I noticed that you shoulden't get the new Swype 3.26 Beta if your phone has it pre-loaded. The site says: "If your phone came pre-installed with Swype DO NOT download this beta (it won't work)."
So how does updating Swype work in general when it's preloaded? Is it a ROM update?
Get TitaniumBackup to uninstall the preloaded Swype. The samsung keyboard will temporarily replace it as you sign up and install the beta. Works fine.

shouldn't titanium backup be able to uninstall it?
You don't have to be rooted. Install the nexus swype and it will overwrite it. It will say something like do you want to upgrade a system app and you say yes. Titanium requires root.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
You need to remove /system/app/Swype.apk and /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so to uninstall it. I had issues when I did that though and got force closes once I installed the latest beta.
Ok so how can we stop the fc's?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786231
worked great
Ya this one letter thing is a pain. Anyone have a link to the working apk file? does it also do the auto punctuation thing too?
Try this:
1) Use titanium back up to remove swype. Inside TB, go to settings/more/clean dalvik. Reboot.
2) Install from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1220218
3) Enjoy.
follow the link above..fixes all issues. Use swype installer so no apk needed..
Only down side is the beta is ugly as balls. Ugly enough that I'd rather just hit the space bar until Samsung/Swype puts out a fixed version.
Unless someone wants to theme the beta using the style from the preloaded version. I'll even pull and post the .pngs if someone is willing.

Try the sprint version for epic 4g. It looks very nice. Post #15.
I must be blind or something as I do not see it in the post mentioned. Are you downloading and then pulling the apk?

Affirmative.
So I am a big user of Swype and really like the version on the Epic Touch, however, I have noticed an issue with auto-spacing and I am not sure if anyone else is having issues. Where I am seeing issues is spacing when I try and type single letters like "i" or "a" when typing a lot. On my older phone with swype this would auto-space and start the word. Is anyone else experiencing this, and does anyone know a fix for it?
Yea, this is a known issue with this swype version. u can try installing the swype beta version or the nexus s 4g swype and those will solve this problem. Im using the nexus s 4g swype atm and its working great, plus looks nice too.

I used TitaniumBackup to manually uninstall the stock Swype. Then went here to sign up for the Swype Beta:
http://beta.swype.com/android/create/
I tried looking for the Nexus S4G Swype version too, but no luck. I'm liking the beta though. Very sleek. Hope this helps.
Yeah I had the beta version on my older Epic, and wasn't sure if I was going to put it on this phone looks like I will.

Saw Swype's announcement video when it was released (was using a windows mobile back then though). Downloaded the beta as soon as I got my HTC Thunderbolt; and bought the full version now using my Sprint LGOG
SwiftKey beyond a shadow of a doubt
I use Hacker's Keyboard. It is great for use in the terminal, especially when it comes to running vi.

It won't overwrite the stock lg one. It's officially on the play store from Google. They released it a dew days ago. It's another input option.

I have the stock keyboard installed as well, it gives me the option to update this keyboard within the play market, but won't install after it downloads. I'm probably just going to delete the existing one and try to install the one from the market.
**Update** I don't know if there was a huge difference from the aosp keyboard that what included within this rom, but by removing that version I was able to install the market version.
What ROM are you on? I'm rooted but locked. So I had no issues on the stock ROM. The more I use this keyboard the more I'm looking it over swiftkey. I didn't fully use the swiftkey flow feature. I was always letting up and pressing the space bar before continuing.

Im currently on Vectus v2, I'm positive the 4.2. keyboard was a feature of this rom.
Stock ZVB and SwiftKey are my favorite
Swiftkey is definately my favorite keyboard by far, it is so accuate
My vote is for the 4.2 stock keyboard.
Now that we have received our new JB 4.1.2 update from T-Mobile (yeah! :victory, I have a question.
Samsung licensed Swiftkey technology for their keyboard. It does look much better and respond better than before. I also own Swiftkey. That said, I'm waffling between sticking with the stock keyboard and saving some memory versus running Swiftkey and having some additional options for customization.
What do you do?
Do whatever one you prefer, don't know why you want the answer given to you, just preference. Don't stop using apps just because memory more this phone has its memory

I stopped using SwiftKey because:
1) it was not remembering the words I told it to remember.
2) swipe prediction was terrible.
Using Swype now.
I prefer the note 2 keyboard myself because it has the numbers on top and I don't have to keep it that stupid little button on the side to make my numbers pop up.

Or just use the free note 2 keyboard from a flashable zip.

Only SwiftKey can insert space bar by swiping over the space bar without letting go of your finger. I find that really hard to beat. I'll stick to SwiftKey until I find something that could do better.
Been looking
Hi guys first post ever here in XDA. Been lurking for a while.
I have the Frosty JB 4.1.1 v11.2.1. I removed alot of apps through Titanium and when I do a factory reset, I don't have any keyboards. I am looking for the stock or note2 or the new 4.1.2 keyboard to install. I have swype but want to get stock so I can put it in the proper folder for factory resets so I wont be without a keyboard upon reboot. I have searched and all I keep finding is themed KB and cant get them to work. I hate the dev stopped producing the frosty rom, I love it on my phone. Cant find the v11.2.1 or I would just start fresh there.
Thanks in advance.

You can either "convert to System app" using TiBu Pro or move the .apk to the /system/app folder and reboot. Root is required for either.
And just fyi, there shouldn't be a link to the note2 kb in the themes and apps sticky.

Because your SwiftKey is from the black market if you have one from the play store and latest upgrade it will stick after reboot like my.

Thank you all. I found tp2215 library and picked up the note2 and installed via zip in cwm.
Then bought the TIBU, per DJ_SpaRky recommendation. I then made a sys app out of the note2.
I just did a factory restore and whamo, Im up and going.
Thank you all very much.
Glad to hear that you were able to get it done.

Its all based on your preferences. I have used both and didn't think anything could be better than swiftkey till I saw the new Samsung keyboard on the s4 Note2 roms. I go back and forth now looking for a new king. I like the option of having the permanent numbers row on the ported note2 but I am also trying the new Kii keyboard on the play store. Install them all and swap back and ofrth in settings untill you decide which works best for you. I currently have 4 or 5 installed.
