anyone tried updating dere swype keyboard???
I've recently update to the newest version of the Swype Beta, it's pretty straight forward.
Just delete the one you have now, and follow the installation instructions on their website and you'll have no problems.

I've done that and I get FC every time..
Maybe copying libSwypecore.so to /system/libs would help ! ?

Ok, after reinstalling 3,4 times it finally started to work..

just 1 more stupid question can i uninstall swype installer icon from menu or will it delete the latest beta to ???

I believe he is talking about the swype installer. You can get it from official swype web site but you have to sign up for beta swype.

I'm Talking about the Swype you find pre-installed on the phone. It's not a third party app. I could not find the system directory on my phone. I wouldn't like to remove it and install it as third party app, I just want to update it. Using FROYO.RSJP5.

I received an email from them, I've registered to their web site to install it on another phone. I can't find any info about it on their web site either.

So as I said. Its the BETA and not the preinstalled app. Also someone here up told you how to do it (racerboy3801). There is no other way how to update to the BETA from the preinstalled since they are different apps.
ALSO the BETA has not all languages .
ALSO I didnt find on their site or forums mentioning that it was updated just now. Its 2 weeks old.
However its 200 percent better as the preinstalled app .

I know its better.
The preinstalled app has many bugs and "features" that literally makes it unusable for many users. They fixed it in the beta as you can read the release notes or the changelog.
Anyway since it not so easy to switch from preinstalled to beta. Keep your preinstalled if you are ok with it

The only problem I have noticed is that often the second word in a sentence is capitalized while it shouldn't. As for the rest I haven't noticed any difference from the beta version installed on my other phone.

I'd rather use the best one available, so I'll try the beta. I still haven't found the "system/app" and "system/lib" racerboy3801 has told me about so I don't know how to proceed.
that bug you mentioned I dont have. Its not some feature ? Leaving the keyboard to capitalize the whole word?
And are you rooted and do you have a file manager that can access those directories ?

I've been using the beta version for a while and prefer it over any preinstalled version.
If you flash a new rom or a theme,you have to remove the Swype key board,lib and installer and reboot before reinstalling the beta version.
Try it,to see if you like it.
Download Root Explorer,from market,go to system/app and delete Swype and installer,system/lib and delete Swype.

I am rooted and I can use the preinstalled file manager "My Files".

Thank you for the suggestion. I have the standard Samsung ROM. I don't know where to find those lib and installer.
You need some root file explorer. Dont think My Files will help you.
You wont find the installer since its preinstalled.
So get yourself some root file explorer. And go to the mentioned directories move the files somewhere safe. Reboot. And install the swype beta wiht the newest installer.

Yeah, that could be a problem, I haven't thought about it. Swype stopped working on a friend's phone because his trial period expired.
Also, is it possible to revert to the preinstalled version if I won't be happy with the beta version?
Well do a backup before (titanium backup, the files, dont erase them , just move them) and also a nandroid backup would be even better.
The time limitation. I think I had it before on the hero. And I always was able to extend the period just by reinstalling.
Also a new rom for the SGS will have a new version of Swype. So if its even 2 months, if you flash like me , you will have already flashed 10 other roms
Anyway nandroid before, or atleast backup with titanium backup + dont erase the files just move them (not sure that will work).
I've installed it following the steps below:
Install "Titanium Backup" and "Super Manager";
Change to another keyboard;
Press the Backup/Restore tab at the top, scroll to Swype. Click on it;
Make a backup of Swype. Then Wipe Data and Delete it. It should be dimmed and marked out after deletion;
Using "Super Manager", cut \system\lib\libSwypeCore.so and paste it to a directory of your choice;
Reboot.
Download the new Swype Installer & Beta and install it;
Now using version 2.29.71.20203.t100

Anyone knows how to add Brazilian Portuguese Swype to Barebones 1.3? I Have tried a zip from my original stock rom and one from adlxmod thread (JORLA something)... at the moment i'm using switfkey, but i like swype!
Uninstall all aplications of swype (swype and swype installer) and install the beta full.
Works for me. (Only PT-PT)

How can you uninstall stock apps? I don`t see swype in managed apps, in my settings. Also trying to install romanian language for my swype.

I'm using swiftkey right now, not so fast, but it's a very good alternative. Or you can try Swype Beta (pt-PT), juste use the remove-swype*.zip from the link on my last post (on recovery), then download the beta.
I got a working pt-br swype from a brazilian defy branded by Claro.
If you still need it, I can make an update.zip and upload it to my server.
Check a small video of my Defy running JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_155-002_DEBLUR with PT-BR Swype.

Install a trial/beta/free one temporarily so that you can deactivate and uninstall swype (it does get whiney if you uninstall it and install the new Swype beta without having had it deactivated first)
when i try to install the keyboard via the installer i cannot install because it is a system application!

Well, yes... you'll have to use File Expert, Root Explorer, or something similar... remove the swype apk and .so file from their respective places, reboot, then install the beta.
I'm mobile, so I'll let you search for specifics, but off memory it's /system/app/Swype.apk and /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so
Edit: Be sure to disable Swype and switch input to another keyboard before removing those files.

If you aren't rooted, you can just uninstall the update for it.

Thanks am using miui and new market comes with the RoM.
Well if it came with the ROM, you are going to have to use Root Explorer and delete the market, and install the old one.
I see that on December 21st Swype released a new Beta version with Dragon but it tells me that since I already have Swype preinstalled on my Epic 4g that I can update it even thought I am rooted and running ACS ICS 5.5.... Is there any way that I can upgrade to the newest beta?
you have to uninstall swype and then go to the website and sign up and install. There's a swype uninstaller floating aroun here somewhere as well as a instructional video I believe as well

All you have to do is uninstall Swype, sign up for the beta on their site, and download the installer. Swype has asked repeatedly that people stop publicly sharing their products, especially the betas.
