I keep reading through all the different ROM threads and hardly anyone talks about ADW? Is there something I should know, that I don't? I don't want to have to pay for a launcher, any advice is welcome.

What you mean? Cm7 ships with adw (be it a modified version). And everyone has their choice...some people switch launchers on a weekly basis

For drop dead stability I always go with go launcher (on my gf's epic) but I have paid for launcher pro plus and can't live without the built in themeable twitter, gmail, and facebook widgets butto each his own. I consider adw a laggy ram hog

Most people do not want to pay for something like a launcher when there are so many free ones like Zeam. I got ADW for my 2 phones. My girl uses it exclusively but I use it just to verify operation with new Bonsai builds before release.
I have been using Zeam since April but I have been using ADW EX a lot more lately. The themes and icons are great and I love being able to swipe to hide my status bar and dock

I use adw ex. Its fairly stable I don't have problems often..
Cd's or tapes?
I forgot what but something hides and out was a pain in the ass because somehow I got it to hide apk the time
It got to the point where I had to have a shortcut for the un hide button on my beautiful bare home screens and also I'm my opinion tw4.5 is better

I use ADW. I have it carefully configured; I LOVE it. I use the FOSS market version. If you want my configs to try I can post them.
I got ADW as the base launcher on a ROM I was using and fell in love with it. I used to be all about Launcher Pro but this works out so much better. None of the LP restarts when memory runs low and ADW runs so smoothly.
What launcher do you guys use on your Xperia Play? Recently I have been debating between Go Launcher Ex and Adw Ex.
Adw ex imo is better I use loads though always changing it up.

I have Go Launcher and ADW, but LauncherPro is the one I like the most.
Very smooth, and allows some customization options that GoLauncher and ADW don't.
Launcher 7. Smoothest and the least laggy launcher I have used. It almost feels hardware accelerated because it's so smooth in all its transitions/scrollings.
Not everybody likes the wp7 layout. But I do. Very fast and functional to use.
Stock.

Picked up adw ex in the recent sales (10 cent) and I've been pretty happy with it.

I always used pretty much all of the Go apps on my LG O2X.
However on my play managed to get adw ex for 12p and I really love it. Seems smoother than Go. I like being able to resize the icon sizes.
The only thing I do miss is being able to put folders in the app list like you can in go. Handy to have all games together etc.
i used 360 (very good even in beta) with stock rom but now i have cm7 and go launcher
ADW Ex is great on the play. Very fast and snappy.
I'm running the free version of ADW. I like how you can organize your apps into different groups in the app drawer and then put a shortcut to the groups on your desktop with Launcher Actions.

I use launcher pro, its smooth and gives great customization

I always used Launcher Pro on all my devices, but I much prefer Go Launcher with my Play. Go looks great on the large screen and it's easily the most functional of all the launchers for me. Plus Launcher Pro seems to have been abandoned while Go is in active development, with an update roughly every week or two
iam using the stock cm9 launcher. It works very well and very smooth

I have all the launchers, SPB, Go, Launcher Pro Plus, ADW EX, but they are all frozen using Link2SD atm cause im enjoying the stock sony launcher.

SPB is fantastic, but it's way too expensive

I was disapointed after i bought SPB, i loved SPB Shell and SBP Pocket + ect on winmo. But i expected more wigets and more sizes for them on SPB.

I used launcherpro for a long time. But the last 6 months I have been using GO launcher exclusively

ADW Launcher EX. I was so close to switching to Go Launcher, but ADW udated with ICS styled folders

Was using LauncherPro for a while, then tried GO Launcher. Now I'm trying out Zeam. Decent little launcher. Small footprint. Downside is it crashes a lot and redraws take forever.
Might go back to GO Launcher.
What's a good replacement launcher preferably one that is being developed on xda

GO Launcher Ex is another good one, lots of customization and well made Widgets. Updated weekly like most GO apps are.
I use it on all my devices, including a rooted Nook Touch.
Nemus Launcher is great, the folder system looks so nice, and App drawer will auto highlight your recent used Application.
But, after using so many launcher, i often miss my stock Play launcher, i miss Timescape widget, music widget, FB inside xperia, etc... which i cant get if installed with 3rd party launcher
I'm sticking with the Sony Ericsson default Launcher that comes with the Play.
The reason I don't use any other Launchers is cause it uses some ram memory and I do quite a lot of gaming so I need that extra 10 mb ram.
I don't know if it makes a difference but I just like to keep it that way
Who's with me ?

Try SPB Shell.
It is amazing.
I wanted to give TouchWiz a chance but I could only deal with it for about an hour. At first I replaced it with Holo Launcher since thats what I used on my SGS Vibrant but it was a bit buggy on the SGS3. I then installed Nova Launcher and its been pretty good.
Whats your favorite launcher to replace TouchWiz?
Apex Pro, no doubt!
Pebble Blue Samsung Galaxy S3 (T-Mobile Style)
Agreed apex pro

Nova Prime hands down.
Hands down after testing all of them the lightest and most customizable is adwlauncher ex.

You're kidding right ?
Hmm just for fun this should have been a poll hehe.
Apex pro for me so far is the best. It's fast, minimal, but feature packed. I used a bunch of other ones but they either too bloated, development is dead, or I noticed my battery starting to suffer. Apex pro is owning hard.
Does using an alternate launcher actually avoid loading touch wiz in the background? Asking because i see TW uses about 70 mb of ram and i don't really want two launchers taking up memory in the background.
Sent from my SGH-T999
Go Launcher Ex all the way, just as fast as Nova or Apex but with more features. I have tried all 3 and I noticed Nova is a bit smoother than Go Launcher but I dont think its worth it to give up the customization that Goi Launcher offers
Nova Prime!
Apex pro without a doubt
Gotta agree with some of the others. Nova.
Apex pro here

Tried them all, Go Launcher Ex is the best one I have used, they also have a lot of other apps, like Go SMS, Go Calender widget, that are integrated very nicely.
Give them a try and go with what suits your needs best, I did and I always went back to Go Launcher Ex.
They all copy from each other, Apex, Go, and ADW seem to have the same level of customization options, plus or minus one or two here and there.
Apex pro ftw. My girlfriend uses Nova and they are pretty much the same.

i know, i know, this has probably been asked a million times, but i'm directing this to S3 users here in our little corner of the world, please don't hate
i've been using the holo launcher hd pro now for some time and i truly love the way it works. its smooth, elegant, doesnt get in the way, and best off all, gives me an AOSP look and feel when running a non-AOSP rom. i also use the holo locker as well. i use this launcher on both my S3 and my Xoom tablet
it seems to me that the holo launcher doesnt get enough respect. i see many a custom rom that includes nova or apex, but not holo (or even adw or go launchers for that matter).
when i search for "launcher" on the play store the first five results are in order GO, ADW, Nova, Apex, and Launcher 7, with Nova Prime and Apex Pro 6th and 7th.
Holo is on the first page of results, but is second from the bottom. hardly respectable if you ask me. there are themes that show up higher in that search
anyway, so lets keep it civil and not bash on each others choice of launcher. i just want to get a feel for how popular these launchers are on the S3 or do you prefer the stock TouchWiz interface?
let your voice be heard and vote above!

why do you think that? launchers are apps.
My favorite one is the one that gets launched when i press the home button
I use nova prime because of the folders in the app drawer. Go launcher is too heavy.

Apex is very light, smoth and dont use alot resource therefor batt last longer.

jajaja ive tried them all..use to like golauncher but takes up to much ram.. nova lags to much when i add widgets on screen...next seems ok but you cant change icons on the ones that bring look awfull... atom is smooth but its not letting me add widgets only the one launcher brings...smart launcher is kinda boring...and action launchers is slow xD spb is to heavy to.... im using apex now... until i find another one to try out...lol

I use the stock TouchWiz one, but when I root it I use LGUI3.0 It's so much better, and gives you alot more customization options than TouchWiz. I think TouchWiz is so bland...
I was surprised to see that the default launcher with CM10 doesn't have a back-up function. I switched back to ADW because I was familiar with it from CM7. I also missed the infinite scroll feature that's available in ADW (and some of the others).

have you tried holo launcher at all? i just did a test and it does use about 59mg of ram where as apex shows as cached and ready when you need it, so from that, it seems that apex is much lighter on resources, but i still really love holo, you should try it

Moving to General, as I think that it will garner more votes/views/opinions as opposed to staying in the Themes/Apps section.
