I was using cm6.1.2 and the gps would never work was accurate only to 2500 meters (cell towers) I've tried cm fresh the msl reader fix nothing gets my gps to work. Any ideas?
D/L GPS Status from the market, let it run and d/l the GPS A data, connect to your sats and then run Maps, Navi, et al
How long does it usually take for GPS status to connect to the sats?
let it run for about 10 mins. Never connected to any sats it would find 1 but wouldn't get a fix then it would lose the sat.
If that's the case, then you have a deeper issue than a setting or software, I'd assume.
Mine connects to 10 Sats in about a minute, then everything GPS related runs prefect.
Not knowing a WHOLE lot about GPS, I'll leave this one for the experts.....
Come on experts!
Flash a Sense based rom like Myn Warm TwoPointTwo RLS 5 and see how your GPS feature works. You can download it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793471
On Fresh Evo 3.5.0.1 now but i'm downloading myn to see if theres a difference.

Okay...I misread your post. You stated you had been running CM 6.1.2 and "CM Fresh". I assumed the latter was yet another variation of CyanogenMod. Sorry.
Flashed Myn samething is happening accurate to 1000-2500 meters. No lock on a sat.
I have looked and i can't seem to find anyone that has this same problem. Nothing i've tried has worked.

I had a GPS related problem a few times in the past but it was always fixed with either a Google Maps update, a reboot or a reflash of the rom.
So i was looking for way to fix the gps on my Evo 4g running CM7 RC4 and i came across this fix:http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/fzqnc/evo_cyanogenmod_7_gps_fixprls_and_htc_sense/
If i back up my rom and then flash the Fresh Rom fix the gps and then flash back to my back up, will i lose my apps? More importantly i do not want to lose my progress in Angry Birds. Thanks
yeah you can use nandroid for this fix. Just warnen ya though, that's what I did initially and I've been having trouble recently. I just fresh formatted everything today.
Nandroid backup your current setup, flash the Sense Rom, do the fix, then nandroid restore. You can always use Titanium Backup to backup your apps + data in any situation. As long as you backup Angry Birds with TB, you can restore your progress.
Also, try GPS status in market. I'm running cm7 rc4 and get perfect lock after doing this.

What's strange is that GPS Status has worked for me so far, but it doesn't work at all for my brother running an Evo, exact same parameters.

I can confirm that GPS Status did not work for me. I'm running CM7 final and I'm still getting flaky GPS. It locks for a second, then turns off. It will turn back on after a few minutes, lock, and turn back off.
So I tried GPS Status and cleared the GPS cache and downloaded the A-GPS data, etc. Same thing. Even in the GPS Status app, the GPS turns on, find a lock, then turns back off.
Therefore, I grabbed MSL Reader, wrote down my MSL code, flashed Sprint Lover, and while in Sprint Lover, turned on GPS, got a lock, performed ##GPS fix and entered MSL code, rebooted, tried GPS again and it worked, updated PRL while I was in Sprint Lover, and everything worked. Then wiped everything, flashed the new CM7 final and can confirm (though limited testing) that GPS is working now as it should. It doesn't flake out on me anymore. I'll test it on my way home tonight.
Hope this helps...

Yep, this works. The GPS Status app never worked for me, but flashing back to SL, performing the GPS fix, and back to RC4 worked. Now on CM7 Final, GPS is working OK.
When you restore your nandroid backup, everything will be exactly like it was, but you can backup your apps with titanium to be sure.
worked 4 me mahalo
Running decks 1.1 and tiamat 4.0.1. GPS status fixed all my problems.
Excuse me im sorry if im ignorant, but what is Sprint Lover?
Thank You!
It is a Rom that looks just like the factory Sprint rom with some tweaks. Here is a link.

Hi folks,
I am running CM7 stable and I had the GPS problem big time. It wouldn't work at all.
I read this post and tried out the fix.
I flashed Koni Elite III ROM, booted it using amon ra, updated prl, then profile, did the ## Gps fix as linked above, checked GPS on the sense rom and it was working, went back into recovery and reflashed CM 7 from nandroid backup, didnt wipe anything, and all is absolutely great again, the GPS locks instantly and Google maps and navigation works fine and dandy....... easy 10 minute fix.

+1 yup, this works all the time.
All I did was turn off "allow mock locations" and rebooted the phone. GPS Status now gets a near instant fix and Google Maps works again. Not sure if it will work for everyone but it sure is easier than having to fiddle with the software.
Whenever I attempt to use google maps, nav, or facebook check in my data connection gets knocked out. I tried updating my radio to 32.54.00.32U_5.14.05.17 to see if it would help but no luck. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks. I tried searching and nothing came up.
I've noticed if I turn on my phone it works fine and it only happens after it's been on for a few hours. Definitely something wrong with the rom since cm7 works fine with it. I really like leedroid too, any idea's to troubleshoot would be appreciated
Hello, I have already searched the threads and cyanogenmod website. It seems it must be hardware issue or drivers, from what I can gather. Although my gps used to work perfectly before. I was on cm7.03. gps worked perfectly to 2m. Then flash sprint lovers. Then back to cm7, I had dowbgraded prl in sprint lovers, but updated before going to cm7, as well as sense gps fix, ##clrgpsx# fix. I would get the 1000meters gps reading. Rebooted back to sense and did fix 5 times no change. Even after dalvik and reflash. I then turned on wifi and it reached to 20m and sometime 10m. So I went back to cm hoping it would be better. I did and when on gps only 1000m and with wifi (not connected) 10-15m. I used to get 3m with only gps, not sure what happened. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
Netflix, I had netflix working on my evo with cm7 and sprint lovers, went back to cm7 and now I get device is not activated. I went to netflix and deactivate 3 evos and nook color. But now I still get same error. I cannot activate it because there is no code to enter online and netflix app doesnt provide one. Any ideas?
Napster, I have 2 phone using this account, but Everytime I reflash I am not able to download to phone, after 3. Is there any way to prevent this. Last time I had to call them and they reset it. Its just that I flash alot. I tried restoring with Titanium and keeping data still needed to call.
Thanks again.
I finally rooted and flashed Joel's Sense 3.5 ROM. I've flashed it 3 times now, every time doing a full wipe in between, but I can never get the GPS to work. It says it's on, but never gets any signal. I've tried disabling/re-enabling, airplane mode toggle, *288, GPS Status clear/download AGPS data, everything that I could find online. Finally I just restored to stock/pre-flash and GPS is back working.
Any ideas why GPS would stop working? Did I miss something?
Clearly I didn't pay enough attention, because there's a link for NilsP's GPS fix on Joel's site. Flashed that fix and all appears to be well again.
It's been my experience that Dinc 1 doesn't handle 3.5 ROMs well. I tried a ported evo 3D rom, and acted "buggy" for me.
