What gives? Before mango my device would show me notification for a new email from my yahoo account on the lock screw, hotmail shows fine. Now that I have updated to Mango it doesn't show me a notification for a new email for my yahoo account on the lock screen. How can I fix this?

Did you re-add your email accounts? How many do you have? It will only show 2 icons besides your live account. Linked inboxes count as one icon. So if you have 4+ email boxes you will only see the first 2 added after your live account. It goes in order of account creation during setup.
5 icons on front screen:
1. calls/voicemail
2. txt/mms
3. live/hotmail
4. next email
5. next email.
I only have two email accounts

Not sure then. Did you try removing the account? I would remove it, restart your phone then add the account back.
Not sure what it could be other than that.
I will try that

gents,
I disabled the notification of new emails in all my accounts.
It works in all but my GMail Accounts. I still get the "M" logo in the top-bar.
Is it a bug?
So you went into the Gmail app and turned off new email notifications?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Exactly.
I noticed that it is only my primary mail Account that notifies.
There are 2 email apps on the desire. Make sure you go into both and disable the notification.
Could be a bug in yours, I turned off notifications and missed 4 emails
Yeah u r right about 2 Apps. The Gmail App needed configuration too
Thanx 4 the help
I want my work email on my GN but don't want the number or alphabetical lock for a lock screen that the email requires. Now the question is since its android, is there some way of by passing this to maybe another lock screen preference.
thanks
Touchdown exchange only requires the pin to get in the email app. Does not lock the whole device. My favorite part.

Check out Enhanced Email (available in Market). Great email program, and let's you disable Exchange account policies. Many other great features.
I have my corporate email setup and I don't use the number crap. I think at first it made me use it but I disabled it or deleted the account and set it back up a second time.
Ive crackflashed a few times and never been prompted about the lockscreen again.

The requirement of using either pin or tracing is pushed on your device by the profile configured in ActiveSync on the Microsoft Exchange server. It is entirely possible some people will have this requirement and some don't.
You could always talk to your Exchange administrator and see if it could be changed.

I just bought a One X to replace my iPhone 4, mostly happy about it, except the mail app is a bit frustrating
Firstly, iPhone almost always loads the full email instantly, and the ICS app only loads the text version and I have to press a button to load images and that could take an extra few seconds per email
Second, there is no next/previous button? I have to press the back button and select another mail to open it...
Lastly, whenever I receive a new email, iPhone notifies me instantly and I'm a slide of a bar away from viewing the full email, with ICS the notification system doesn't even work for me, I have to refresh the mail app in order to see the new email.
Is there any way to fix this?
I'm using Hotmail
Use the hotmail app from Microsoft. Much better imo. Has push notifications and pinch to zoom.

I am using HTC Mail to work with Gmail. Unless I select a frequent receiving interval, the time getting the new incoming email seem a bit later than what I have used in Windows Phone and iPhone. The best mail client is iPhone that it almost get the email after couple of minutes after sender dispatching the email.
K9 mail https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fsck.k9&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5mc2NrLms5Il0.
Or make an active sync account in the default mail app and set it to push.
My recommendation would be to install "Touch down for smart phones". It is the best mail app that i have found for my hotmail account and also does exchange.

Just rooted and installed a custom Rom. It appears my Vodafone handset had a lot of the email settings disabled. I can now have push mail and html messages in stock app.

I try to use Stock Email App. I found push option only to be with Microsoft exchange (others have only Smart Sync or 5 minuts minimum). I tried to use it but I have a problem.
Once I receive the email and read it, it does not update the server that I have read the email and it is still marked as unread on google.com site.
IS there any solutions?
Use the gmail app

He says on the google.com site so I'm assuming it's gmail
I am using Gmail.
With Gmaill app I dont have banner notification on lock screen and no unread mail counter.
have you checked the notification settings are correct?
the app also cannot display an unread count on the icon - you need a launcher such as apex or to use an app like this
Hi, since the updates to the Mail app I can't add any of my Gmail accounts. It just times out after a while and asks me to check the details are correct, which they are. I've even tried going through 'other account' and adding all the Gmail settings manually but it still doesn't work.
Is anybody else experiencing the same problems or know what could be the problem?
Thanks

It has been posted publically numerous times now that microsoft removed support for syncing to google accounts via EAS in the last set of updates.
Infact windows 8 even prompts on opening the mail app to reconnect your google account (which it does with IMAP instead of EAS).
remove you google account. Then just click add account > Google.
No timeout for me.
Its not working for either of my Gmail accounts, hence the starting this topic

Check your Gmail account settings. Make sure it isn't blocking IMAP. Otherwise you could have it forward all your Mail to your Microsoft account, under a Gmail folder. It worked fine for me after the update as soon as I signed back in.
Seems that the hotels WIFI where I was staying was blocking Gmail accounts from syncing through the Mail app, this happened straight after I had updated the native apps just to confuse matters more.
All working now though woop
