TomTom will drain your battery very fast
You should install batterystatus
Depending on usage, my battery usually lasts more than 48h, but GPS is a drainer for batteries, and together with tomtom...
Anyway, you should install batterystatus and monitor the battery drain to see if there is any leak. I usually have around 70-80mA with no application launched, but with maximum brightness it goes up to 250mA.
To me Mary 3.3.5 SL is the best when it comes to battery, plus I don´t use HTC Home,HTC Launcher and stuff like that.
I guess those two plugins or apps have something to do,the nicer the rom looks the faster the battery drains and TomTom is a drainer like they say,so if you are using biotouch or some similar app it also make the battery consumption go higher.
I down grade from 1.50 to 1.46 resulting in longer battery life.
I have decided to buy a new Desire phone.I read on many forums that battery backup on Desire is very very bad.I need this phone for gaming atleast 1 hour a day.Whether there are any tricks to increase the battery or the battery backup has no problem?
Desire's battery consumption isn't so good, but to play 1 hour a day, is ok even with stock roms.

What is the standby time if i give a full charge?
If you're not using it could be around 5 days.
With moderate use 2 days.
Heavy usage 24h.
Sent with smoke signals.
I think with heavy usage phone working 24 hours is not too bad.Tell me what will be the battery life with the following usage:
1.5 hours gaming,1 hour browsing,1 hour music,45 minutes running apps and always running a live wallpaper.
Probably around 24-36 hours.
Is a bit impossibile to know how your battery will "live" with this usage, because not all apps have the same battery drain... so, we can only imagine...
Live wallpapers use a lot of battery, wi-fi drain is more than 2g/3g network drain... i think that using MIUI or AOSP rom, with this usage, you can stay 24h without recharge... with stock roms 12-16 hours maximum...
Sorry if my english isn't perfect

But select anyone from those two.
From these two Desire, but in this price range there is also Samsung Galaxy S which is slightly better from hardware point of view but i would get Desire anyways.
Galaxy S's price is higher in our country.120$ more than these phones.I need a good phone in 340$-360$ price range. And what about HTC Google Nexus One and Sony Ericsson Xperia mini pro?
Hi everyone,
So that's my problem : I've got some real battery life troubles on my HTC Desire for 1 month now. I'll quickly explain what I did back then and what I've done since then.
So my Desire is rooted and has S-OFF for 4-5 months now. I've tried many roms, starting from the stock one with root (froyo), RCMix S, CyanogenMod, InsertCoin, GB Roms, ...
I had a great battery life with the froyo stock rooted ROM, I could listen to music, go on Youtube, read mails, call, ... and my battery would last a little bit less than 2 days, which I find good for a smartphone.
When I switched to GB Sense ROMs, I lost some battery life, but I could still do a lot of stuff and have some 40% remaining at the end of the day. So it could last 2 days when not doing heavy stuff.
One month ago, I updated InsertCoin to a new version and since then I've got battery life troubles. I thought first it was obviously IC having battery troubles, but when an update arrived, it remained the same. I bought a new battery and nothing changed. Since then I've tried different ROMs like AOSP Cyanogenmod or stock rooted Froyo but the battery can't last more than one day even if the phone remains idle for the most part of the day (one call, 30 minutes of music and that's it... 15-20% at the end of the day).
I've tried to change the radio to an oldest one (5.11.05.27 previously 5.17.05.23), add to the stock froyo a powersaving pack (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773997) which I think should be the lightest ROM available (stock froyo with old sense and a powersaving pack) and still can't have my phone survive the night ...
So what has changed in my phone and how can I have a normal battery life back ?
I don't expect you to exactly solve my problem, but it could be nice to give some advices regarding the battery or explain how exactly the modified kernels with smartass work or even the setcpu application. And how to monitor exactly what drains the battery !
Best regards
How long have you had the phone? And is it still the original battery you got with the device?

I've had my phone since June 2010 and I bought a new battery 1 month ago to see if it changed something. It's an official htc battery

Did you calibrated your new battery? If not, here is a very nice guide for battery calibration:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/11823-battery-calibration-thread
Thanks for the link. I've tried to calibrate my battery, I'll see if it changes something, but from what I read, calibration only avoids your phone turning off at 10-15% of battery because it thinks the battery is empty. A lot of people say that calibration doesn't improve battery life ...
So I tried to find what really drained my battery. I spoke with a friend and he told me he thought our provider must have changed something in the network and that can use more battery.
So I tried to use my phone as usual but turning on and off the 3g network when needed or not and the battery life is back to normal.
It's strange though because one year ago I didn't need to do that to save my battery.
I'm wondering : if I try several radios, could I find one that uses less battery? So far I've used the last one available and the one that came with froyo 2.2 but I didn't try the other...

What most people forget is the tiny size of the battery Vs what we want the phone to do. If I were to only send a few text messages per day and maybe a 10 minute phone call it may last up to 3 days. As it is I have it checking Facebook, Google mail, my home mail and I leave wifi on 24/7. With this I can do 24 hours provided that I'm not putting the screen on to look.
Turn wifi off and don't look at the screen, battery suddenly lasts twice as long. The issue is that these phones are made to be able to access anything and your battery will die fasy when you do. Get a cheap £10.99 Nokia or Samsung that only makes phone calls and you'll save yourself the heartache of a phone that's a PC away from home.
Otherwise, swallow the bitter pill. You can't have both.

Thanks for the answer. I'm not asking for one week battery life though. I'm just pointing out that one year ago I had Froyo with root and now I'm back to Froyo with a brand new battery after trying some other ROMs but I can't manage to have my old battery life back. What I'm saying in my other posts is that I'm not using my phone a lot, I just write 2 messages a day and listen to 30 minutes music, I don't go on Youtube, I don't have push notifications for exchange etc etc ... Last year I had all of that and the battery lasted more than one day !
Cheers

Nop, it's not very far, it's 35H00132-05M.
BTW, meantime I've switched to sebaastian15's ROM Runnymede, removed everything I could (Twitter, auto sync off, Exchange manual update, etc ...) and I'm very satisfied with the battery life And the Beats audio enhancement is very nice with some good headphones !
I'll just suppose that Android 2.2 + uses more battery than the old ones and if you want the same battery life, you need to turn off some stuff. I also think that Sense 3.5 is more battery friendly than 3.0.
Cheers

The battery is more than capable of lasting a whole day if not more, for what you say you want to use it for you will have no problems! plus once the next OTA update comes out battery life will be increased anyway! so go buy one and have fun!!
Not to be a ***** but there are like 10 threads a day regarding battery life. About your question, it's more then capable of lasting a whole day. But if you would like some extra juice out of your battery I would recommend a custom ROM.

Plenty. If you are in average reception area, you can easily get 3 hours of use and the rest sleeping. If you are in good reception area, you should be able to get 4 to 5 hours of use and the rest sleeping.
OK thanks all . I will buy it soon
Just got mine and I'm not totally happy with the battery after one day, definitely worse than the sgs2, gnex or gnote

Great stats!!
Screen : 3:05:07... so for the past 3 days... you have just used your screen for 3 hrs?? Impossible for me...
However, I wonder why the power is just showing 9.1%... Now I am on AOKP.. 2 hr Screen time = 26%... Even when I was on Stock... it would go up to 20-25% with 3 hours...(Auto Brightness)...

It was just a test. I`m gonna test and share maximum screen time.
In stock when browsing on 3g - I get 1% off per 1 min...so max 1.30 hrs !!! poor I guess.

my current screen on time is 11 hours. With 3G on. Later there will be screenshots.
Here is my stats.
I guess you just left your phone alone and set screen on all the time?
A
Do You also get this result when you leave phone screen on? Actually I used my phone as phone. Whatsapp, talk, message etc. But left phone with screen, when 3g was opened. It was just a test. I think ARHD with its stock kernel is the best battery friendly ROM.
