I'm pretty sure that you would have to reverse engineer the drivers for webtop as it is setup for Motorola's hardware. Anything is possible with the right amount of time and money. You could just pick up a Photon. I had one...it's a good device.
Sent from my Eptouch 4g

the ports are in totally different places

Oh yeah plus we have an mhl port which handles the USB and hdmi out. The Photon, Atrix, and Bionic have separate micro USB and HDMI ports.

I'm wondering why both Sprint's versions of Galaxy S phone have notification lights, when none of the other carriers Galaxy S devices receive them. I guess Sprint may know what people prefer & will ask/demand it be on their devices......Too bad their network SUCKS
Don't need notification lights as I'm on the phone full time anyways

Just as a reminder, Sprint's network sucks. The Yesterday Network has become downright embarrassing. If it was on a GSM provider or Verizon's that be one thing.

Same here! I pre-ordered this bad boy already. Can't wait. These two weeks are going to be torture. I'm temporarily using a Samsung Reclaim for God's sake!!
A question: I posted this elsewhere but didn't get much of a response. You all think that for root / flashing custom roms purposes, will be coming to the same thread? (this one)
I'm asking because the US variants seem to differ in several ways and I'm not sure if all the variants will be discussed/rooted/developed on the same thread. Any guesses?
Also, you guys feeling pretty sure the bootloader will remain unlocked? (Man, I hope so).
What do ya think the battery life will be like since it has a larger screen? It says up to 8.7 hours of talk time
not a big deal

[Q] If You Were To Buy A New Android Phone Tomorrow What Would It Be?

So it's almost time to get a new phone but I can't figure out what to get...iPhone is definitely OUT...I refuse to be stuck with Apple-only BS...
...so if you were going to get a new Android device (phone) tomorrow what would it be?
I mean what is a step above the EVO 4G (besides the E3D)? Is there something better than the E4G?
Was thinking about this today....definitely need something that can be freaked like the Evo 4G.....
I'm not diggin' the E3D because of the lower MP camera & I hear the 3D really isn't all that...plus I've seen some "3D" footage shot with the E3D and it looked like regular old camera-phone footage...definitely NOT impressed at all...seems more like a gimmick to me...
I hear the Nexus has "the full Android experience" whatever the hell that means...I'm guessing no carrier bloatware?
Anyway...any suggestions?
Galaxys24g touch or whatever it's called.
If your stuck on sprint I would get the 3d. It has more ram and a better processor. The development on the 3d is huge which means better roms. My roommate has a Samsung epic 4g and its a pain in the a**. Not much going on in terms of rom development and even getting a rom on it involves upgrading the radio everytime a new rom is leaked. You also have to flash pretty much everything through samsungs software instead of CWM (no amonRA on samsungs that I have seen). I would stick to HTC.
If you can switch carriers the HTC sensation looks nice.
If I had to buy tomorrow...
On Sprint, probably the Epic Touch. Verizon, Droid Bionic. AT&T, Galaxy S II. T-Mobile, Amaze.
Of all? Epic Touch I think. If only it had a metal/soft touch unibody and some actual heft...
Just remembered. Epic Touch has LOS and a couple issues right now. Dang it.

Epic 4G Touch, without a doubt.
well tomorrow better be the day when a kal el device is released with a 4.5 inch HD screen 1-2 gb of ram and 32GB of internal storage.
if tomorrow was really tomorrow. probably the evo 3d just do to its familiarity and sense.

Coming from htc, odin is one of the coolest things ive seen in a while. You can still use clockwork. I upgraded to the d710 from the 3d and yes you are right the 3d has more development. Which is good because the 3d needs a lot of work where as the stock rom on the d710 is fantastic and really doesnt need any deving. The d710 crushes the 3d in speed im not sure why you're arguing the reverse? Ive been loyal to htc for years but they just aren't what they used to be. Samsung is the new HTC in my eyes.

Is the MHL cable required for USB OTG?

All that I'm interested in is accessing external storage. Would this work?
http://www.amazon.com/female-Micro-...2VMG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1321787319&sr=8-3
From what i understand you need to get that Micro-A version not the B version. I THINK
No it does not work.

Won't work either way.
That and most cable will work with Galaxy S2 but it won't work with Epic 4G Touch Galaxy S2. Although they are close they are not the same phone.
USB OTG is disabled on the Sprint version of the SGSII. MHL is only to split the USB data from the HDMI stream.
Do you guys know when it'll be enabled? I asked in a development thread for ICS to see if it could be added in the new kernel they are developing for it and got flamed by Jerdog.
I would love to have this as I use it a lot on my Xoom.

It is a really nice feature I use on the zoom as well. It would be nice to get it enabled.

Does an mhl adapter work for the epic touch? And does a wireless Bluetooth mouse connect to the epic touch?

They all work it's a mhl adapter if one is broke it wont work but it's like a USB cord there is no special one that only works here the ones on Ebay work too
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Just wanted to note that if you plan on trying any ICS ROM leaks, you'll lose MHL compatibility. On another note, Blazer ROM 4.0 worked with MHL, and probably Calk's 2.9.2 for EL29.

Just fyi, not all USB cords are created equal. Neither are MHL adapters. If you need proof go look up any thread about using ODIN. Thanks again for your input.

Ics ROM*
xXHELLBoy91Xx
I had been using an MHL adapter almost every day for the past couple of weeks with one of Calk's ICS Roms (E4GT 2 V1). It worked on that one at least.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005F9W6DU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=AEKEXTXL2B213
Works with stock roms.
Cyanogen/AOSP based roms will not work.
Thanks dude I needed a mhl link that's works on ics ROMS.
xXHELLBoy91Xx
Those MHL adapters are nice, I also have one that came with a 6' HDMI cable. I get the most out of it when I go out of town and stream netflix to the hotel rooms flat screen via the HDMI.
A cheap but durable MHL link adapter would be awesome
xXHELLBoy91Xx
I purchased an MHL adapter from monoprice back in September and it works fine on my E4GT using stock and Calk's GB ROMs. The part# that I ordered is no longer available, but when I did a search for "MHL" on monoprice only one result was found and it looks identical to the one I have.
+1 on the Monoprice adapter... ordered one a few weeks back and it works fine on the stock ROM. Just remember that you still need to plug in to external power.
So stock ics?
xXHELLBoy91Xx
If I were you guys I would definitely recommend purchasing a legit mhl adapter. Not the cheepo $10 one. I purchased two separate ones off of Amazon and neither worked. One worked for about a day, then stopped working. The other one never worked at all (it did shock me though, seriously). Get the official Samsung one, as you cant go wrong with OEM.

Gnex to hdtv? This possible?

If so, what's the cheapest solution?
Mandated from Stannis Baratheon
I think the cheapest solution is the one that is free, Install a free dlna app and this is enough to get videos on your screen, and music and pics, it´s awesome, but If you are talking about the homescreen and games in the tv I don´t know how, or the only way is to get a dock
Yeah if your TV has WiFi, most of them will recognize dlna hosts. But if you want to do more than host videos or music, get an MHL adapter. It will allow you to use HDMI and mirror anything on the screen

As long as the micro USB port supports MHL, you're good.
