Desire HD or Z ROM

Wow! The camera is now working for the new sense.
The new official versions of those new sense roms will come out very soon (Robociks RCMixHD and Desire Z Port).
Now, I am confused :
To rotate or not to rotate?
Anyone can help me decide?

Personally I don't like the look of it in Landscape so I'll say HD
Not followed the camera progress for a while so if it's working I'll be rooting again soon

I was going to ask the same question!. I can live without 720p for the time being - seems a minor fix compared to actually getting the camera working in these ROM's.
I am currently running Teppics ROM and i do like it but i am very tempted to try another!
Can i just ask what is the rotating part you are talking about? - I have not kept up with the ports until the camera issue was resolved?

The HTC Sense can be viewed in a landscape mode in the Z ROM.

to be honest, the rotating kind of annoys me, so i'm a HD rom man.
the MT4G rom is also interesting and worth a look if you want to try something a bit different. really fast too.

Hmmm....it seems rotation is not to everyone liking..
720p is also a minor problem for me as long as I have the camera working because I need the camera for emergency use when I don't have my Panasonic FZ38 with me.
Is there a speed difference between Z and HD?

Never use 720p as it's terrible on the Desire so it doesn't bother me - just a working camera will do the job!!

I'm trying to remember - it was a little while since I used it - but I think it was sense, or had the sense widgets anyway.

I wanna have everything functioning but again as said, it is only a minor problem, something I can live with.
Yup, very bad...the recording quality is pathetic.

yes the espresso mytouch 4G is a sense based HD rom and I've been using it for about a month now, super reliable and super fast (quadrant nearly 2000)

Have you find any issues or bugs (the laggy 720p is already known)? Notification LED?
According to forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818392 : "Rom is cleaned of bloatware."
Do you know :
What are/ is the bloatware/s? or what is missing or removed?
One of my fav mod now is the DSP manager and I am currently using Leedroid 2.2f, does the DSP thing works on that ROM?

the bloatware was all the t-mobile junk and game demos/apps etc
DSP manager isn't working on this rom at the moment
(but the dev is very helpful and will probably try to fix it if you ask him nicely )
In my opinion the rom kernel isn't the best, I've tried quite a few over the weeks and coutts99 kernel remix is the best so far (now with audiomod to boost the sound)
there is a promised new release version later on tonight so if you're thinking of flashing this rom hang on for a few hours...!

I will definitely wait.
I want the new sense badly
It doesn't have to be the same DSP manager as I use at the moment as long as I can adjust the audio quality as I please.
I have tried the HD Rom 3 weeks ago, but switched back to Leedroid because of the camera was not working.
Now the camera is working, I can live with the 720p problem.Although, I am still hoping that the 720p problem will also be fixed soon.

Glitches Fix for sense 3.0 (Camera Working) by haldric

Browsing the forums I found this fix to repair the "video glitches" for Sense 3.0.... camera and video recording working flowless, I used for more than 3 days without any problem.

no working in my 3.5

Works on 3.5 ROM, but ROM becomes laggy. Superuser app closing.

Worked with Arkat Double Sense 1.2 (Sense 2.1)
No glitches, but camcorder is a different story I guess.

Edit: Getting warm almost at once when screen is on, freezes and reboots when holding the screen for menu popups.
Restoring the original build.prop with the line - debug.sf.hw=0 - seems ok after a few hours running.

be careful with that the build prop include is for dungphp pyramid

Fix will be working well when I removed build prop from zip before flashing in other than pyramid rom?

My camera war crashing after taking 1 photo, even w/ the fix, then I changed the "scenes" setting to other than "action burst" and no more bugs. Works fine.
Try it out and give me some feedback, plz.

no not working there's a line to write in build prop :debug.sf.hw=0

After install the fix the weather from sense only shows a black screen with the white fonts ;(
Could anybody help please.

That is one of the only side effects that I have even noticed using this fix on Deakins rom, it is so nice not seeing that stuff any more!

download and flash the version 2 on the post updated recently

@haldric, can you share how you fixed this please, so that we can try it in other Sense ROMs too?

Works BP Z Rom , have noticed though, if you change the battery using OUT kitchen you lose your wallpaper and internet ... Otherwise used with standard all good

Thanks man V1 and V2 both work on all the SenseGB Roms also with Sense2.1 Roms.
Tried on Dungphp's Vivo and own modified RcMix1.9 with Sense2.1.
No problems .Camera also working OK.

I'm actually on AOKP build8, with Faux kernel, everything is fine, I like the look and feel (but missing the original HTC feeling, would love them to unbloat sense a bit and get to the origins...)
The one big thing missing (for many peoples I guess) is the Camera app...
Now here comes the question : haven't there been sens phones which camera app had been ported to aosp allready (like HTC Desire ?)
If this was possible then, isn't it now ? (while taking in consideration 4.0 is different from 2.X...
I'm just thinking to have a look at Venom (but hey, AOKP will get Jellybean much much faster )

The HTC camera needs the Sense framework, so it's almost impossible to make it work. The only way to have the best of both worlds is to use a sense rom with an aosp theme.

I know it need the senese framework, else I would not ask for it to be ported to AOSP
My question is not on how top prt it, but if a camera apk from sense has ever been ported outside of it.
I'm not too eager to go bck to sense, as multitasking is crap and just have 300MB more romsize for the camera ? Not sure...

This will not happen due to the closed drivers. Hence why on most aosp and aokp roms on any device we rarely see the stock applications running on them.

The Sense camera app is the reason im not using a custom rom yet, I want to use Epsilon Project (based on AOKP 4.1.2), but I want the sense camera, it is sad to hear that it is imposible to do this :crying:

EpsilonProject has a pretty nice camera that makes me forget the Sense one.
I only need to figure out how to disable face recognition.

[Q] Will the HTC Sense 4.0 Camera work on an ICS ROM?

Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to install the HTC Sense 4.0 Camera APK and use it as a default for my current ICS ROM.. I'm using Ice Cream Jibwich 2.0, so far it seems to be the smoothest ICS ROM that works on my Desire Z and does have a working camera.. I just like some of the functionality of the Sense 4.0 camera, and I was wondering if I could get it on my ICS ROM.. Is there anything I need to know about? Is it just as simple as replacing the camera apk or will there be issues with framework? etc.

the Sense-style blobs, drivers, etc is designed specifically for that sense kernel it won't work outside of that.
On a Funny Note: There used to be a ton of these types of threads, except it was how to get ICS cameras working on Sense (since before infinity, Sense didn't have a working camera for 3.6 onward).

Yeah I know, I was waiting for a Sense 4 camera to become working then thought i'd pop the question I like the combined Camera and Video functionality as well as all the effects etc., oh well though, just a thought Won't loose any sleep over it, thanks anyway

additionally, i have been using cm7.2 now. but wifi thethering connection with my smart tv is not possible! wifi thethering so important for this.waiting your valuable suggestions

Stock sense 2.1 or 3.5. If you don't like sense then WildChild 3.3 is best. It has amazing performance too.

thank you bro, i dont like sense, i will try wildchild 3.3 but waitin for your update to fix mobile network for epic rom miui based on cm7.2. it was the best for me but i dont use for only one reason that is network problem. i will try wildcihld but still will be waiting for your miui v3 with network fix

i have tried wildchild 3.3 its well but i had keyboard problem. when i touch any writeable screen, not opening keyboard, tried to flash stock keyboard same problem existed again. i'm turnin back to stock again..

This one looks promising: Marvellous CM10
However I don't know if it is overclock-able. I'm always weary of overclocking phones as they don't have that much heat dissipation to work with.
