Nexus will support USB Otg? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Let's hope it's does.

Yes, it support it via software.
But you need a female-USB to male-microUSB adapter.

I am very interested in this. Have you read somewhere where this is confirmed?

There's a samsung product called "USB Connector", model: ET-R205UBEGSTD and install an app called Stickmount (now only for USB with FAT partition) for automount.

[Q] usb host?

I hear that honeycomb and ics support this function. So has anyone tried this out or does this version of ics have this functionality? I'm wondering if this device can read and explore external mass storage devices such as usb thumb drives or memory card readers and such. Would definitely be a deal breaker for me when I'm due for an upgrade.

yes, and you need a proper correct usb-OTG cable.
not all cable works.
Works great on bigxie v. 5, using stickmount to mount my usb key. Haven't tried mouse etc, just wanted storage to work.

Music through USB otg host?

So through usb otg host we can connect a flash drive to our nexus and access files correct?
So can we plug in flash drive or hard drive and okay the music files off there??
Just curious

It will work provided you install Stick Mount from the Market. ICS has limited support for USB host mode and Stick Mount fills that void.
Cheers to Chainfire.

[Q] USB Mass Storage mode for Nexus 7

I know that there's an app available for the Galaxy S 3 which allows USB Mass Storage Mode on the device... is there something similar which works on the Nexus 7?
Yes sure, this APP is called "Nexus Media importer"
You'll find it in play store

lots of folks use StickMount also found on Google Play
I don't think StickMount is what I'm after, that allows a user to use a USB drive via USB-OTG cable.
I wish my Seagate external hard drive would connect.

I think what he means is to connect the Nexus 7 to PC via USB as an USB mass storage, not a media player. As far as I know, it is not possible though... :/
the SGS3 Easy UMS only works for external storage card, not available on Nexus 7.

Issues with mounting external flash drive

Hello,
I'm facing an issue when I mount an external flash drive to my nexus 7 using a simple USB OTG adapter. When i plug the external memory in, the flash drive's LED indicator lights up, which means that it's powered by the tablet, but the device itself doesn't react whatsoever and when browsing with ES I don't see any external drive. What am i supposed to do? My nexus 7 is entirely stock and no root, so i don't void the warranty.

ES won't see the drive - you need to use a 3rd party app like Nexus Media Importer to access it.
Yeah, I got total commander plus a paid usb otg plugin for it and now I can use it normally. Turns out Nexus devices can't boot external flash drives on their own.

When my USB port wasn't broken I didn't need any additional apps, I just plugged my USB drive into my OTG cable then into my device and it was instantly recognized. If that doesn't work for you try usinh Chainfire's Stickmount.
You could try OTG helper but that requires root access...
If the light is coming on you should be able to use it. You are just going to need a 3rd party app such as "file explorer".
I can understand the worries of voiding your warranty but you may need root access if you are going to trouble shoot. If things go bad you can always unroot your tablet and take it back to factory settings. WuGFresh's Nexus Root Toolkit has a nice feature on his windows program that does that automatically for you!

OTG

Anyone know how to get OTG to work on non rooted phone?
Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
Use the USB adapter that's in the box or purchase a third party option. I use the adapter that came with the phone, but I also have this one and it works great. No root is required for either.
Thanks
