say fastboot usb in red? If not push the power button.
Just rerun ruu and try again.

Question Help, please, stuck in custom ROM install

Hi, I am new to custom ROMs install , recently got a Poco F3 and When installing I run into a problem, the pc doesnt recognize the device after I run the batch install for the device, when running the console, it gets stuck here (Ill add a picture), its been one hour like this, whta can I do? I am using the lastest version of Pixel Extended.
Also I can no longer get back into normal MIUI so IDK what to do.
Thanks for any help and sorry if this sounds like such a noob mistake but I am really lost right now
Edit:
SOLVED! IDK how, but It was a drivers issue, had to install It and uninstall it multiple times, sometimes the device manager would recognize it but the console script wouldn't, don't know really why it happened but hey I fixed it and managed to install custom ROMs, thanks for the help.
looks like a driver issue when its rebooting fastboot mode, check device manager, might just need to unplug cable and then plug back in to get it working again.
if that doesnt help try a different driver on the pc.

And which kind of driver should I get because in the MIUI unlock app, it says that the latest drivers are installed. Where could I get other drivers?
