Thankyou very much, but I can't get it to work. It won't install, and if I push it to the system/app folder it doesn't come up under widgets. Any way to get it to work?
Ur asking a good question, I extracted it from my original rom with root uninstaller dunno if you can install back by this app??
I suspect you are on Cognition.
If this' the case then you have to go to the Cognition thread and download the removed stuff from the first post and push it to /system/app either with Root Explorer or via adb.
If you take the original Samsung widgets from stock ROMs or even from past versions of Cognition itself they shouldn't work as expected...
A bit weird to me but that's the truth...

[APP]GenieWidget.apk from the Galaxy Nexus

Hello Everyone!
As you may or may not know, the Galaxy S3 doesn't have the News & Weather widget in-built like it did on the SGS2 so lets change that shall we?
Read the instructions below and you should have the news & weather widget back up and running on this awesome device!
What You Need:
Rooted Device
Root Explorer (Or ES File Explorer)
Room on your SD Card
Instructions:
-Download the GenieWidget.apk from the attachments below
-Put GenieWidget.apk onto your internal SD Card (Or external, doesn't really matter)
-Open Root Explorer and navigate to where you put GenieWidget
-Highlight it and select copy
-Navigate to /system/app/
-Paste
-Reboot
-It will be there in the widgets!
Screenshot to prove it works:

I'd appreciate it if you clicked the thanks button

Anyone notice that the weather detail view crashes when "force GPU rendering" is turned on in developer settings?
@OP: Thanks a lot for this useful app, Iv'e been missing during my review of the SGS3 on my portal.
Is there any chance you can port it over to non-root user? And if not, please specify why that would not be possible (need it for my article).
Thank you very much in advance and for your contribution to the Android society and other users as myself
thanks a lot it's look great

It's not in the OP but did you remember to fix permissions to rw-r-r? At least I thought you had to do this for any app you put into the /system/app folder. I always do and this works fine on my EVO LTE.
I can confirm this works on my Rezound.
here is a transparent version of it:

Could you provide a preview?
GenieWidget fully themed for me.
Download from here:

Hum, i've just download and installed the htcmania's version (last post from Armin van buuren) and it's working in a stock and un-rooted galaxy s3.
Thanks
Just installed this on my Skyrocket using the Dragon stripped rom - worked great!
Are there different versions (there was one that came with TeamDRH's ICS for the gtablet, but it seems to be an older version)?
I tried to replace the one that was already there, but it won't let me change the permissions.
Not works on omega 9.0. Put the file in system/app, fixed permission and rebooted, but no widget.....
Edit: found, it was called "news and meteo", i was searching for Geniewidget......:-D
Won't install on Razr. Why does it need root?

[APP/LAUNCHER]Motorola Razr M Launcher and Circle Clock Widget for All Sll

dear friend find link and download and enjoy (root/unroot). link- http://d-h.st/dnA
You can download all the APKs from the link below and install them as you install a normal APK file. No need to deodex or sign the apps. Unzip the downloaded file and copy the whole folder, or the APKs to your phone’s internal or external SD Card. Go to Settings> Security on your device and check the Unknown Sources option there. Install all files, then press Home button of your phone and select “Homescreen”. Please, remember that you cannot place the weather clock widget on any third party launcher homescreen. The widget only works with Motorola Home launcher activated.

Thanks
downloading & will try
Rubbish. Can only fit 3 icons in dock.

[Q] widget delete

Hi,
I have the beautiful ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2500075 turn on my note 2 but now I have the following. A weather widget that I can not delete my lockscreen.
Does anyone know how I can remove it from the zip file? so I will no longer be installed that weather widget. If I open the zip file with 7zip can I delete things and add.
I write with a translator!
Thank you very much everyone

yes, you can
delete what you don't want to install, but carefully
The apk doesn't insert the map system/app. The widget is intrigued because you can not select of you want turn on the widget or not. If i want turn off the widget, android tells me with settings are stopped. In the settings of android calls the widget Clockwidget under the option lockscreen.
