Don't use the app then, run recovery at boot and backup that way.

I ran "Restart in recovery"in ROM Manager, but nothing happened it boots normally ...
( my phone has an unlocked bootloader and is Rooted )
And what happens when you use the recoveryArc.img?
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
You have to flash with fastboot that RecoveryArc.img . Then power on the device and when the first logo is shown you have to press the volume down button (with DoomKernel and CM7 it is done this way, I suppose it is the same for RecoveryArc.img).

If you're on stock ROM you just run it with Fastboot and it boots in to it.

Hello, can anyone help me please i followed the guides on the forum to unlock my bootloader - worked fine! Then flashed it - worked fine! then rooted and updated to 2.3.4 also worked fine.
Then i downloaded the FXP CM and followed the guide to install that, booted up fine but when am actually on the home page it just goes black and all i can see is the time, battery life etc.. at the top of the screen
Can someone please advise how i can fix this or install another rom over it if thats possible as i can't use my phone at the minute

I am about 95% sure i did because it says in the guide, although i am at work at the minute so won't be able to check until i get home as i kept everything i downloaded in one folder.
Would it be possible to just start again from flashing it, then rooting an installing another ROM ?
Thanks
If your bootloader is unlocked you don't need to root, just flash the boot.img and CM7 zip.

hey everyone!
i got SE xperia arc with 4.0.4 android version (4.1.B.0.587) model LT15a and its rooted.
i searched few themes in this site and i found one :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904624
i downloaded the theme file but i dont know what to do with him...i know i need CWM recovery..what i dont know is how to use it..install this...and where i can find version for my arc.
if someone can help me with this please i'll be very greatfull !!
Look in theme, app section to download cwm recovery, until you are familiar suggest you use v5 install app then open app and install cwm into system.
Once installed shut down phone restart then start pressing back key when you see Sony logo, you will enter recovery to navigate around use the vol keys to move up and down and the enter key to select.
To install theme or other mods select install from sd card when in recovery locate downloaded file sd select to install reboot phone and it should install.
But before installing any mod or theme etc always make a backup with cwm recovery. Incase you mess up phone.

That's the one.
I am not an expert in this area. I just wanted to get rid of bloatware from my Xperia Arc (2011 edition). So I followed the procedure given here
http : // talk.sonymobile com/thread/97327 (basically unlocked boot-loader, and flashed using another firmware to get root access).
The phone was working well for 2 months. One day I turned on Bluetooth and phone crashed. Now it starts and at the boot animation restarts. I gave it to service center but they said they will not repair because of some policy.
Please suggest a solution to this. (I have USB debugging enabled already on it).
Reflash stock firmware. Its a known bug.
If u have recovery installed boot into it. Wipe cache and dalvik and reboot. Phone will boot to system

I will check if this mobile has recovery installed into it. Where can I get stock firmware? Sorry I am really new to this stuff.
If you Google "xperia arc s 4.1.0.b.587 ftf" or something in Google you'll get results. The stock ROM is somewhere in the dev section too, use the search button, I'm on my new phone and search works weird here.
I assume since you unlocked BL you have drivers for your device.. In this case use flashtool, click on the lightning icon, navigate to your firmware file and connect phone in flash mode (menu + USB cable I think, I have not used my arc for some time but it should give you green LED if you done correctly), flashing will automatically start

Flashtool will work regardless of the bootloader status.
To OP: Search from the forum how to flash stock firmware. Been discussed plenty of times.

Keep calm mate and you will sort it out.
use this thread for your stock ftf files and use the flashtool.
After that make sure you have got the correct kernel for the rom which you choose and always backup your system using recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30291494
Thank you guys. I got it fixed. Appreciate your time and help.
Aimed primarily at those who have unlocked bootloader and want to root .569 firmware. Can also be used as a daily driver.
Stock kernel with only recovery added using @osm0sis's Android image kitchen. (Big thanks to him )
Instructions:
Make sure your bootloader is unlocked. (Backup TA partition on directly rootable firmware beforehand if unlocking for the first time.)
Ensure you have @Chainfire's latest SuperSU.zip from here SuperSU-v1.89.zip on your internal or external SD card.
Flash the boot.img from HERE with flashtool or command line.
Reboot, and press volume up when blue LED comes on to enter Philz CWM Advanced Edition recovery,
Or volume down to enter TWRP
Flash SuperSU-.zip from where ever you stored it.
Reboot - Done:good:

Is it working on your device ? Is it also C6502 or other
I see what you did in the new kernel , you changed the recovery-ramdisk .
I tried that too with others from CM 10.2 and CM11.0 kernels but no luck.
The phone boots.....vibrates & purple LED appears......i press vol-up several times....phones boots into the homescreen.
Everything works fine but the CWM window never appears.
Thats why i'm asking you again where did you get the kernel source ? I cannot find it on sony developer world

Did you try to boot into recovery via adb?
adb reboot recovery
So you can test if it is a general problem with recovery or with pressing keys in.the boot process.
When I had a recovery on my phone (I currently don't have one, and it had not been this recovery kernel by shoey) I was only able to boot into it via adb or the app X-Parts.
Xperia ZL, 4.2.2 Stock (.67), rooted

So, for a little history about my PLAY's problems - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2607723
If you don't want to read all of that thread - long story short, I had flash problem, couldn't boot again, so they told me to flash stock, flashed ReFlash with .238, now I have problems with the google store, so I want to flash a costume ROM (cm 9 or 10).
Now, I tried to install cwm recovery, when I'm trying to boot into it I have blue led for about a second and then it stops, and I just can't boot into recovery mode.
Any help with that?
And about the google store problem - I try to install an app (any app), and I get error (498). Someone knows what is it and what can I do with it?

Dude, I searched, the only way people get blue led for few seconds and then restart is when they're bootloader is locked (main is unlocked).
Flashtool will tell you if your bootloader is unlocked. connect it to flashtool and check the drivers. If it says none under flash/fastboot then it's the drivers doing that. But if you connect to flashtool and it tells you that you need root your bootloader isn't unlocked.
