I may just be asking to be flamed, but I have to know how come the stock launcher (NON TOUCHWIZ) hasn't been put out yet. Yes I know of Launcher pro and others. The sprint ID one that has been removed from the good roms was pretty good. Also Marcuant from the Epic forums has a ICS beta that's awesome and the launcher on it is cool. Anyway to port that or is the Source files from ICS needed to make that happen?

I'm a little confused as to what you are looking for. If you mean the stock Gingerbread launcher (since that is what we are on) there are a handful of them available in the market.
ASOP Launcher. Or the new ICS launcher. Maybe it's a clone but it's the [email protected] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295515 He has no pics but I did flash the rom on a buddies epic and it runs smooth. The launcher doesn't have the bugs that the other clones do.

The launcher works perfectly on our GS2 FYI.

Thanks for the quick responses. I've played with that one before and it's still laggy and the quicklinks on the right doesn't work well. I really just want someone to abstract the launcher out of the sprint id that's stock android so I can use that as my daily. Oh Snap. This one works well. SMS doesnt work.

The one I linked you to is what Marcusant is using in his ICS themed rom. If you wanna use the stock gingerbread launcher, you've already got it. Just clear defaults on TouchWiz launcher and hit home, select it from the menu. Or use the app 'Home Switcher' and select it in there. Done and done.
I love this launcher. Is there any way to reduce the number of screens from 5 down to 3?

I'm looking for the most basic stock 2.2 rom available. I mean really stock Android, no touchWiz or customizations. Removal of Sprint bloatware would be great of course. This is for a Samsung Epic currently running froyo right out of the box. This is for a totally blind user running a screen reader from the Google Eyes Free Project. All of the TouchWiz stuff and customizations make the screen reader perform poorly and it's especially bad with froyo 2.2 due to the TouchWiz stuff.
I'd be grateful if anyone can point me to a rom that would fit the bill. Hopefully, such a thing exists. Thanks for any responses.
Cyanogenmod 7 is the closest to AOSP you can get, but it does have some features not working (yet).
I know its not exactly what you are asking for but I have an idea that is pretty simple to do but you don't have t flash another rom.
I suggest launcher pro from the app market. To all you adw fans out there, I've tried that too but accidentally messed up things in the dock and it wasn't fun fixing them. Anyways, launcher pro could be used as your home replacement. I don't know your level of knowledge so I will explain it. Once it finishes downloading, hit the home key on the bottom four and select as default application then select launcher pro. Now hit menu then settings then general and there's a thing to hide apps you don't want showing in the drawer. Next go into appearance and select dock style for froyo or froyo wide. That is pretty much it. There are a few settings that can be tweaked to turn off the special effects and maximise the drawer's speed in regards to scrolling.
That is my suggestion because it is stable and not necessary to start flashing roms and converting the phone's default file system to ext4, which from my experience was opening a can of worms.
I havent used it, but I believe you're looking for this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922773
It's not stock, it just is themed to look like it.
Texted while driving
Why not just root the phone and use root explorer and take out the touch wiz launcher in the stock rom from the system/app directory.
Here is a post here that shows you all the prgrams that you can safely remove:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773142&highlight=safe+apps+remove
Then if you want stock, you can't be more stock than this. Maybe this can help you get to what you want.
I appreciate the responses. Someone suggested simply replacing TW Launcher but that isn't really the issue. Apparently TouchWiz changes more than just the launcher. Some of the apps that don't seem to be really stock Android are messaging, contacts and calendar. TouchWiz also seems to do some other stuff under the hood that gets in the way. Perhaps rooting as someone else suggested and removing the problem apps and replacing them with the stock Android ones might do the trick. Surely there has to be a bare bones rom out there but maybe not for the epic.
I have heard great things about Cyanigen but unfortunately it isn't ready yet.
Syndicaterom Frozen is very barebones and quick. It is the cleanest stable rom.

2nd on srf.
Saying that you were looking for a stock rom is throwing everyone off (or at least me). Stock means you want it like it came factory from Sprint, with all the bloat and garbage attached.

Sorry, didn't mean to throw anyone off. By stock what I mean is Android stock, not Samsung stock. Plain vanilla like you might find on a Nexus 1. No bloatware, no customized UI like TouchWiz. Hope that clarifies it. Thanks.

The term for plain vanilla is AOSP, the ONLY AOSP Rom for the Epic is Cyanogenmod.

063_XOBX,
Thanks for the correct term. I see now what I'm looking for is Android Open Source Project (ASOP). It looks like CyanigenMod is the only way to go. I wish it was finished. The plan is to work on it this saturday so we may wind up trying Syndicate Mod Frozen to see how that goes and eventually flash CyanigenMod. I'm really anxious for Cyanigen to be completed. Thanks for clearing this up for me.

What don't you like about tw?
Sent from Pluto
Just load a new launcher like Go, no need to load a new rom.
Well we both just came from google nexus to the TW fail ... the keyboard is horific, she just does not like change ... to her this is to much change ... she could deal with it but I think she would feel better with it being what she is used to ...
any who I found this "NoWizAOSPmod"
She been on 4.0.4 ... is there a stock 4.0.4 (Vanilla android Experience) for the SG3 Sprint? (i am not having very much luck ... i found on th einternational 4.1.1 and 4.0.4 no problems ... why do the CDMA and LTE have problems anyone?
Give MIUI 2.9.7 a try and use Nova launcher and Swiftkey 3 for a keyboard
MMS, and all the call stuff is working?
try using nova prime or apex launchers ,I'd stay away from Go Launcher it uses alot of resources to run. And you can easily change keyboards, I use SwiftKey 3 and swype beta.
There are a ton of extra you can customize touch wiz.
Custom tw roms get rid of alot of preloaded crap. And as soon as the official release for Sprint jelly bean, must tw roms will be updated.
Tw is the safest way if you want everything to work like normal.

To the OP, as far as kb's, grab swift keyboard, 100x better than the stock TW one.
I'd strongly recommend blazer rom actually for now. Has a stock tw feeling but is butter smooth and has the stock Android keyboard included

This Is Us Variants That I Can Tell. No International Phones Are Listed In The OP. But This Is Nice Smooth Rom.
I was wondering if someone could port the MIUI Power Control Widget to AOSP or Stock Samsung Roms.
I think it looks really good. It has got the same function as the AOSP toggles but if you click the 3 dots, a bigger menu opens (see screens attached).
Thanks in advance!
Don't shoot me for asking again, but does anybody know of this or of some kind of alternative that looks this clean?

I've been asking this for a while in different forums but it seem to fall on deaf ears. I would like to see it replace the stock power control widget that you seem to get in all roms as the miui one look soo much nicer.
use mihome app from market, its only working with miui launcher
here is the link
this app is already included in my ROM

thanks mate but all I would like is the some help on how to extract the widget from mihome launcher app and add it to miui roms as I use the full Miui v5 for my phones. thanks anyway
but if you know what and how I am very willing to learn. :fingers-crossed:
Ya know, i have never even seen that get brought up before. It is a beautiful widget and would be great if someone can port it. Im not too sure if it is possible though because it may require the miui framework which has quite a few changes from aosp. If your interested, I have a section in my thread (link in sig) that has all (at least to my knowledge) MIUI ports to date.

hey thanks mate will have a read I'm currently using miui v5 from HERE
it's the unofficial miui v5 so as far as my thick skull knows with it's less than average knowledge of these things it should be compatible/work.
would I be right in thinking that getting the right xml files and graphics from the mihome launcher app and putting them into the rom somewhere e.g. framework-res.apk, frameworkmiui-res.apk or miuihome.apk should add the widget to the rom? or am I way off?
I was just browsing different Android site & I found this awesome looking Rom. I would love to have this Rom on my Evo & If that's not possible, would love to have the theme on a 2.3 version of Android. I haven't seen a theme like this on the Evo yet. Only thing I don't like is they used Nova Launcher. Sorry I'm a Go Launcher Fan. lol. Anyone want to see if they can get permission & port this bad boy over to our Evo? Has a video of the Rom to.

Its the Apex launcher and thats a CM10 theme, you can get it from the playstore.
I like nova launcher and all, but I'd really like to be able to use one of the original pull up app drawer, and if it could have some of the Cm theming as well, that would be great. I just kind of miss having it there, and would like it around just because I lived with it for years on my g1 and kind of liked how it worked.
Not exactly what your looking for but if you set it up right (just a single app drawer button activated from the bottom of the screen only) you could achieve something similar:

yeah...I'm really thinking something like a recompiled version of the android 1.6 stock launcher with an allowance for install on devices with 4.4. If someone wants to attempt this, I think the source code is downloadable from here: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/packages/apps/Launcher/ but I don't know how modifying it would work
I'm still looking for one...isn't there source code that someone could modify and compile?
If I provide the source for the 1.6 launcher, would someone compile it for me?

idk why you want to use the 1.6 launcher or 2.2.
there are faster and more optimized launchers out that. i.e Nova Prime for KK
